Do you think this will happen? I hope so.

@Baileysforchristmas

The more this goes on the more I fear this is control by the state, if we were all in it together fair enough but one rule for one. I know it’s always gone on but the government are getting more blaze by the minute.
It’s cover for what they are doing elsewhere. While we’re all complaining about the government putting restrictions in place to control a public health situation we’re not looking at the places they quietly are removing challenges to their power and corruption.
Arrowheart · 23/06/2021 08:15

@NeverFull YES I do. You're right though, of course you are. A small number of people singing socially distanced in a church indoors is going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than the huge numbers of drunks singing at a football match cuddling each other and singing and shouting. Silly me. Silly silly me.

Arrowheart · 23/06/2021 08:17

@NeverFull and no one ever caught the virus outside ever, never ever ever, right????

Odisia · 23/06/2021 08:18

I'm currently quarantining after visiting a very sick relative abroad (in a country with lower rates of Covid than us). Tested multiple times.

I may not technically be under house arrest but it certainly feels like I am. I'm not even allowed to go for a walk.

If they announce that the UEFA officials don't have to quarantine then I won't be quarantining any longer. I've obeyed everything since March last year but enough is enough.

It'll be interesting to see if 19th July is correct.

unwuthering · 23/06/2021 08:19

@BlessedBeTheFruitCake

Nope, because there’s now the “delta plus” variant Hmm
It's only in India, currently, and only in three particular states in India.

Not sure why the eyeroll/sideye. It's real, it sounds nasty. Poor India.

Baileysforchristmas · 23/06/2021 08:24

Another variant that can be brought in from another country but yet we’re letting people come here who won’t have to self isolate which will then cause another rise which will then cause children to self isolate, one vicious circle, we have to stop this.

I will still wear masks and social distance from the 19th no matter what the government says. That's my choice, I don't expect others to do it but it's been nice not having so many colds etc..... so I will continue long term.

I don't have many restrictions on my life currently, holiday plans have been cancelled as we were over the rule of 6 for the beginning of July, we don't go to nightclubs so we can do most other stuff that we want.

Sparklingbrook · 23/06/2021 08:27

I want to ditch my mask as soon as it’s possible (have to wear all day for work-didn’t previously) but the social distancing thing I’m going to continue as I’ve always been protective of my personal space and not wanting peoples germs.

StColumbofNavron · 23/06/2021 08:28

We’ve had an outbreak in our office. So I don’t think so.

justwanttodanceagain · 23/06/2021 08:29

I thought it was pretty clear from the football what the new rules will be.

Testing and masks will be scrapped and be replaced by donations to the Tory party. As long as the right palms are greased, all prior rules will take a backseat.

Arrowheart · 23/06/2021 08:31

Well that's it then. An outbreak in your office so the restrictions are on hold.
yeOldeTrout · 23/06/2021 08:33

My crystal ball says...

yes and no but maybe parts of the relaxation will be temporary

Still lots of restrictions on travel abroad, having to isolate if symptomatic too

Probably don't have to isolate if double jabbed and merely exposed

I have a feeling kids won't have to isolate at home even if exposed in autumn, first part of the transition to treating covid like common cold

BonnieDundee · 23/06/2021 08:33

Oh well if that’s whatWikipediasays it must be correct. Absolutely

I shall bear in mind that we are no longer allowed to reference Wikipedia from now on and police everyone who does Grin

Can't help but thinking if only the school children had started donating their pocket money to the Tories then thet could have adhered to the same rules as the people who make money out of football...
Odisia · 23/06/2021 08:35

It's very interesting that when Prince Philip died the Queen sat alone at his funeral, as so many have had to in recent months. All along she has complied with the same restrictions as her people and recognises why she should do so.

Not so the politicians. I'd like to know more about the 'pilot scheme' Michael Gove was on which meant he didn't have to quarantine. It certainly wasn't offered to me. It's one rule for us, another for politicians, celebrities and the wealthy. Disgraceful.

I'll carry on wearing a mask on public transport, but only because I think it's sensible to do so, not because I'm told to.

Isn’t Wikipedia the place anyone can go in and edit? Confused Hardly a place for facts. No policing required. 🤔
shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 08:36

No
We’ve been done up like a kipper.
Well played.
Government played a blinder.

Don’t blame you
shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 08:40

@Baileysforchristmas

Well if annoyance works hopefully they’ll stop isolating school children, maybe we should organise a demonstration to stop children being put under house arrest.
Join the one on Saturday in london
StColumbofNavron · 23/06/2021 08:44

@Arrowheart of course you are right, it doesn’t automatically equal anything. However, I had heard of no new cases since the end of last year (personally over a number of institutions that I am in close, regular contact with). If we have an outbreak then it is feasible to surmise that other places/groups/institutions might too. We now have a circuit breaker in place and the multiple teams now wfh 100% again. Those teams now at home will have come into contact with other people, those who are sick may have had family members who went to their own place of work, visited family etc. We will not be the only office. I offered it by way of anecdotal example only.

DinosaurDiana · 23/06/2021 08:45

No. We’ve another winter to get through yet.

Baileysforchristmas · 23/06/2021 08:47

@shewalkslikerihanna I think I will thanks

Why are they waiting so long? It’s still weeks away and we’re well below the levels that we’re predicted weeks ago.

Baileysforchristmas · 23/06/2021 08:48

And if all restrictions lifted in England but Scotland still have to adhere to rules, how will the Scots feel? I would be bloody livid.

OP posts:
Dongdingdong · 23/06/2021 08:50

and the guidance to work from home are on track to be lifted on 19 July.

Excellent news!
