Town centre was like the school holidays today

Went to my nearest town to go to a couple of shops at around 11:30 today. The amount of kids out with their parents (mainly primary aged) was crazy. It was like the school holidays are here (they aren’t and won’t be for a few weeks).
Mostly kids whos bubbles have burst and are meant to be isolating I guess.
Many many children with parents in and out of high street shops.
Not saying it’s wrong or right or judging parents - more the fact that it seems so many more are not complying with isolations this time, yet these kids are missing their education.
If the government think that by shutting a bubble the kids are all going to be at home they are very wrong.

It was an INSET day where I live today, could there have been one where you are too?

VaccineSticker · 25/06/2021 21:18

People are trying hard to spread covid. Well done. 😒 here’s a slow clap.
And nice to see you blaming the government when you should be blaming the parents.

accentdusoleil · 25/06/2021 21:19

School holidays in Scotland

BlueSurfer · 25/06/2021 21:19

Inset day here.

MyFloorIsLava · 25/06/2021 21:20

So town full for just school children then no adults? OK for you to be there op but not children....🤔
OliveTree75 · 25/06/2021 21:22

There was quite a few kids in a cafe I was in on monday. I did wonder if it was an Inset day

FluffyPJs · 25/06/2021 21:22

Inset day here too

TruelyonelastSchlep · 25/06/2021 21:23

We have had an inset day this week at our school

Mind you another local school recently had bubbles burst and lots of the children were with parents on the high street. Same thing happened before Christmas

Some people just don't care. Never did.

VaccineSticker · 25/06/2021 21:39

@MichelleScarn yes because if they are meant to be isolating then by law they should be at home isolating. What a joke.
Next time restrictions get tightened up again don’t come crying on these forums complaining about his fed you are with lockdown.

looptheloopinahulahoop · 25/06/2021 21:42

OP people have already said there were INSET days today. There were here too.

Will people stop casting aspersions please. The odd person might have been out when they should have been isolating but INSET days are far more likely,

The constant santimoniousness and inaccurate dark threats of restrictions coming back is very tedious.

wizbit93 · 25/06/2021 22:12

It might be like the school DD goes to. About one third of the year group have been isolating, but the whole year are off because the school have decided to run the virtual school again for a few weeks. The other two thirds don't need to isolate.

justwanttodanceagain · 25/06/2021 22:18

I was in town today for the first time in a while and I found it quite weird tbh. Walked down a narrow (slightly wider than a car) street which had arrows indicating that you should stay on the left to social distance - then halfway along it was a covered over bit - outdoors, but quite sheltered and people were sitting at close together tables and nobody had a mask on.

Note - I'm not judging anything here - I just find it ridiculous that there are such discrepancies. It would have made a lot of sense if they'd simply said anything goes outdoors and kept indoor stuff more restricted - particularly as the weather is improving.

wowhie · 25/06/2021 22:25

Inset day for my dc

Don't think l ever have.... and if it does why is it the fault of children and parents?

Clarabellawilliamson · 25/06/2021 22:29

We also had inset across our MAT today- didn't realise it was such a popular day for one!

Perhaps parents are fed up with their children being under virtual house arrest with their mental health being destroyed just in case they have a virus which majority of adults are now vaccinated against
lastcall · 25/06/2021 22:33

Inset day for some schools.

Isolation flouting outings for families who are fed up that bubbles/year groups have been sent home again (our school has a number of these as we currently have 2 year groups at home; we've seen them out and about).

Year 11s have been released early by many schools; my own Year 11 is off visiting family and out and about.

Home schooled children have increased this year.

Longdistance · 25/06/2021 22:33

My dds school had an INSET day today. Another school in the town I work in also had one.

MisgenderedSwan · 25/06/2021 22:33

Inset day in Hampshire today. Also no bubbles currently isolating in our area. But nice try at spreading panic and false news.

I know for a fact there are many schools here that have classes and whole year groups isolating. My own child’s school currently has 270 pupils isolating due to 1 member of staff testing positive!

Well the 'government' are too busy off sniffing other people to really give a shit. What's your actual point?
CandyLeBonBon · 25/06/2021 23:04

Snogging not sniffing.

Although you never know!

Nonmaquillee · 25/06/2021 23:06

Inset day here, and same for three other friends who live in three totally different parts of the UK.

PickAChew · 25/06/2021 23:12

We have a local school completely closed, this week, but not all pupils are meant to be isolating.
