I didn’t want one, but I need to go back to work after 2 years, after a house move and a baby , hundreds of job applications for anything and everything and not even one interview.

I’m a dementia care specialist, I could walk into a job in care tomorrow. So I just had to have it.

I’m 41, had AZ.

And i’m getting very drunk tonight, I don’t care if it’s a bad idea.

Also how soon did any side effects start?

I feel a bit odd (but i’ve been on tears for about an hour so there’s that).

I had AZ in March. No side effects first time, just felt very tired for a few days. Bad headache after second dose. Some colleagues (90 of us all jabbed together,) had low grade temperature for about a day. About 1/10 of them I'd say.

NoNotYou · 07/08/2021 11:21

Really, you just need to chill The Fuck out. You are making yourself anxious and almost willing yourself to get side effects. It's a vaccine! 100s of 1000s of folk have had it!

TheCatsPjammas · 07/08/2021 11:21

About 12 hours after, slight temp, bit coldy, took paracetamol, perfectly fine next day, bit tired that evening. Small price to pay.

AlexaShutUp · 07/08/2021 11:22

I had a slight fever and a headache the following day, but nothing awful. Minimal side effects after the second day. Hopefully you'll only get mild ones too. A lot of people I know had no side effects at all.

Well done on getting a vaccine and best of luck with your return to work!

I don't really see the link? It's just a vaccine.

pigeonhole · 07/08/2021 11:23

I've had both the AZ jabs ( feb and May ) , just a bit of a sore arm at injection site for a day or so , nothing else

Unfashionable · 07/08/2021 11:23

I had AZ. Side effects were a slightly sore arm after the first jab, nothing at all after the second. As an asthmatic, I was very anxious about catching covid before I was vaccinated, now I’m living a completely normal life, confident that even if I did catch it I wouldn’t be seriously ill.

I even went to the pub yesterday. Smile

I know but there were threads months ago saying don’t drink after.

No side effects after either jab.

pixietinsle5 · 07/08/2021 11:24

I had Pfizer and I felt fine the day of my vaccine but the day after and the next couple of days I felt very nauseous and tired but that was it. Your feelings are valid and I understand why you are anxious, I was the same but it's such a good thing that you have had it done! I currently have covid after having one jab and I'm so glad I had it as I'm sure I would of been feeling a lot worse without it. Enjoy whatever alcoholic beverage you will be having tonight 😃

TheFrogsAreDying · 07/08/2021 11:25

What you’re complaining that you’re lucky enough to have been able to get it? You realise people are dying all over the world because there’s no vaccine available for them , but maybe they’re not on your radar as they are poor and probably not white. What a silly privileged thing to complain about.

notangelinajolie · 07/08/2021 11:26

Well done on getting the jab. Enjoy your evening but don't blame the headache tomorrow morning on the jab Wine Grin

ilovesooty · 07/08/2021 11:26

@husbandcallsmepickle

No side effects after either jab.
Same here. I wouldn't have known I'd had it.
pigeonhole · 07/08/2021 11:26

I should add I'm CV and although I'm still careful about mixing with others unnecessarily, I feel a lot more confident having had the jab.

DingoDollar · 07/08/2021 11:26

And.....?

I had a sore arm for a few days after both my vaccines (AZ); no other side effects

I had a few drinks after each of them too as I got them on a Saturday each time

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 11:28

Last vaccine I had that I can remember was tetanus one after being bitten at work, very sore arm after that for ten days. Hopefully this one won’t be as bad.

I had covid, two months ago. I had a headache for three days.

Oh well it’s done now and I can apply for jobs when school goes back.

Well done for getting it. I’m a big believer in disease prevention.
I had AZ late morning and that same night I started to feel a bit off, but wondered if it was psychological. Slept well that night. Got up next morning feeling slightly off but managed easily to walk the dog and empty dishwasher etc.
Later in the afternoon I felt shattered and had cold shivers up my back. Needed to go to bed and sleep. Next day I was fine.
Second jab I only had an achy arm.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 11:28

Side effects are not obligatory.

My family had - Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson - no side effects to spreak of.

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 11:29

@DingoDollar

And.....?
it’s a big thing for me as I don’t want one.

I don’t have anyone to speak to about it in RL. is that okay?

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 07/08/2021 11:29

I'm older than you. I had AZ in March. 1st dose I was shivery overnight, got up and took a couple of paracetamol and I was ok in the morning, not completely 100% but close and definitely able to just get on with my day. 2nd dose in June I was fine.

Enjoy your drinks tonight and good luck with the job hunt.

NotImpossible · 07/08/2021 11:29

I felt a bit off the next afternoon for a few hours. Nothing bad, just that sort of background tiredness you get when you're ill. Nothing after second jab (actually, I was strangely perky for a few days)!

Arsebucket · 07/08/2021 11:30

Oh for christ’s sake.

Im not white by the way. And we live on minimum wage. But crack on.

The side effects are a bit like a hangover for most people I know, so getting drunk is either a good idea (you won't notice any side effects because they will be identical to your hangover) or a really bad one (a hangover, only twice as bad!).

I don't really see why it's a getting drunk event, although I did get a bit emotional two weeks after my second vaccine, when I was able to relax a bit.
