Town centre was like the school holidays today

Went to my nearest town to go to a couple of shops at around 11:30 today. The amount of kids out with their parents (mainly primary aged) was crazy. It was like the school holidays are here (they aren’t and won’t be for a few weeks).
Mostly kids whos bubbles have burst and are meant to be isolating I guess.
Many many children with parents in and out of high street shops.
Not saying it’s wrong or right or judging parents - more the fact that it seems so many more are not complying with isolations this time, yet these kids are missing their education.
If the government think that by shutting a bubble the kids are all going to be at home they are very wrong.

My DD’s nursery room is closed at the mo but my DD isn’t isolating as she wasn’t in on the day the positive case attends. But all the staff are having to isolate & not enough to cover so they’ve closed. So you’ll see my DD out & about. There are plenty of cases like this..

frozendaisy · 26/06/2021 11:01

We might be the ones who whip out the 16-digit number at the till but by gove 85% of what we buy is for the kids.

So yes we do need them with us to measure up clothes, shoes, even buying the right type of cherries or Lego set.

Adults whom have stopped growing can get all they need online perhaps they need to stay in to allow families more space when out shopping.

FFS as if there isn't enough division in the world without attitudes like this.

I hope we piss off judgemental arseholes when we are out. You want to keep our kids effectively under house arrest......say what you like to us when you are out it really will be water off a ducks back. Seethe, get cross, raise that blood pressure, keep those judgements coming, let it spoil your day, tut, do more tutting, go home bore your partner, do more tutting, we'll be having fun in our new football boots, reading new summer books and building far too expensive Lego sets.

Fucking hell.

Baileysforchristmas · 26/06/2021 11:10

@NannyAndJohn you didn’t answer my question?

RocheLobe · 26/06/2021 11:11

@TheKeatingFive

No one would really think that is a sensible response, it’s clearly to wind people up

With this particular poster, I can never decide.

I know, but talking about fathers and older siblings is surely just about wanting to get a load of responses about how not all children have two parents available, older siblings, and so on, that it must be about getting people riled up instead of actually believing this to be true
Baileysforchristmas · 26/06/2021 11:15

I think it’s a wind up too

frozendaisy · 26/06/2021 11:31

@Baileysforchristmas

I think it’s a wind up too
What is the point in just winding people up? Don't people have anything better to do? Unfortunately, maybe not this poster, I think there are people who think like this...........oh well never mind. Hmm
Watapalava · 26/06/2021 11:35

My dds should be isolating

They are not

They can’t go to school but they’re not isolating

I’m doing daily tests and that’s it

The same thing track and trace are currently offering adults in my area - they’re ringing them up and offering them to stop isolation in relation to daily tests

They aren’t offering kids this but I’m doing it anyway

Kids have had a shit deal as it is

frozendaisy · 26/06/2021 11:35

I am taking my two kids out this afternoon to browse, not buy as it's a big purchase, quite expensive garden chairs.

In a big garden centre.

Lots of older adults like garden centres.

But if they are not organised enough to go during the week with fewer children around then there is nothing we can do for their idiocy.

We honestly, if there are, will not notice or care about any tutting. If an arsehole says anything I'll train the kids to start coughing that should level the playing field! Grin

LucilleTheVampireBat · 26/06/2021 11:40

@NannyAndJohn

Even if it's not a school day, parents should still think twice about whether or not they really need to drag their children to the shops with them.
Oh have a day off you utter bore 🤣
NannyAndJohn · 26/06/2021 11:47

@RocheLobe I specifically said IF they have someone else at home.

NannyAndJohn · 26/06/2021 11:49
@NannyAndJohn do you test before you go to the shops? You could be spreading it?
I wear a mask, keep 2m distance, sanistise, and buy online where possible.

Unfortunately Joe Public think it's 2019 again.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 26/06/2021 11:54

Luckily you have the option of hiding indoors as long as you like! Crack on. I can't imagine you'll be missed...

TheKeatingFive · 26/06/2021 11:54

Unfortunately Joe Public think it's 2019 again.

And for you it’ll be April 2020 forever. We get it.

Enjoy your hand gel and SD.

TheKeatingFive · 26/06/2021 11:55

😆

@newnortherner111

OP, please do not judge parents, unless you know any who think Mr Johnson has done an adequate or good job of responding to the pandemic.

There would be no issue if India had been on the red list at the same time as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I literally said in my post I’m not judging. If my kids are asked to isolate because of a class bubble closing they won’t be staying in for 10 days I can tell you. Not sure I would take them round busy shops mind, but they would be out in the open air for walks / bike rides. What I’m getting at is that if the government think by shutting hundreds of thousands of kids out of their school, they are nicely isolating at home getting on with home learning, many many arnt!

If it hasn't already been said, year 11 and year 13 (gcse and a level years) have now finished for the school year where I am. Could be those out and about as well.

CoffeeWithCheese · 26/06/2021 12:31

It's the time of year lots of our local schools do a Friday-Monday INSET day combo to try to give families a "legitimate" time to do a term time short break without hitting attendance.

I'm buggered if I'm locking my kids up to keep neurotic child haters happy these days.

Comedycook · 26/06/2021 12:34

I really really struggle to care anymy

Comedycook · 26/06/2021 12:34

*anymore

NannyAndJohn · 26/06/2021 12:47

And that is why we'll end up back in lockdown.

elliejjtiny · 26/06/2021 12:49

2 of my dc were on an inset day yesterday, they and 3 other schools in our town always have 2 days inset on the last Thursday and Friday in June. We were at the trampoline park for our first non essential trip out in 16 months. It was really busy, much more than I expected although it was mostly mums with toddlers, only about 10 school aged dc.

Chillychangchoo · 26/06/2021 12:51

No one I know is complying. I certainly will not be isolating mine ever again. I would isolate if we ourselves had a positive covid case within our family but other than that we are totally done.

I’ll be taking my kids out and about.

Baileysforchristmas · 26/06/2021 12:54

@NannyAndJohn not because of the footballers then

Town centre was like the school holidays today
Town centre was like the school holidays today
Wellbythebloodyhell · 26/06/2021 12:55

@NannyAndJohn

In a pre-Covid world, children traipsing round the shops wouldn't bother me at all

But while cases are rising exponentially, is it really that wise to have your children following you around Boots and the Co-Op if they could have stayed at home with their father or an older sibling?

If kids being out in shops bother you so much why don't you stay at home instead
OliveTree75 · 26/06/2021 12:56

Well done, you're a saintHmm
