the mRNA in the Pfizer vaccine integrating with our DNA is by far the stupidest one of these so called conspiracy theories, as anyone who has done Biology A Level will know. I think it scientifically uneducated people misunderstanding snippets that they've read eh some viral genomes do integrate into cellular DNA like Herpes etc (why you get flare up of cold sores). I'm not aware that anyone has shown the covid virus doing this and it's an RNA virus I believe so how would it integrate into our DNA? But mRNA? Nope..mRNA is naturally transcribed FROM DNA and can't go back the other way.

Legoninjago1 · 22/06/2021 09:11

Let's just see shall we. It makes sense to me that we wait til everyone over 40 is double jabbed given delta. I have had 2 x Pfizer and if I'm locked down ever again I'll be fucking fuming.

gobackanddoitproperly · 22/06/2021 09:11

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 22/06/2021 09:14

@BungleandGeorge

I think forced vaccinations are a real concern and I think it breaches a very important principle of choice and autonomy which is enshrined in law. And no there are no vaccinations which are legally required at the moment whatever some people may think, they can not be legally required. They are talking about flu aswell as covid vacc, they both have real potential side effects and often are primarily to protect others rather than the person themselves. I’ve had all my vaccines but personally I’m very uncomfortable with this, it’s a huge shift and I hope there will be opposition. It’s not a conspiracy theory though as it’s actually happening!
Imo suggesting a policy of forced vaccinations isn't a conspiracy theory but thinking that the reason for forced vaccination is to allow a govt to implant some kind of foreign body inside all the citizens would be

Forced vaccination is a matter of public health policy.

Yup, great post. I genuinely think my 16 year old could explain why it's not possible. The central dogma of Biology and all.
ddl1 · 22/06/2021 09:16

But what about flu?
It disappeared.

It hasn't disappeared. But, as flu is spread in similar ways to Covid, but is less contagious, the lockdown and social distancing measures to prevent Covid were even more successful in reducing flu (though obviously this wasn't their purpose).

I agree. No-one should force you to have the vaccine. But they absolutely should withdraw your right to certain privileges if you refuse to have it. Like the ability to be accepted for certain jobs. If you are already in one of those jobs then you should lost it. And access to foreign travel without testing and quarantining, long after everyone else has ceased to need to do so.

And you don’t think removing someone’s job which they depend on is by force? Would you say the Chinese people were forced to stick to the one child policy because life was made so unbearably unpleasant and they were forced into abject poverty if they didn’t? Is that free will?

The conspiracy theorists I know believe we have all been implanted with a microchip via the vaccine which will render the next generation sterile, that this has been done because the Illuminati are the Devil's servants now running the world the end of which is nigh. They have bought a smallholding in Wales to fend it off. Impressive retaliation against The Devil and all his forces.
I assume they'll go off grid for safety, so you'll lose touch with how they're getting on? Great shame for those they've been regaling with their pearls of wisdom, but their safety is the top priority...
besensiblepeople · 22/06/2021 09:20

OP the leading scientists got hold of the virus dna in Jan last year and several different and distinct and independent organisations all concluded that the virus over 95pc bat and therefore not manmade. They also said that the most likely jump based on their experience was via pangolin and that they had been warning for years that the illegal wild meat trade needed to be clamped down, and that this would happen again and again until wild meat trade stopped. I doubt very much that their theories are going to be disproved as a result of this latest call for investigation, but NB beyond the dna analysis and comment on the wild meat trade, no one has asserted for sure where the actual jump from animal to man happened. Bat viruses are well known to have horrendous affects on man. The conspiracy theorists basically said it was manmade and it was that which the scientists were saying pretty much no to, and this is still the case now. However, would power groups take advantage of the situation and make things worse? Quite possibly. Scientists haven't commented on that. They have said that vaccine is the way out of the pandemic consistently, and have advised govmts about doing vaccination properly, and some of their advice has been ignored. The support for the whole lockdown thing is driven by the fact that the virus was real and highly transmissable, wherever the virus came from.

What is happening between the US and China and is this new investigation a part of that? Well, quite a lot of issues are being chucked onto the table by the US at the moment, including the Urghyrs. Unfortunately the US's own track record re human rights is not great so I personally find it hard to know who to believe and to what extent.

babbaloushka · 22/06/2021 09:21

@BungleandGeorge Freedom of choice has never meant freedom from consequences. If you make that decision, you must do so understanding the consequences it may have, including restricted access to certain jobs or potentially public areas, as a matter of civilian health.

People are more than welcome to decline the vaccine, just as businesses are more than welcome to decide who they permit on their premises, or the NHS are to decide who is safe to work with vulnerable patients. It's not like everyone who refuses the jab is going to be rounded up into camps to have it forcibly administered against their will.

WhatMattersMost · 22/06/2021 09:21

@pinktables

Okay. Hard hat donned.

If you want my conspiracy theory it's that a lot of these conspiracy theories are fabricated by people who know it's completely fabricated so that any talk remotely related to an issue is dismissed by rational / sensible people without a second thought.

So... for example: This was created in a lab as part of a nefarious plot by China to take over the world. Sounds absolutely bonkers. But the question of wether this might have accidentally escaped from the institute of virology is really not as bonkers. And when you get into the gain of function research previously banned in the US, you start to see potential motives for why they might not want people asking questions.

Another example for the sake of argument (since it's been mentioned on here: This is all Bill Gates attempt at world domination. Again, absolutely bonkers. Any mention of Bill Gates on a covid thread is quickly laughed away. But. There are some important questions to ask about the power and influence wielded by a single man. Bill Gates opening remarks at the global vaccine summit. Bill Gates on the anti-vaccine movement. What's inside coronavirus vaccine - Bill Gates interview. All top results on youtube and one could argue perfectly valid for a philanthropist billionaire to comment on. The man obviously wields power and influence. But when he's making it clear that the rich half of the world must not share patent information with the poorer part, that they must not be allowed any part of the manufacturing process... then it becomes slightly less bonkers to ask questions around just how much power and influence this man has.

So there you have it folks, my conspiracy theory to end all conspiracy theories. I'll put my hard hat over my tin hat Grin

I agree with this.

@sunnnysideup

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great replies.

Covid passports, vaccines for children, lockdowns not ending, virus from wuhan lab, no freedoms even when you do take the vaccine, deaths from healthy people having the Covid vaccine, vaccines altering DNA (Mrna does enter dna) lockdown again this winter.... I could go on actually. It’s funny until you really look at it.

At least get Science right, mRNA does not affect DNA in any way, it cannot combine to affect the genetic code. IT is inside a cell for about 72 hours before being degraded. It cannot change DNA, I'm guessing you have never studied science or even researched properly.

Because we're in a pandemic, it was never going to just go away.

Vaccines and lockdowns the only way to keep a lid on it.

If Boris hadn't fucked up over the border we'd be open this week.

Impressive indeed. I assume they think that starting vaccinations with those older than childbearing age was just to throw us off the scent!!
noideawhatusernametochoose · 22/06/2021 09:27

Dunno.

I'm so old I'm running Windows 3.1 though.... will the booster vac upgrade me?

Sonarl · 22/06/2021 09:29

I can't be a fighter pilot because I don't have perfect eyesight.

I can't be an athlete because I don't have the right body.

I can't even be cabin crew because I'm too short.

if you can't have a vaccine to protect the vulnerable people you care for then boo hoo you can't do that job, do one of the millions of others.

User135644 · 22/06/2021 09:30

@supermoonrising

No idea what’s going on anymore. Politicians do seem to be dropping huge hints that this is far from over in terms of masks, lockdowns, etc etc, despite 90% of adults being fully vaccinated by the end of summer ... which does seem to call into question the point of the vaccines....and how long exactly this will continue and whether the threat of the virus is equal to keep rearranging society for another X years.
The problem is we allowed a variant in to run amok which can escape the vaccines to some degree.

People say 'well what was the point of the vaccines'. Without them we'd be in full lockdown again with hundreds of deaths a day and the hospitals full.

I don't understand - I had to stop using windows 7 and finally accept 10 because 7 was incompatible with everything else, printers, downloading, cameras everything. How do you manage with 3.1? I am secretly impressed... you are like an outpost fighting on valiently upon principle against being controlled by the Windows machine...

I think you misunderstand what freedom of choice is. This is not about anything to do with employers, this is about the law. The principle of informed consent is vital. Amongst all the crazy conspiracies people are losing very important human rights and many just don’t seem to notice or care.

I was being facetious. But thank you for explaining for the hard of thinking who do actually believe that the reduction in flu deaths is all part of the big conspiracy.

what do you call it Vegas?
I call it utterly ridiculous when 60,000 are crammed in to a stadium watching football, when thousands were in London at the weekend and when thousands of Welsh supporters travelled to 2 amber countries in a week. Meanwhile you are off to you pre booked, socially distanced fitness class where once you’ve reached your zone you can take your mask off. Same as the utterly pointless stupidity of wearing your mask to walk to your table in a restaurant.

Gates has now changed his view, or at least the Gates Foundation has, which I guess is the same thing.

"Mark Suzman, CEO at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, announced Thursday that the foundation is supportive of temporarily lifting coronavirus vaccine patent protections.

“No barriers should stand in the way of equitable access to vaccines, including intellectual property, which is why we are supportive of a narrow waiver during the pandemic,” he wrote in a statement, which was an about-face for the world’s largest private foundation."

I agree. It's really bad. Every now and again my vision goes completely blue and a message saying 'Windows 10 needs to reboot' pops up. I never used to get that.
