If you've been out today what has been the general consensus?

Been shopping this afternoon and was so nice albeit really strange to not wear my mask! I hesitated going in at first because it felt like I'd forgotten something!

If you've been out today, what did you find was the general consensus of people around you either wearing or not wearing masks?

I actually didn't see anyone in a mask which surprised me as I thought quite a lot would still wear them!

Popped in to a Tesco metro and no staff had masks on 3 customers including myself had no masks on and about 7 customers had masks on. One lady was not happy with the customers who were not wearing masks.

l2b2 · 19/07/2021 17:11

Been to Sainsbury's and 90% were masked, including myself.
No surprise re B & M though upthread from the somewhat aggressive poster upthread. IME B & M customers round here have never bothered with government guidelines; likewise the staff.

Nightwing · 19/07/2021 17:11

Most still wearing them thankfully.

KatherineOfGaunt · 19/07/2021 17:12

South East. I'd say pretty much everyone was wearing a mask in Sainsbury's. Plus we still have to wear them in communal areas at work (primary school).

TheVanguardSix · 19/07/2021 17:14

Just to add, I had to collect my child’s bike from her school today (which is closed). She couldn’t cycle home the last day because I was in hospital. Anyway, all’s well but I had to get her bike and the bloke running the summer club asked me to mask up as I came in through the school gate. I was outdoors with him, getting DD’s bike, which was outdoors, then leaving. It was a 3 minute outdoor event and he asked me to wear a mask… even though he wasn’t wearing one and was running a holiday club in a school hall full of kids.
Total power trip. Confused

I've been out to work, we don't wear masks. Been on a bus. Majority of people wore masks, I didn't. I'm not going to wear one voluntarily anywhere but if I'm requested to then I will.

Central London and train in was much the same as before, not busy on the train, people wearing masks indoors.

I imagine there'll be fewer in the gym but that was one of those pointless things where you take it off to actually exercise and shower etc but put it on to walk in the door. If you have to take it off to do the thing you're there to do, it's probably not making much difference. Ditto restaurants etc.

nordica · 19/07/2021 17:16

I've used the train and tube in London and been to a small M&S food store at a mainline station. No significant reduction in mask wearing compared to this time last week.

The only difference was the removal of some of the one-way systems and partitions at the train station. Fortunately most people kept their distance as before.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/07/2021 17:16

popped out, out or out out?

I'll be the same. If asked I will but otherwise no. Except in a medical setting like GP or hospital

Thankfully everywhere I've been today hasn't been full of selfish cunts who don't care about other people. I'd say 98% still mask wearing

Nope you don't get to do that anymore these people are neither selfish nor cunts, they are doing what they are legally entitled to do.

So how about we don't Chuck names about.

caughtinanet · 19/07/2021 17:17

@WineBrats

I'm SE (Luton) and saw absolutely nobody wearing a mask today in B&M! Happy days!

Absolutely sick to death of people policing and thinking they're so much safer with a mask on. Fuck off with your shitty bit of fabric

I haven't worn a mask in months though. Bought myself a flower lanyard and just used that. Going to continue wearing it if shops think they can refuse me entry Grin They can if I wasn't 'exempt', but I am and have my lanyard so they can't touch me

Are you about 6? Surely no grown adult with a full brain typed this post
Dumbledoresgirl · 19/07/2021 17:17

Went to work. We still have to wear masks at work when members of the public come in.

Went to Tesco where the sign now says wear a mask if you are able to. Virtually everyone was. But we are in an area with a high rate of infection so I think that might influence people.

Amz6219 · 19/07/2021 17:18

Opposite for me, I kept my mask on (pregnant and uncomfortable not doing) and i'd say 90% of other shoppers in the supermarket were also wearing masks

Unsure33 · 19/07/2021 17:19

at work we are still wearing when away from desks

And went for lunch and 90% of customers wearing masks .

To me if shops ask for masks to be worn and you don't like it - just go somewhere else .

MrsMariaReynolds · 19/07/2021 17:19

At a local shopping centre I'd say about 70% of people were still wearing masks. Very pleasantly surprised-- as I seem to live in an area populated by posters like WineBrats.

PuzzledObserver · 19/07/2021 17:19

Been in a motorway service station (Gloucester) and a farm shop complex near Exeter today. Virtually all staff and a large majority of customers wearing them, although one queue I was in, most people seemed to have forgotten about distancing.

Then in a town centre on the south coast - the majority of shops had signs up asking people please to wear masks in consideration of others. And most people were.

brittleheadgirl · 19/07/2021 17:20

@Osrie

Happy to see everyone still thinking of others, wearing masks and stepping into road if necessary to keep distance
Please tell me that's sarcasm?!

Yep, I love it when pedestrians risk my safety when I'm driving ConfusedAbsolute madness, choosing to step into the road to avoid passing a stranger too closely!!
Jeez, I bloody despair!

brittleheadgirl · 19/07/2021 17:21

@GrannyandTom

Everyone in my neighborhood will of course be wearing masks. No mass murderers here thank you very much.
Lol
Marmite27 · 19/07/2021 17:22

I went to a school sports day. All adults except from the teachers wore masks.

Thankfully I tend to judge people using offensive language, particularly words so degrading towards women, much more harshly than someone who 'shock horror' isn't wearing a mask.

95% of the people I saw in Asda today wore masks and about 94% of them were wearing them incorrectly Hmm

CoffeeWithCheese · 19/07/2021 17:25

Wasn't wearing one when I went out - which is the norm but generally I have the lanyard on to indicate there's a reason/or I'm a lying bullshitter depending on if you've had empathy bypass surgery or not. Couple of huffy bits of faces I could see, but a lot of nods of recognition from some very relieved staff members who've been really struggling throughout and have ditched them (they've all seen me push myself to the point of some awful panic attacks in the past trying to comply).

Some... eye contact and smiles as well.

2boysand1princess · 19/07/2021 17:25

Went to 2 supermarkets today. They were very busy with shoppers prepping for eid. Almost everyone was wearing masks in store.
