Town centre was like the school holidays today

Went to my nearest town to go to a couple of shops at around 11:30 today. The amount of kids out with their parents (mainly primary aged) was crazy. It was like the school holidays are here (they aren’t and won’t be for a few weeks).
Mostly kids whos bubbles have burst and are meant to be isolating I guess.
Many many children with parents in and out of high street shops.
Not saying it’s wrong or right or judging parents - more the fact that it seems so many more are not complying with isolations this time, yet these kids are missing their education.
If the government think that by shutting a bubble the kids are all going to be at home they are very wrong.

@CandyLeBonBon why so aggressive? I was just commenting that there seem to be a lot of kids out and about in the week day time when there isn’t usually! Many schools here have multiple year groups who are meant to be isolating

There's one case at my child's school, not in the same year, but the entire school is closed for 10 days ( it's a very small school). So there may well be lots of kids off but not necessarily having to isolate.

AfternoonToffee · 25/06/2021 23:24

I can't even be bothered about it anymore. Look at the pubs, the football stadiums, Trafalgar Square, Hancock and tell me that little Billy out with his Mum is to blame for rising cases.

One teacher. 270 pupils isolating absolutely ridiculous.

I know. It really is. Totally don’t blame parents at all.

Personally I couldn't care less if kids don't isolate any more...

Branleuse · 25/06/2021 23:29

They might be on holiday. Lots of scots will be holidaying in the uk like most other people this year and

pollylocketpickedapocket · 25/06/2021 23:43

@VaccineSticker

People are trying hard to spread covid. Well done. 😒 here’s a slow clap. And nice to see you blaming the government when you should be blaming the parents.
Oh piss off have you seen the way the government have behaved lately??? If you want to fuck up your kids lives(if you’ve even got any) go ahead. I and many other refuse to be under house arrest any longer and about time to.

Me too

Even if it's not a school day, parents should still think twice about whether or not they really need to drag their children to the shops with them.

Sorry, cross post!

NuffSaidSam · 25/06/2021 23:56

4 kids at 4 different schools in 3 different LEA's all had an inset day today. It's never worked out like that before, it must just be a popular day for an inset day!

Howshouldibehave · 25/06/2021 23:59

Some schools have so many children off isolating that they send the rest of the year home and go 100% online for that year group. Those children aren’t expected to isolate though so would be allowed to go to town.

We had INSET today though at my school as well.

Erm... pandemic???

NannyAndJohn · 26/06/2021 01:31

Shops are outside, @CandyLeBonBon?

ineedaholidaynow · 26/06/2021 01:37

If schools are online why wouldn’t the children be at home online too?

Seems a strange day for an INSET day, ours are usually tagged on to holidays either at the start or end. Wonder why so many schools had one now?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 26/06/2021 01:40

Inset at this time of year is for school development planning for next academic year.

My child had inset today, so she went to her grandparents last night until tomorrow. 9pm tonight we got the email- her after school club bubble has gone. Oops.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 26/06/2021 06:00

Pathetic that people are still moaning about other people going out.

Toebean · 26/06/2021 06:17

Couldn’t agree more

Yup. At some point, the local authorities will wake up and realise that closing whole year groups or schools because one person has a positive result for a virus which will not cause a significant illness in the vast majority of people, is unsustainable. Parents are already questioning the decision to close bubbles where I am, especially as they're being advised to get all children in the closed bubble PCR tested. And then if another a symptomatic child has a positive result, the bubble remains closed for a day or so longer. Unless the child actually has covid (and even then....) it's ridiculous for them to be isolating when then rest of their household is free to come and go as they please.

Why the bloody hell should I think about taking my kids shopping with me?
