2 jabs… anyone had both and still caught Covid?

Just wondering if I can still get Covid and how bad it is if fully vaccinated. Anyone out there with experience of this? Also who are all these people going to be with Covid over the next few weeks as I hear cases are doubling fortnightly - how many vaccinated people hmmm.

My husband tested positive today... double vaccination

TakeYourFinalPosition · 12/07/2021 19:05

The BBC had a big article on this last week. Having two jabs makes you about 70% less likely to catch Covid, they think, so there will still be a sizeable amount of vaccinated people who get it. Hopefully not badly enough to require hospitalisation or death, but they’ll still get it.

Cotswoldmama · 12/07/2021 19:05

My 81 year old nan had both jabs and still caught it even though she hardly sees anyone.

Shapesorted · 12/07/2021 19:05

My cousin has but she found out through a LFT and she's asymptomatic.

Newpuppymummy · 12/07/2021 19:05

I know quite a few people who have had both jobs and currently have covid. All have none tradition symptoms

Sunshinedaisymeadowsxx · 12/07/2021 19:05

Yes lots in my work place, at worse they feel dreadful- flu like symptoms… at best runny nose. None really poorly

Cotswoldmama · 12/07/2021 19:06

She was hospitalised but because she had lost her thyroid medication and to hat had made her very weak, so it wasn't the covid that meant she went to hospital. Thankfully she's out now and was only there about 5 days.

My DH. His symptoms were feeling as though he was getting a cold and sneezing lots. If Covid hadn’t been around he’d have been fine to go to work. He tested positive on LFT. His LFTs showed negative on day 8.

I didn’t catch it and nor did DCs.

Zoe/Covid symptom study has a list of most reported symptoms by vaccination status and the top 3 for ppl double vaccinated are headache, runny nose and sneezing.

Do we need to give Pfizer or Moderna boosters to people, particularly over 45s and the vulnerable, who had AZ?

Is Covaxin similar to AZ?

Cookerhood · 12/07/2021 19:14

I know someone in their 20s who had it (double vaxxed). She was achy & coldy

Tealightsandd · 12/07/2021 19:15

If the government want people to take 'personal reasonability', they need to know their level of risk.

One thing we need a breakdown of the double jabbed hospitalisations and deaths. Which vaccines they were given.

Cookerhood · 12/07/2021 19:16

Is Covaxin similar to AZ?
No

Indigopearl · 12/07/2021 19:16

The zoe app has data on the covid positivity rate in the unvaccinated, 1 vaccine and 2 vaccine groups. Currently 1% in the fully vaccinated, 3% 1 dose, 5% unvaccinated. So fully vaccinated are clearly still catching it but at a lower rate.

Go and listen to today's press conference. It's explained in all the statistical detail.

There's no need for meaningless anecdata, scientists are spending thousands of person hours actually finding out the true data

I assume you must know that vaccines aren't 100% effective, the press conference will give you the exact %ages

fuckedandbombed · 12/07/2021 19:17

My colleagues sister was double jabbed and tested positive. She was ill with it - flu like symptoms and in bed for 3 days. Still recovering now 2 weeks later .

Cookerhood · 12/07/2021 19:18

It's an inactivated virus, more of a traditional vaccine.

Yes just checked. You're right.

We still need to have a vaccine breakdown for the double jabbed hospitalisations and deaths.

In America, 99.5% of the deaths are now in the unvaccinated. Whereas here in the UK, around 30-40% are double jabbed.

It might be that things will change as Delta spreads more in the US - but when people are told to take responsibility, they need to be in possession of all possible relevant data.

Do you mind sharing what the unusual symptoms are to watch out for?
Nuuktown · 12/07/2021 19:27

I know 5 people who’ve had covid in the last month and 4 of them were double jabbed. All had the same sort of symptoms I.e loss of taste and smell, feeling exhausted etc but none ended up in hospital thank goodness

StrangeAddiction · 12/07/2021 19:29

I'm double jabbed lft and pcr confirmed positive.

Dh and ds1 both double jabbed currently testing negative on lft's

pilingup · 12/07/2021 19:40

Two people I know got it last week, one was barely symptomatic and the other felt quite rough but only for a couple of days.

TakeTimeForU · 12/07/2021 19:48

A breakdown of the vaccinated going into hosp or dying is very important. I would like to know this. I don’t want to be having boosters etc when I can still catch Covid. Seems silly. I might be someone who was never going to die or end up in hospital anyway. Seems like u have to make a choice on the what if

Yes. It was like a cold. Same for 3 double jabbed friends.
