So...whose did a whole year without burst bubble?

From September to July, neither DD had a burst bubble at school or a day off through illness. They didn't attend school between January and March.

I realise this is down to good luck. But I'm intrigued... how lucky was this? The media and other platforms have made it seem like that children were constantly isolating.

(For full disclosure... their father was an essential worker who worked outside the home throughout the past 18 months... and only had to isolate once for 24hrs after mild symptoms while awaiting test results.)

So very close! DC's primary school had 2 cases (school staff!) last week. Prior to this we were very lucky! I think a teacher may have had it at Christmas but unsure.

No children have have had covid at the school. The 2 last week were school staff. My son had to isolate last week but Dd has not had a burst bubble.

A whole year for my kids without a burst bubble in the whole school! So impressed with the staff and brilliant school organisation.

My older one (year 7) had to isolate once. She didn’t attend school in the January lockdown, as although she was eligible for a key worker place, we felt she was old enough to stay home by herself. I (teacher) and my younger one (primary school) didn’t have to isolate once and have both been in school from September-July. Very lucky.

Yes, I can’t quite believe it, and obviously we still could get contacted to self isolate, but both of my children got through the whole year (yr 2 and yr 6) without missing school through bubbles bursting. Well, obviously we had the jan-March home schooling, but apart from that. Both other year 6 class bubbles burst today on the last day of term😢

ReceptionTA · 21/07/2021 22:03

We've just broken up for the summer- Reception and Nursery are the only classes that haven't had to self isolate. We've had most bubbles at home for the past week- Year 5 only burst yesterday.

I can't believe I've got through this whole pandemic working in a school with 2DC at school and we've been untouched, while bubbles were popping all around us.

ForgedInFire · 21/07/2021 22:05

We got so close. Our bubble burst over the weekend and we were due to break up today.

kowari · 21/07/2021 22:05

Ds, just finished year 10, no burst bubbles, a couple of cases in his year but not close contacts. Was in school from May 2020 onwards.

m0therofdragons · 21/07/2021 22:07

Dtds in year 5 are so far okay but we don’t break up until bloody Friday! Dd1 in year 8 isolated over Christmas due to last day of term Angry

kowari · 21/07/2021 22:08

No burst bubble at work either, and haven't been pinged.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 21/07/2021 22:08

So close here too - school finishes tomorrow, but DD’s bubble burst at the weekend with four days left to go. She was gutted 😭

imamearcat · 21/07/2021 22:09

Not in the whole school somehow! It's an independent 3 -18. Not that big but about 700 pupils in total.

ihearttc · 21/07/2021 23:13

I’m a TA. No classes in our school burst (I actually had covid but in half term so it didn’t affect anything) DS1’s High School was also ok and also DS2’s school.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 21/07/2021 23:38

My own class bubble didn't burst, although I had two cases of child positive the day after they would have sent us home - so, by the skin of our teeth. A third of my class were classed as vulnerable or key worker, so were in school between Jan and March. I was at home teaching the others remotely.

My child's after school club bubble closed, but not her class bubble.

SmokedPaprikaHotChilliPowder · 21/07/2021 23:50

Mine was so close. Last day tomorrow. Got the dreaded email around lunch time today. Confused

Goodtohear · 21/07/2021 23:52

Three dc all y7+ only one man aged the full year. Although we count ourselves lucky that it the other two only had one episode of 10 days each.

Seesawmummadaw · 22/07/2021 00:37

Mine did too. We’ve both worked throughout and not had to isolate either.
Every other year at dc school has isolated and many at both Dh and I work have. Pure luck!

AbstractEim · 22/07/2021 00:52

Youngest dc, year 4 with 4 forms (120 kids) have made it the whole year. Older dc Y6 did have one class close for 2 weeks in October, single positive test that didn’t spread to anyone else.

Hiddenmnetter · 22/07/2021 00:56

My daughter's bubble didn't get sent home once however the other year groups seem to constantly being sent home. Glad I don't have any kids in year 4... North East London

Bananarice · 22/07/2021 05:26

Ds2 had no bubble bust, he got ill twice but had negative pcr.

Would being a contact from tuition center not connected to school count? Because ds1 had to isolate because of it.

We had covid during January homeschooling period. So there was no bubbles burst by us.

Bananarice · 22/07/2021 05:26

East London

bringonyourwreckingball · 22/07/2021 05:33

My year 10 dd made it all the way through without self isolation, my year 8 dd had to self isolate once. I’m not sure how much testing was being done though. We’ve had a fair amount of teachers off too.

SoOvethis · 22/07/2021 05:42

My 2 eldest (12,10) never had a burst bubble. My youngest 2 had to isolate once each for 10 days. They are all at different schools.

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 22/07/2021 05:47

DC1s class bubble burst twice Sad and DC2s once

Wellbythebloodyhell · 22/07/2021 06:17

Eldest and youngest ds never had to isolate at all, middle ds bubble burst once back in October

bluechameleon · 22/07/2021 06:18

My 6 year old and me as a teacher have both made it the whole year (fingers crossed for nothing today). But there have been multiple bubbles bursting at both schools before Christmas and again in the last month so we have been lucky.
