I am vaxxed and tested yet the rules still apply to me. As they do to every vaxxed and tested person in the country. But we don't get special dispensation.....

Quite. Why not do the summit online like everyone else has had to? The whole thing about discussing climate change, in the middle of a pandemic, where 1 person alone had a motorcade of over 30 vehicles and flew a large amount of cars over here.
If it had to be in person, then it could have been postponed like everything else has been.

@pattypan have you considered that the G7 conference could have taken place online? THEIR lives and plans can always be accommodated. OUR lives and plans just don't matter @Workyticket you have my sympathy.

I bet there's more than 30 members of the press alone that you can't see. They are supposed to be setting an example and if it doesn't matter because they are outside why all the theatrics with the group photo are the social distancing?

Im sorry to say I had the vaccine, 1st shot. Not because I needed it (or wanted it) but because I wanted to get back to normal and didn’t want my kids to have to have it. Turns out we are a long way from normal and kids being lined up! So I’m not having my second jab!!!

I'm done. Its one broken promise and betrayal too many.
Summer just got reduced to 4 weeks.
As of today ive decided im mask exempt and any rules i can get away without following will be ignored.
Also, very unlikely to go for a 2nd dose next week - theres no point doing so..

Socially distanced, so presumably no dancing? No first dance - or a totally solo one for the couple? No photos huddled together outside one's "bubble"? Presumably there is enough venue space to double the space between tables? Enough church capacity to double space between guests?

He hasn't thought this one through he has, he's relying on venues and vicars to deliver the bad news.

Or are G7 rules in play?

@Faffinator I agree from a climate perspective that it would have been better online but it’s pretty obvious that what world leaders do is more important than what you or I do isn’t it? Their decisions affect millions of people. A wedding only affects two people. And the rules that are given to the public have to be stricter to account for the impact of the people who won’t follow them properly/at all and aren’t getting regularly tested so could be spreading it unawares. I’m not a fan of the government but I think it makes sense for them to do as they have.

What a bunch of childish fools. Do they not realise by not complying they’re simply perpetuating this. If everyone thought and behaved that way then come July 19th it’ll be full lockdown not reopening.

@PattyPan I disagree actually. The physical G7 get-together was pure posturing and photo opportunities. Any real decision and discussion could have happened remotely and would have been a far better example to set. Do as I say not as I do doesn't tend to be a very successful technique.

That is exactly how Trump got elected - the assumption that the opinions of valid voters somehow magically cannot change the course of our democracy.

We should be very, very worried about those people and how disgruntled and distrusting they are becoming towards mainstream political and media institutions.

@Faffinator I disagree - it’s really difficult to have negotiations when you can’t meet face to face, it’s just the nature of the business. Preliminary discussions could probably be online but actually agreeing difficult things needs to be done in person.

Threw my mask away ages ago and am declining my second vaccine. Seeing who I please where I please.

I’m very interested to see how the behaviour scientists will deal with an increasingly defiant public.

Please do get your second jab. It's increasing your personal protection and helping everyone else at the same time.
