Well that's it then. We have to cancel our holidaySad. This year feels like I have been cursed. I've had two eye operations to stop me going blind, and now this.

DH & I have been doubly vaccinated but the DC are too young.

Aaaaaarrrrggghhh Angry

OH..Whatever..I never installed it...problem solved..Ignore it..and uninstall it

TickyTacky · 06/08/2021 17:24

You're doing the right thing, in ten days time fully vaccinated people won't have to isolate if they're a contact anyway. Keep up with lfts and have a lovely holiday 😊

IntermittentParps · 06/08/2021 17:25

A friend of mine got pinged, racked his brains thinking of how it could have happened (on the day in question only went to a corner shop for about five mins). Then found out his next-door neighbour had tested positive. My friend works at home and sits at his desk by a wall shared with NDN…
He did a test anyway before mingling with anyone, and was negative.
It’s very unreliable.

Bugbabe1970 · 06/08/2021 17:27

Just delete the app if it's track snd trace it's different

user1485851222 · 06/08/2021 17:28

Pleased you have decided to go.... enjoy your holiday 😍😁

AngryWhompingWillow · 06/08/2021 17:29

@TheWindOnTheMoon

I've already made a decision what to do.DH got some LTF tests today, we've done a test each, they were negative. We will take boxes of tests with us. Thanks to the supportive and understanding posters on here. To those who haven't bothered to read the full thread, do so before you decide to be unpleasant. We are a CV family, DH & DS are asthmatic, and I have regular hospital appointments for my eyes, following Surgery two months ago. If you stil! feel the need to be nasty, choose another thread, not someone who is already struggling with anxiety. I won't post again on here, I know what we're doing.
Hope you all have a lovely time. Flowers Smile
pollymere · 06/08/2021 17:31

I don't have the app. So many don't. It's wildly inaccurate. Do a Lateral Flow Test if you can but otherwise just enjoy your holiday.

Duchess379 · 06/08/2021 17:31

Just go love. We've got to go back to normal at some stage. You've been jabbed, so I'd just go & enjoy x

Toomuchtrouble4me · 06/08/2021 17:37

Just do a home test and go. That’s what everyone does. Everyone I know who got pinged didn’t get Covid. It’s crazy. Delete and go.

grownuplefthome · 06/08/2021 17:37

Hard luck hun!

Jenpeg · 06/08/2021 17:37

Can you isolate where you are going? At least you won't lose your holiday and can maybe go outdoors etc with caution, especially if you are doing LF tests

Chandimum · 06/08/2021 17:38

Just delete and go!! If nobody has symptoms, do tests then have your holiday.
End of the day your kids or any one of you could pick up covid ON holiday or ANYWHERE anytime you leave the house.
Live your life now and cut yourselves a well deserved break.
Enjoy

grownuplefthome · 06/08/2021 17:39

Selfish to ignore it (a case of I’m alright Jack)

@musicalfrog

I couldn't cancel a holiday for this.

OP the vulnerable are vaccinated. Just go.

My daughter is vulnerable and not vaccinated as she is too young.
Bryzoan · 06/08/2021 17:53

I think it is perfectly acceptable to use app pings as a guide (and I’m quite covid cautious). My plan following a ping would be to increase social distancing and mask wearing and to lft every day, and avoid being inside with others. I would also think more carefully about trips out. But I would not feel totally obliged to fully isolate.

KittyMcV · 06/08/2021 17:53

List of very useful things you can do to protect yourself and others from Covid:. Get the jab, don't go out if you have symptoms, wash hands and don't touch face. Far as I'm concerned all the rest is hysteria.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/08/2021 17:55

@Socrates978

It's idiots like you that have dragged the country into the mess we are in. Do you actually understand what is happening in the real world.

Somehow I doubt it!!

She's not ignoring T&T FFS! She's ignoring an unreliable app that isn't legally binding and anyone with any sense would either not download in the first place or delete pretty quick!
jenkel · 06/08/2021 17:56

Oldest dd got pinged last week, just as we were planning a weekend away. But, she hasn’t been anywhere, certainly no where risky and no where without at last another family member, nobody else in the family got pinged. We took the decision to go away but all do a lateral flow every day and just be mindful of any symptons, it’s been over 10 days now no positive lateral flows and she has been absolutely fine. Delete the app and go enjoy your holiday.

ribbonsred · 06/08/2021 17:58

@TheWindOnTheMoon

Cannot think where at all. I haven't been anywhere other than the supermarket to do shopping and a café.

It was the app not track & trace. DH thinks turn app off, turn phone off & just go on holiday. But I'm thinking what if I really have got it & spread it around. I'd never forgive myself. DH & DS are both asthmatic. It's a nightmare.

Why do people say "I haven't been anywhere" and then list two places that they have been...? Delete the app and go on holiday. Practise social distancing if you can.
Bogeyes · 06/08/2021 18:00

I got pinged and deleted mine...I always wore a mask and kept my distance...I was amazed how many people refused to do the same...it sounds harsh but nobody really gives a toss about your health!
I tested frequently after my ping and always came up clear.

Xboxgirl · 06/08/2021 18:02

Although I’m a notorious rule follower and always like to go by the book we did make an exception a few weeks back when DH was pinged by the app right before he and DS were due to go to Silverstone to see F1 for the first time . It was DS Christmas present he’d been waiting for his whole life and both he and DH had been doing twice weekly lateral flow tests all along so we decided that he would delete the app and they would go since all those tests were negative , DH was double jabbed and felt fine . I still have the app but I think I’ll delete it now too …

Cherryberrybonbon · 06/08/2021 18:08

If healthcare workers are been told to ignore the app as you may my have been associated by Bluetooth for a nanosecond and were dealing with covid head on then just ignore and go. Obviously if you have symptoms or you do know where you might have been in contact then act responsibly but if your fully vaccinated and well then just go

peppermintpat · 06/08/2021 18:10

Who still uses the app?? I sure don't. Turned off ping months ago.
Go on holiday and don't let this ruin it for you.

fishonabicycle · 06/08/2021 18:14

Just ignore and go - you could have been on the other side of a wall to someone!
