I do see why people working in very hot environments expected to wear them for hours at a time and getting paid fuck all might have a different take, though

The litmus test will be next weeks heatwave.

Wizzbangfizz · 14/07/2021 20:01

Delighted our office has said we don't have to but those that want to can! City centre office (already did hybrid working) so no change there!

Jellykat · 14/07/2021 20:02

Just to add, mask wearing is still a legal requirement in all indoor public settings i.e shops, buses (but not hospitality) for at least another 3 weeks, hooray!

EeeByeGummieBear · 14/07/2021 20:09

I will. My choice.
However I'm worried about people thinking I'm 'virtue signalling' or whatever some or the decisive language has been.
Why can't we accept some will, some won't and let us be comfortable with that?
We've all been through the shit recently- different people have been affected more by Covid, some more by the restrictions.
I really hope people will remember to be compassionate (but judging by some comments on here I'm not sure)

Mixmeup · 14/07/2021 20:29

I definitely will.

However if I catch Covid (and any other bugs) it’ll almost certainly be from my school age children.

Pretty sure not in England.

EdgeOfACoin · 14/07/2021 20:33

@MercyBooth

I think this will have the opposite affect on the vaccine uptake that they want. Its dropping amongst 18 to 24 year old males They see nothing changing
Good point. I mean, what is the point of being fully vaccinated if we have to socially distance and wear masks all the time anyway? I can understand why younger people can't be bothered to get the jab.

I intend to ditch my mask from Monday.

COVID isn't going anywhere. There will always be another winter. There will always be another variant. We have to learn to live with it.

Jellykat · 14/07/2021 20:38

Againstmachine I forgot to add the vital bit.... in Wales! Grin
Just such a relief as i work in retail.

UndercoverToad · 14/07/2021 21:07

@EdgeOfACoin
So with 1000000 cases of Long Covid currently in the UK, 33000 of which are children - you are going to ditch your mask.

Great idea.

AntiHop · 14/07/2021 21:09

Yes I will in crowded places like shops and public transport.

Cheesecake53 · 14/07/2021 21:14

Yes, I will.

stopgap · 14/07/2021 21:14

No. My US state dropped the mask mandate the first week in June. It’s still federal law to wear one on the train and the airport, so that I’ve done. We even had to wear masks at the gym, and that was bloody awful. I seriously hope masks don’t return.

Againstmachine · 14/07/2021 21:17

Yep well it never helped them did it, and it's post viral illness which existed before covid.

LongCovidSucks · 14/07/2021 21:23

I’ll wear an FFP3 mask in really crowded places if it helps me not to get Covid again or to reduce the viral load from any new infection.

The cost outweighs the cash I’ve lost from barely working.

EspressoDoubleShot · 14/07/2021 21:24

Yes absolutely

UndercoverToad · 14/07/2021 21:25

@Againstmachine oh, I forgot. You’re the superior being who knows better than professors and medics worldwide. Or you’ve been watching dodgy videos on the ‘dark web’. I’d go for the latter.

Againstmachine · 14/07/2021 21:30

oh, I forgot. You’re the superior being who knows better than professors and medics worldwide

Oh I forgot you are the one who disagrees that covid is a mild illness for most despite everyone telling you that including sceintists worldwide.

Yes.

UndercoverToad · 14/07/2021 21:42

Which scientists? I’d love a link! Covid is mild, no need for masks/lockdowns/restrictions/vaccines.

And nothing banned and hosted by some dubious alternative platform please??

Againstmachine · 14/07/2021 21:55

Chris whitty said covid is mild for most, the whoo says it is mild for most, why can't you see this is true.

Againstmachine · 14/07/2021 21:56

I'm not providing you with links as you can Google that covid is mild for most people even the WHO say that , what is your agenda saying it isn't.

TheVampiresWife · 14/07/2021 22:21

@UndercoverToad From the WHO. Covid is, for the majority of people, a mild illness. I'm not sure why you're insisting this isn't the case when 'professors and medics worldwide' have repeatedly said that it is.

Timeisavirtue · 14/07/2021 23:00

So apparently my company is still making masks compulsory... so I have to struggle to wear a mask whilst working why customers comes in free will with no masks.

FootballisgoingtoRome · 14/07/2021 23:03
