@Tinpotspectator

"They can't enforce mask wearing now, when it's mandatory, so they certainly won't be able to when it's not."

I keep reading this, but I see practically no evidence of people not wearing them in my town.

There were loads of people without them in Aldi yesterday. Nobody turned a hair.

@puppeteer agree - the article was written last year, before we knew what we were dealing with. But I still think it’s interesting.

sadperson16 · 02/07/2021 19:07

I stand by my assertion that the mask fans take the moral high ground. They bloody love it, telling us all how they are being public spirited and
how they are protecting us all.
No you're not, you are making a choice, just like I am making one.

Hornbill123456789 · 02/07/2021 19:08

Barereality=Laura Dodsworth = who in my opinion is a conspiracy theorist. I don’t see much difference between the likes of LD, Gillian McKeith. Naomi Wolf, Laurence Fox etc.

They won't be completely removed. You can guarantee in hospitals and medical centres they are here to stay. My Dr told me this and it makes sense

MercyBooth · 02/07/2021 19:12

Reminds me a bit of Leavers. They win but still arent happy.

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 02/07/2021 19:13

I stopped wearing mine when it came out Matt Hancock was ignoring the rules. I am sick of all of it I am done! I have followed the rules been forced to not work but without any government help, watch my daughter struggle massively with her mental health to the point of her self harming all to protect the elderly and the vulnerable well now they are protected I’m done. More people are dying of flu right now we just don’t get the daily figures it’s all gone too far!

janj2301 · 02/07/2021 19:14

I'll still wear mine in buildings and on public transport. If I get a cold/flu in future I will wear one everywhere

TheJade · 02/07/2021 19:14

Time to crack the lipsticks out if that’s the case 🤞🏼
I haven’t worn it since the masks came in 🤣🤣

MercyBooth · 02/07/2021 19:17

@Stilltalkstotrees You must be new round here. Because people have been criticised in the past for removing their mask to sneeze into a tissue then putting the mask back on. Its either that or sneeze into a mask If you know a third alternative.............well im all ears.

Hornbill123456789 · 02/07/2021 19:18

It’s my bullshit radar…on high alert.

Grow up. Mask fans Hmm
knickerelasticgonetwang · 02/07/2021 19:27

I personally feel safer wearing one. I do not want the restrictions to end yet. Working in the nhs you see all sorts and know some people can be asymptotic and pass it on. So please bear with it and keep each other safe

No.
HalzTangz · 02/07/2021 19:33

I think we will be told masks in public indoor areas are to stay and social distancing in public, but closed businesses can reopen

HalzTangz · 02/07/2021 19:35

Expect the majority will just put on a mask

Xenite89 · 02/07/2021 19:50

That's what I'm worried about, I had to wear a mask before the pandemic and I got strange looks for it then... People are going to think I'm an over worrier or something now.

SycamoreGap · 02/07/2021 19:51

@TheVampiresWife

Learn to live with it? Or be prepared to die from it? Because that's the likelihood for a lot of CEV people for whom the vaccine hasn't worked

I'm clinically vulnerable. There were lots of common ailments that could have proved fatal for me long before Covid (and oddly nobody insisted on everyone wearing masks to protect people like me then).

I'm doubly vaccinated and as safe as I'm ever going to be. I say, live with it. I certainly wouldn't expect others to live with restrictions (even fairly minor things like masks) indefinitely in order to protect me.

Depends on your reason for being CEV - Some will have a good response to the vaccine, the reality for some blood cancer patients is very different.

Surely if you work in the NHS you know that asymptotic doesn't mean what you think it means Confused

Fair point and after reading some posts here I fully accept this.

SpnBaby1967 · 02/07/2021 20:55

Why are people still so scared of catching covid, were you scared of catching a cold (and yes before the CEV people jump up I realise you're different) because for the vast majority it is no worse than a cold.

I had covid over xmas, still worked all the way through (wfh clearly). I've had worse colds, heck, my vaccine side effects were massively worse!!

Stop living life in fear of a bloody virus (again CEV people see above) and forget the pathetic arguments over mask wearing.

Wear one, dont wear one. I honestly dont give a shit. Just stop bullying people not in your "team".

Covid is not the worst thing happening on this planet right now. If covid, and fellow shoppers wearing/not wearing masks is your biggest issue then I suspect you are far more privileged than you realise.

Nearly47 · 02/07/2021 20:57

I wish we would keep some restrictions during summertime. Take advantage of the warmer weather to keep meeting on outdoor settings, keep the mask on closed spaces, etc. It's not so difficult. All the under 18 are unvaccinated and I dread the consequences of this virus replicating unchalenged among kids. The truth is that we don't know the consequences of whatever new variant that will appear on this scenario. It would be good if people would have common sense and be cautious without compulsory measures but It is very likely that the moment restrictions are lifted the pubs will be full, employers will demand people to return to office, etc and will endup in some sort of lockdown when the NHS starts struggling again
