Will you be giving people space in queues from tomorrow?

Freedom day is upon us. COVID is no longer a threat to us and we can now get on with our lives.

I’m just wondering what people’s plans are re distancing in queues. Are you planning to maintain some distance between you and the person in front?

I think the general public will make it really difficult to observe social distancing, as per the last twelve months.

Window1 · 18/07/2021 20:30

Space and masks here

claralara42 · 18/07/2021 20:31

I'm not England and we're not so mad to be dropping all the restrictions...so I will be working from home, wearing a mask, keeping 2m apart and not travelling as usual tomorrow.

gillysSong · 18/07/2021 20:31

What queues?

Have you seen the statistics?

If only Covid had been banished 🙄

toocold54 · 18/07/2021 20:35

Yes!!
I’ve really enjoyed the person behind not standing so close to me that they’re literally breathing down my neck or putting their shopping on before I’ve finished putting mine on because I’m taking too slow even though the person in front of me hasn’t finished packing yet.
I hope all shops continue to do this. Some things just make sense but some people need markers on the ground to help them.

Fustyoldface · 18/07/2021 20:36

Goodnight covid thanks for the memories

Florelei · 18/07/2021 20:36

Like I said upthread @AlwaysB I was being sarcastic. My humour isn’t for everyone though! 😂😂

megletthesecond · 18/07/2021 20:37

If I go to town I'll be taking my ikea bag slung over my shoulder for shopping. That's a foolproof way of keeping people back behind me.

gardeninggirl68 · 18/07/2021 20:38

i'd say 1 in 10 were wearing masks today....all our floor markers are going and i took down all our covid signage this afternoon when we closed.

left perspex dividers up as a company installed them and i didnt want to mess with them. no harm in them staying for now. the queue system has reverted to same one we had before covid.

i removed all sanitising stations except for 2. its up to the public now, us retail workers did our bit and for the most part, got nothing but abuse for it

Florelei · 18/07/2021 20:39

@AlwaysB I live in the north east and cases are crazy high. However, there are many people i know who are acting like it’s all over. I find this difficult to rationalise and can only really do so by sarcasm.

Sadly people are still going to die even if we pretend it’s over. I’m probably going a little off topic though.

yep! this is about right! most were downright rude when asked to step back. or if WE stepped back they moved forward

i even got asked 'dont you want to help me?" yes...but back off, i dont want to look at a photo on your phone, describe what you want but back off!!!

Cheeeeislifenow · 18/07/2021 20:42

I don't live in UK, so from an outsiders perspective, I just think this is madness. Didnt Israel attempt the same thing?

GirlAloud · 18/07/2021 20:44

Yes, because I’m not a selfish, disrespectful, inconsiderate arsehole.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 18/07/2021 20:45

Yes I will be continuing to distance. I will also wear my mask when I can (sometimes my asthma is bad and I find it difficult but manage 98% of the time - during these times I am even more conscious of giving people space for their benefit more than mine).

ColettesEarrings · 18/07/2021 20:45

As much as I did pre covid, yes. Enough for personal space but a full 2m/6ft, probably not.

GintyMcGinty · 18/07/2021 20:46

I have found over the last weeks that people aren't really bothering too much about space in queues.

I am in Scotland and our 'Freedom Day' is still a few weeks away - if the Chief Mammy still goes ahead with it.

thenightsky · 18/07/2021 20:48

Happy to dump the mask, but will continue to keep to 2 metres space where possible.

Why tf would you remove sanitising stations Confused
rhowton · 18/07/2021 20:49

No way!! I will go back to licking people in shops, like I used too.

LilyPond2 · 18/07/2021 20:50

Plenty of us "insiders" believe it's madness too.

DaisyWaldron · 18/07/2021 20:50

For people whom are planning on shopping without masks but maintaining distance, will you only be shopping in places with self-service tills? Because it's hard to keep a 2m distance when paying.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/07/2021 20:50

I won’t be wearing a mask in a supermarket or other large shop

Tescos want customers to continue with masks and social distancing, just had an email about it,they must've emailed anyone who's ever ordered on line...unless I'm specialGrin

grey12 · 18/07/2021 20:51

Yes. Maybe not exactly 2m but very close makes me uncomfortable nowadays

Presuming you are the boss, your retail workers have done their bit but it seems you aren't doing your bit to protect them anymore removing every trace of the still ongoing pandemic. I'd have hoped employers would have been trying to still offer some protection to their employees!
