There isn’t a huge amount more testing. It’s pretty much static on last week.

I don't understand this idea people have that Boris alone is making all of these decisions off the top of his head? confused he's advised by panels of scientists and advisors and the hundreds of people work on providing the data that goes into these decisions. Yes people have died with (not always of!) covid, but the last time cases were this high thousands were dying.

I seriously think there are some people salivating for restrictions. So they can say - told you so. And isn’t the government / this country / Uncle Tom Cobley shit. But it won’t happen because as you say @Myplantsare the link between cases and deaths has been broken.

Honestly guys we can’t live in Lockdown forever???? I felt absolutely suicidal to be working from home all this time, never again. No matter WHEN the restrictions are lifted cases and deaths will go up

Stats. in France are saying over 80% of the 4th wave are people who haven't been vaccinated.

@Cherryberrybonbon someone else who ‘knew’ people in the NHS said annual leave was cancelled from September and another person ‘knew’ we’d be back in lockdown by august via their ‘NHS friends’.

It's very sad for the individuals / families involved but we need to live with Covid now

Exactly. Get your vaccines and get on with life. Every adult in the uk has now had AMPLE opportunities to take a vaccine.

Choose not to get vaccinated, fine- but don't lockdown a nation based on those people who chose not to take a vaccine getting sick. Their choice their consequences.

Not in my Trust

Just for context, although 96 deaths were reported yesterday, currently 8 deaths actually occurred yesterday. We are yet to have more than 50 deaths a day (although its likely to happen).

I’m currently bed bound with Covid.
Despite being double vaxxed it’s floored me and I’m a healthy 40ish gal, who’s afraid of what tomorrow will bring.
Really can’t fathom why people would refuse a vaccine.

Surely this must mean the vaccine isn’t working!!! On July 19th 2020 no one had been vaccinated and less people had had Covid so no natural immunity. Yet the deaths then were on 26. Still awful but not as bad. So does the vaccine work or do we just have to take our chance?

96 people die every day. More than that actually.
96 is a tiny number.

If you look at Euromomo , which monitors European mortality and excess deaths shows the U.K. as a whole is well within ‘normal’ levels.
