Mask wearing, social distancing. It affects their learning, interaction and it’s gone on for long enough. Enough is enough. It was highlighted that masks are useless against the delta variant unless N95 masks. My children will be exempt from now on. This has been going on for far too long and one of my children has become very badly affected mentally by lockdown. Fuck this.

Am a teacher (secondary) and I too am totally fed up.

I can go clubbing and invite 100 people to boogie in my kitchen, so why am I wearing a mask and teaching masked teenagers?

Just delta? I’ve seen plenty showing help masks help but nothing that says they don’t work against the delta variant.

The CDC seem to be saying masks are needed a few days ago so I think Scotland are right to continue and I hope ours follow suit. It’s a simple measure in crowded places where SD isn’t possible.

Experts say N95 masks are more effective protection against Delta variant

With the Delta variant being much more transmissible than previous variants, some experts have said we should try upgrading our face masks.

"Delta is so contagious that when we talk about masks, I don't think we should just talk about masks," said Scott Gottlieb, former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, in an interview with CBS.

Linsey Marr, an aerosol expert at Virginia Tech, told The Washington Post that "where a simple cloth mask was helpful before, it's not helpful enough now".

The woven material used in many cloth masks is not as effective at filtering particles as that used to make surgical masks and respirators, Ms Marr said.

While surgical masks are more effective, the N95 respirators can add even more protection as they are designed to fit snugly to the face.

"A surgical mask is just a rectangle and you're trying to pull it to your face," Ms Marr said. "Obviously, our faces aren't in the shape of a flat rectangle, so you inevitably end up with lots of leaks."

That’s no different that why has been known all along …. It doesn’t mean any other masks have no effect or use.

Thankfully many of the parents I know feel the same. The children just won’t be wearing masks.

They are doing away with bubbles. Hopefully this will make a big difference to the school pupils.

Social distancing is masssively disruptive and makes many businesses unviable. I don't know why people say we should 'keep' it as though it were a trivial thing.

Mask wearing in a busy stuffy classroom cannot be fun.

Many adults struggle with it.

Children in the vast majority of cases are not at risk from Covid. Over 12s who are can now be vaccinated.

We really really need to understand the risks better than this as we are doing more harm to our children than Covid when we can't evaluate the risks properly.

We always knew N95 masks protect better.

There were threads upon threads on here before about teachers up i arms that students weren't mandated to wear masks, or that they themselves weren't allowed to wear masks whilst teaching. You can choose to go clubbing or have a hundred people in your kitchen. I'm guessing you don't have as much choice as to whether you go to work or not? @Igorussia it's been known from the start that N95 masks were the gold standard. What you're saying isn't accurate at all.
