So happy if it’s true.

I'll continue wearing one. I've got used to wearing it and am fine to keep going. The Delta variant is currently rampaging through my local area. I know a number of people who are currently ill, and an old friend of the family died from it.
For me, keeping wearing one makes sense, not just due to reduced risk to me but also because I want to minimise my chances of passing it on. I don't think we've seen the end of this quite yet.

OldTurtleNewShell · 01/07/2021 11:55

I like the poster who sneezed on masks refusers grin. After all, you can't control a sneeze can you?
What an incredibly fucked up thing to do during a pandemic.

I didn’t read that part how depressing to cheer it along.

if people don't believe in masks, they won't mind will they? That's the point.
MrsLCSofLichfield · 01/07/2021 12:01

Fuck the DM.

OldTurtleNewShell · 01/07/2021 12:02

I honestly don't care if they believe in masks or not. They could be full bonkers covid conspiracy theorist. Deliberately sneezing on someone during a pandemic is a terrible thing to do, no matter who you're sneezing on.

MachiaNelly · 01/07/2021 12:03

I’m worried shops and other places will insist on them anyway

I hope they do. I work 20 hours a week in one.

kindaclassy · 01/07/2021 12:03

I don't know if they actively do it in real life, but that poster was funny.

It never was mandatory, did you miss that?
Anyone could call themselves exempt, and no-one could enforce them.

You're cheering on deliberately passing on germs to people with hidden disabilities. The impact of a cold to someone with severe asthma can be lethal.
MustBeThin · 01/07/2021 12:04

I can't wait to be free of masks, I'll actually feel like my life will be returning to normal. I haven't done any sort of proper shopping or anything since masks became mandatory because I have rosacea and can't bare wearing them for long. I've been doing a quick 20min supermarket shop and that's it.

I don't care if people choose to wear them, but I think some wearers will still be huffing and moaning at people that don't wear them even when it's not compulsory to do so. The thing that worries me most about long use of masks, aren't people concerned that eventually their immune system will start to weaken with prolonged use, I thought we needed germ exposure to some extent? I'm no scientist though so I probably talking out of my arse. Grin

I'm also happy to say I've never had anybody actually cough or sneeze right in my face in my life either like people on this thread so I'm more than happy to take my chances without wearing a mask.

UrAWizHarry · 01/07/2021 12:06

I don't really have an issue with masks.

If they make people working in places such as shops more comfortable - ignoring any debate about how useful they are in controlling the spread - then I'll happily wear one.

The government do seem hell bent on repeating the same mistakes over and over again. We're not out of this yet, not by a long shot.

PixelatedLunchbox · 01/07/2021 12:06

Meh. I'll still be wearing mine in crowded places. I normally get the flu and colds every year, but not had anything since April 2020.

MachiaNelly · 01/07/2021 12:08

But I do think when I see a non mask wearer 'it's your funeral. YOU will be the one catching covid if you have no mask on.

Wearing a mask is to protect others, not yourself.

kindaclassy · 01/07/2021 12:09

With my kids mixing at school, us being stuck in public transports which are absolutely packed, the reopening of everything indoors, no, I am not worried about my immune system frankly!

MachiaNelly · 01/07/2021 12:14

The mask isn't to protect you. It's to protect others. Other people wearing masks is to protect you.

How did that poster know the maskless person was a 'mask refuser' and not exempt? Some people who are exempt have vulnerabilities which mean becoming infected with covid (or flu, or even a cold) could be fatal.

And there you are, congratulating them. While vilifying those who don't (or can't, you've no idea which) wear masks.

This pandemic really has brought out the very worst in some people.

Jabbinell · 01/07/2021 12:24

I blardy well hope so! So over them!

motogogo · 01/07/2021 12:29

To be honest we got rid of wearing them at work weeks ago once the vulnerable people had been double vaxxed. I'm finding them hard in public places since it got warmer

LucilleTheVampireBat · 01/07/2021 12:33

same way as I care about CF parents sending kids to school with D&V. I do judge selfish twats who don't care about others, when it really takes no effort at all to wear the bloody thing

It's not like anyone is asking you to give a kidney. Just put a mask, how hard can it be?

For many people it is hard. So turn your "selfish twat" judgement back on yourself.

I really will not miss the Cult of Mask.

SusannahSophia · 01/07/2021 12:39

I'll continue wearing one at my school, I think. It's full of teenagers. And probably the supermarket too, while cases are still so high.

Arrowheart · 01/07/2021 12:44

I think it not being compulsory is a good thing as those who still want to choose to wear one can do so and those who hate the covid theatre props that they are, like me, can burn them.

kindaclassy · 01/07/2021 12:46

LucilleTheVampireBat

give over, you can't call "selfish twats" people who are inconveniencing themselves to protect OTHERS. Nice try, but it really does not work.
