Yes I wondered about that. I suppose the GPs are able to judge who is clinically unable to wear a mask and your relative would be excused.
I imagine they are trying to eliminate those who refuse on principle rather than those who cannot actually breathe.
But the issue with that though, is that not everyone who can’t wear masks, can’t do do due to breathing difficulties and the GP may not know their reasons or not be able to make a judgement on their other conditions
My daughter has Tourette’s - her tics are such that most of the time she either rips them up or can’t get them on her face in the first place. They also exacerbate her self injurious tics when she can get them on. The last time she managed to put one on she head butted a metal railing, knocked herself out and ended up in A&E. The time before that she punched and scratched herself in the face so much that she looked like she’d been beaten up.
Some people with Tourette’s have no issues with masks, some like my daughter do. A GP would know that she had it, but not the effect masks had on her
