McJab and fries GrinGrinGrin

Anyone else think this is completely bizarre?

They are desperately trying to incentivise the young. It might work.

This^^

If everyone who was eligible got the jab in the first place they wouldn’t need to resort to basically bribing overgrown toddlers.

Sparklingbrook · 01/08/2021 09:38

Ooooh, send me the discount code for a dirty breakfast immediately. Grin

LizzieMacQueen · 01/08/2021 09:45

Might just piss off the teenagers who have already had their jab. I know it would if it were me!!

Itsprobablynotcominghome · 01/08/2021 10:14

Didn’t someone on Mumsnet come up with this idea? And got ridiculed?

Mindymomo · 01/08/2021 10:15

There will be incentives to get everyone vaccinated, but McDonalds should also give to those already that have had the vaccine.

EssentialHummus · 01/08/2021 10:17

Yup.

I reckon entry to a lottery for a property next, let’s see.

mayjuneapril · 01/08/2021 10:17

Haven’t there been schemes where pregnant women get vouchers for not smoking, interesting to see if this does increase uptake

Littlescottiedog · 01/08/2021 10:19

Another "lots of people do the right thing but those who don't get an extra reward for doing the right thing" bollocks plan. Why not reward people for doing the right thing straight away? They know there'll be those who don't, so tears from the beginning and you might encourage some of the reluctant ones along the way and everyone wins.

Littlescottiedog · 01/08/2021 10:20

*reward from the beginning

SouthOfFrance · 01/08/2021 10:20

Look up the video of the New York mayor scoffing a burger and fries to promote their incentive to get people vaccinated. 'Did someone say fries with that?' Grin

DennisTMenace · 01/08/2021 10:25

For those of us who have put on a spare tyre over lockdown, cheaper junk food does not seem the way back to a healthy weight! But the young and slim might find it works.

newnortherner111 · 01/08/2021 10:27

Incentives yes, but not fast food.

greenlynx · 01/08/2021 10:33

I do hope it will only be for a salad. NHS deals with a lot of problems already connected with unhealthy eating.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 01/08/2021 10:36

Won't make a jot of difference where I live. The nearest MCDonalds is 12 miles away and we don't have a delivery service so not much of an incentive really.

NannyAndJohn · 01/08/2021 10:41

Get Vaccinated To Spread Covid.

What the fuck are our government thinking?

LouLou198 · 01/08/2021 10:43

Is reducing the risk of you becoming seriously ill with Covid or passing on to others not enough of an incentive?

GeidiPrimes · 01/08/2021 10:45

Anyone else think this is completely bizarre?

Yes I do - a bit like during the first lockdown when the Italian government arranged for their citizens to have pornhub premium for free. Incentivise the hoi polloi with porn and junk food. Fucked up indeed.

SophieGiroux · 01/08/2021 10:56

Smacks of desperation, if people don't want the vaccine then leave them be! Covid is rarely a risk for young people anyway. People seem to be more ill now being double jabbed and catching covid now than they were last year while unvaccinated.

DumplingsAndStew · 01/08/2021 11:01

Is there a link?

ChloeCrocodile · 01/08/2021 11:05

Is reducing the risk of you becoming seriously ill with Covid or passing on to others not enough of an incentive?

Not for people who were always at ridiculously low risk and whose vulnerable friends/relatives have all been fully vaccinated.

YarnOver · 01/08/2021 11:05

Obesity puts you at risk from covid.
Give people maccys. Great.

Parker231 · 01/08/2021 11:09

@LouLou198

Exactly - people should have already had or booked their vaccinations. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t had both their vaccinations with the exception of DS who is having his second in a couple of weeks.
WildSwimming101 · 01/08/2021 11:12

WHAT THE FUCK!

Perfect. More obese people. More covid deaths. Great plan.

Fucking idiots.

Indigopearl · 01/08/2021 11:20

How about get vaccinated and get to throw a rotten tomato at Boris in the stocks. I expect that would dramatically boost uptake in the young.
