Do you think this will happen? I hope so.

Really really hope we can open up and ditch masks forever. Fed up of this limbo we’re living in. Ok it’s better than lockdown but there’s still so much we can’t do.
But I’m not going to get my hopes up, they kept saying there was nothing in the data to stop them opening up but instead they delayed Sad We’ve been here before.

MercyBooth · 23/06/2021 21:50

@bellamountain Some on here were saying last year that poorer people should make themselves face masks out of old socks.

MercyBooth · 23/06/2021 21:59

I hate summer and love Christmas.

For you Boris.

Last Christmas you promised five days but the very next day you took that away
This year to save me from tears
I will not take any notice.......notice. (repeat)

Another promise.........more lies.
We keep our distance but still the Covid spies.
Tell me now do you still like to fine us.
Another lockdown it wouldnt surprise us.
Merry Christmas, the rich still went on their trips
Got their haircut while pissing on our chips.
We know you see us as plebs
If you locked down now, public be abused again.
November lockdown gave us hope in our hearts.
Another promise broken, removing the Christmas spark
Ooh Ooh But if you locked down now we"d have to do it AGAIN!

Last Christmas you promised five days. But the very next day you took that away
This year to save me from tears.
I will not take any notice.......notice (repeat)

After today’s numbers, I’m now starting to worry about my UK holiday end of July. Opening up with thousands of daily cases is simply insane and I can not see how BoJo can spin or gaslight the population into believing it would be safe.

The risk to the double vaxxed vulnerable would still be extremely high, the risk of further mutations will be extremely high, the risk of long covid will be extremely high. They’ve backed themselves into a corner.

@MercyBooth both threads did make me laugh 😂

It's running rife through ds' primary year group at the moment so I hope not.

Quartz2208 · 23/06/2021 22:11

I think hewiseoneincognito the problem is that so many rightly or wrongly have brought into the narrative that it is safe. There is no need to gaslight or spin it into accepting the case numbers - that bit has already been done. You only have to look at the media to see that is true

The risk to the double vaxxed vulnerable would still be extremely high, the risk of further mutations will be extremely high, the risk of long covid will be extremely high. They’ve backed themselves into a corner.

Yes they have because the fact it people see those now (again rightly or wrongly) as an acceptable risk they are will to take and do not see it as a high risk

They have backed themselves into a corner because it is difficult to see what point there can be anything but all restrictions removed

NeverForgetYourDreams · 23/06/2021 22:17

Hope so. I'm close to ditching masks now anyway. Nothing will happen. Loads not wearing masks in shops now

Sunshinegirl82 · 23/06/2021 22:44

RSV is the main cause of bronchiolitis which is a pretty common cause of hospitalisation in infants. I know numerous people who have had their babies admitted to hospital for help with their breathing due to bronchiolitis, it can be really nasty.

I can see why very high levels of RSV would therefore be a concern on top of everything else. I think it's also a bit of a reminder in a way that actually for the most part our usual low level exposure to various viruses etc isn't necessarily a bad thing. Obviously we had to take action due to covid but keeping things like masks etc in place permanently with a view to avoiding being exposed to anything ever is counterproductive in my view.

Watapalava · 23/06/2021 22:44

notice that article said that from july 19th it's advice not law

Emphasis will be on personal responsibility - exactky like they said on last briefinl

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/06/2021 22:48

Oh god. If we’re trusting the U.K. public to take personal responsibility we’re probably fucked.

It’s not been a resounding success so far Grin

omgthepain · 23/06/2021 22:58

I'd hope they will
But realistically can't see it

twelly · 23/06/2021 23:14

We need to end the lockdown and move back to normal life. We cannot carry on like this - people can make their choices at that point and those who want to stay inside can

CupOfTPlease · 23/06/2021 23:19

I honestly am just doing what I want to now. They don't seem to know what they're doing.
