So...whose did a whole year without burst bubble?

From September to July, neither DD had a burst bubble at school or a day off through illness. They didn't attend school between January and March.

I realise this is down to good luck. But I'm intrigued... how lucky was this? The media and other platforms have made it seem like that children were constantly isolating.

(For full disclosure... their father was an essential worker who worked outside the home throughout the past 18 months... and only had to isolate once for 24hrs after mild symptoms while awaiting test results.)

DD (Yr 5) bubble didn't burst once but three of the other years did. Friend living not very far away from here had her DD's bubble burst six times, she was hardly in at all!

FourTeaFallOut · 21/07/2021 12:36

Three kids, 14, 12 and 7 years. All three made it through from March without a burst bubble. North East.

Oysterbabe · 21/07/2021 12:37

No burst bubbles at our school. South West.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 21/07/2021 12:38

2 days of school left and covid is ripping though it, but so far no burst bubbles this year gone for either child.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/07/2021 12:39

Jammy sod's.

DD got notification to isolate because of school after the end of term. Ds had 31 school days off school due to covid, so just over 6 school weeks.

DD was not so bad but still had several periods of isolation.

ShowMeHow · 21/07/2021 12:42

Ds bubble burst 4 times including missing the last week and a half of Year 6 ☹️

Hallyup6 · 21/07/2021 12:42

Our school nursery has. My 3 year old has attended throughout lockdowns and hasn't had to isolate at all. They've still got a week to go, mind you, but the only time she's been off is when the entire school closed for a deep clean. My 11 year old in the same school has been in isolation twice.

MRex · 21/07/2021 12:42

No nursery bubbles burst, but had 5 periods of a couple of days off to due to other illnesses (tested and none covid).

Yes! South East. Numerous days off for tests when coughs appeared as they do with children (reception year so they're always getting ill) and I think every child in the class has had at least 1. But no positives and no isolations.

Very lucky.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/07/2021 12:44

It really was down to luck.

From September to Easter their school was in the centre of a town in Lincolnshire. Half the schools seemed to be constantly off, the other half getting no cases. Completely random geographically.
This past term they've been at a school covering a few villages just outside a Yorkshire town.

We were doing do well, then got an email from the school on their last day yesterday saying someone had tested positive, but only have to isolate if we get contacted by track and trace, but advise to still isolate anyway, so close

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 21/07/2021 12:44

3 children no burst bubbles and no tests/no symptoms for any of us. We are in Scotland

Stormyequine · 21/07/2021 12:44

We've been ok so far but there are still a couple of days to go. According to DS there is hardly anyone at school at the moment.

LadyCatStark · 21/07/2021 12:45

DS’s school didn’t do full bubble closures, just close contact isolations and DS managed to escape. We haven’t ever had a self isolation in our family which is very lucky I think!

GU24Mum · 21/07/2021 12:45

One had a burst bubble though not that many others in the school (primary). The two secondary ones - different schools - managed without it though in one case I think it was about the only year which didn't burst which I put down entirely to luck of the draw.

IDontDrinkTea · 21/07/2021 12:45

My daughter’s nursery hasn’t burst, despite being open the whole time

pinatastick · 21/07/2021 12:47

Nope, made it to three weeks before the end of the school year then had one child isolate followed by the other (different schools)

Hullabaloo31 · 21/07/2021 12:48

Our primary did almost the year and then Yr 6 went in the last week and Yr 4, 2 days before the end of term .

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/07/2021 12:49

When did they finish?
If this week....don't count your chickens....

My y6 bubble was Intact all year only to pop after we finished due to them backtracking 48 hours from when a child got a positive test.
My class and I are self isolating the first ten days of the holidays when we thought we had made it unscathed.

Benjispruce5 · 21/07/2021 12:50

Me. I work in primary school, DC at school and uni. DH also a keyworker.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/07/2021 12:51

Finished a week ago. Not sure we'd have had another week of luck in us as our very local rates just left 1000/100k cases for dust.

Benjispruce5 · 21/07/2021 12:51

Are some still at school? We broke up yesterday and most others around were last Friday.

Comefromaway · 21/07/2021 12:52

Ds managed the entire year (Year 12). His college did take a 2 week October half term, alternate weeks from October to January plus went online for the last week of term.

Dd was not so lucky and ended up missing all her end of year stuff after 8 years at the same school.

BigButtons · 21/07/2021 12:52

We made it all the way until last week when we lost years 3,4 and 6.
