I’ve been asked to self isolate? How??

TigerLils · 18/07/2021 11:50

I’ve just got a message and mail from the NHS asking to self isolate for 10 days. I’m absolutely fine, had a PCR test done on Tuesday (day 2 after arriving back to the UK) and that can back negative. All my lateral flow tests, everything is negative. Can I get a test done to get out of the 10 day isolation?

Background information
Anyone who is identified as a contact by NHS Test and Trace as a contact will be offered to take part in the study. This won’t include people identified as a contact through the NHS COVID-19 app or through an informal channel. A person will be eligible to take part if they:

do not have COVID-19 symptoms
live in England
are not in full-time education
are aged 18 and over
are not under the quarantine rules for arriving in England
People will not be able to take part if they have been informed that they have been in contact with someone who’s tested positive with a variant of concern (VOC) or variant under investigation, or within a known workplace or school where a VOC or variant under investigation is circulating.

The MHRA has reviewed and contributed to the study protocol and is in contact with the Principal Investigator. Following the study, the results will be used to seek MHRA exceptional use authorisation to rollout out self-use LFTs nationally for daily contact testing services.

No they are on an official trial

Yes all four just happened to be invited and just happened to find themselves assigned to the no isolation group.

Even if legally. You ignored it. Morally. You’ve got to take into consideration the children who are CEV who you’re putting in danger. My child is 7 yrs old and is one of them.

We’ve had to completely stop going to public places as of right now. I can’t risk it because of this attitude

Oh well. Ignore it.

Put my 7 yr old at risk.[/quote]
Hang on a sec - I didn't ignore anything. I have never been contacted!

valnevavaxx · 18/07/2021 18:44

@celan Of course you’ve never been contacted- you’ve been (very selfishly) giving false details.

Sadsiblingatsea · 18/07/2021 18:48

Just ignore it. It’s rubbish. All these tests do is make Matt Hancock’s mates make loads of money.

NautaOcts · 18/07/2021 18:49

Probably just me but I’m a bit surprised OP has been emailed and texted. I thought t & t phoned you

Hoppinggreen · 18/07/2021 18:52

They emailed and texted me first then phoned when I didn’t log on and register they phoned

quizqueen · 18/07/2021 19:16

Don't have Track and Trace on your phone if you are not willing to isolate! It's not a legal requirement. I don't even have a smart phone so no one knows where I go, except the pub landlord once a week who knows me. If they contacted me independently, I would want the information on how close I was to that person who has tested positive to make a decision on whether I thought I needed to isolate.

RevolvingPivot · 18/07/2021 19:22

What did the email and text say op? You must isolate for 10 days? Was there a website or number to phone. Don't rely on a chat forum to give you medical / legal advice. Call 119.

Did you even read the thread? OP doesn't have the app and it's not the app that has pinged her. Test and Trace is not the app; its a separate entity

If you don't have the app to check yourself in you have to still give your name and contact details.

My bet would be the plane - when you click through on the link in your message it will tell you the day you need to isolate until. Friends of mine flew in on Tuesday and received notification today - they're now in isolation until the 23rd July.

dementedpixie · 18/07/2021 19:36

Its not the plane if she's been told to isolate for 10 days; that was too long ago now

The message says isolate from 10 days but It isn't until you click through to register that you see the actual date you have to isolate until. The message looks pretty generic other than that.

My friends message said exactly that, isolate for ten days, clicked through, lo and behold it's from the plane as they are already five days into the ten day isolation period.

ilovesooty · 18/07/2021 20:13

@99victoria

This thread should be deleted. There is so much misunderstanding, misinformation and confusion on it
Not to mention irresponsible and conscienceless people talking about ignoring it, giving false details when signing in and saying that they can't trust people not to report them.

So many posters lacking any kind of societal responsibility or basic decency.

RancidOldHag · 18/07/2021 20:16

Othat is sad to read, but unfortunately an entirely justified comment

Heartofglass12345 · 18/07/2021 20:28

I'm guessing it's from the plane as if it was someone you knew or worked with you would have had a phone call then a text if you didn't answer.
What did the message say and when is your last day in isolation?

Hoppinggreen · 18/07/2021 21:37

You don’t find out the date of contact until you either log on via the text or email they send or if you ignore those when they call they tell you. They just give you the date of contact and the date you need to isolate until. We figure someone on our plane probably tested positive with their day 2 test
mumofblueeyes · 18/07/2021 23:52

Maybe you were on the same flight as me on Monday. It really is so annoying. They must ping the whole plane if one person gets a positive result.

mumofblueeyes · 18/07/2021 23:59

You have my absolute sympathy OP. I was on a flight from Mallorca late last Monday (i.e a week ago) and an email just came in late today. It originally said 10 days in the email but when I logged in to their ridiculous system it magically revealed I could get out on Thursday - ie. 4 days time. Just feels freaky that we are being watched and monitored.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 19/07/2021 18:17

@EvenMoreFuriousVexation

Oh fuck that, just carry on as normal. You have a tiny chance of getting stopped and fined
Nice attitude. Let’s hope she’s not working in the care sector.
louloubelx · 19/07/2021 18:23

You legally have to isolate as someone on the flight will have tested positive.
@mumofblueeyes that would be your ten days then as it’s ten days starting the day after you landed….

redandwhite1 · 19/07/2021 18:27

You've been pinged, accept it and stop trying to find loop holes to get out of it

redandwhite1 · 19/07/2021 18:28

Agreed it's in the last day or so, she's admitted being on a train

Mmmmm, a new form of Lockdown I think, could always try and play the Boris Card - doesn't apply to me
