Not sure how Boris can stand up tonight and ask us to wait 'just another few weeks' after his antics this weekend.

Nor after seeing the scenes at countless pubs where people were celebrating the footy results

I'm 100% done now

That's just daft.

StealthPolarBear · 14/06/2021 18:39

But I agree. The next stage will be interesting. I suppose one thing they do have in their favour is the excellent weather.

@Mathshelpme

Threw my mask away ages ago and am declining my second vaccine. Seeing who I please where I please.

I’m very interested to see how the behaviour scientists will deal with an increasingly defiant public.

I don't think I'll get my second either

No mention from their own paper about the % of hospital acquired infection.

In these things, the reaction to defiance is often polarised - either concession to the defiant and "freedom" from whatever was being protested ... or an abrupt switch to harsh crack downs and repression. This has been seen repeatedly in history.

Why? I didn't want the first one.

I foolishly let myself get railroaded - my bad, I take full responsibility.

Likewise @Ostara212

I only had it to go abroad this summer 😂 No need for the second now.

One of the things that ‘encourages’ behaviour change, is social acceptance.

Many people such as myself, simply don’t care anymore about how others view us. I don’t mind being called selfish. I don’t mind being called stupid. I’m quite happy to counter disapproving stares with a big smile. And I don’t mind being compared to a 12 year old.

My best friend will have 2 for same reason She's booked holiday in August and trying to bring her second ine forward, though tbh I think she won't be allowed on holiday in the end.

I don't go anywhere, I was just an idiot.

They'll be selling a 3rd vaccine for over 18s soon.

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 14/06/2021 18:50
@MrsHastingslikethebattle it’s not just elderly people dying of it. In the latest week of ONS data (week ending 28th may) the majority of deaths (68.4%) involving covid were from under 65s.
With Covid on their death certificate you mean!

People are dying of cancer, heart attacks and becaus they're tested positive within 28 days of their death, Covid goes down on their death certificate.

People are dying all day every day from preventable diseases. Let's take alcohol and fatty foods off the shelves too ey? 2 biggest killers going. Did we lock everyone up every winter?

The devastating effects of lockdown and restrictions are far more wide than a small number of people who are dying from it. The daily death rate has been in single figures!!

It's a joke

Ostara212 · 14/06/2021 18:50

You can call me an idiot for taking the thing, I was, I admit it.

Mathshelpme · 14/06/2021 18:50

Yep. Boosters next. Then winter.
2021 sucks more than 2020.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/06/2021 18:53

Spot on, MercyBooth (like your username, too, that was a wild book!)

Barbadosgirl · 14/06/2021 18:53

@TheDevils

Covid deniers heads are going to spin off when they realise we’ll be in lockdown before end of the year because of Delta variant. 📈

You sound positively excited at the prospect....

Quite! Why lockdown again? What is the point of all this if the vaccines are not enough to prevent more lockdowns? So we just keep locking down forever?
osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/06/2021 18:55

@Marguerite2000

Ffs, no one gives a fuck about twitter in real life.
Really? Some people have lost their jobs, been charged with hate crimes and pulled up in court over Twitter.
Cornettoninja · 14/06/2021 18:59

That is exactly how Trump got elected - the assumption that the opinions of valid voters somehow magically cannot change the course of our democracy

We should be very, very worried about those people and how disgruntled and distrusting they are becoming towards mainstream political and media institutions

I’m torn on this. I have stated on here before my concerns around the weaponisation of social media and the internet. It absolutely exists and keeps lots of international groups very busy. But it’s hard to pick out organised campaigns from the hashtags that are the equivalent of likes on Facebook and utterly meaningless.

If I were to suspect an organised, semi-sophisticated movement I would be very suspicious of who gains the most by people rejecting covid restrictions because it’s not the general public despite how much it may appear appealing. There’s a fairly sinister undertone of ‘nothing to see here, get back to normal no matter the consequence’. To trot out an Orwell reference it reminds me very much of poor old Boxer.

If you think covid passport issues are a time limited thing to this summer you really are daft. This is likely to be a prerequist for some years now.

Maybe you will opt out of your second doses now, but there is a possibility that if you haven't kept up to date with your covid vaccination you may be refused entry to other countries because you are seen as higher risk.

As it stands we don't know how this will play out but we are likely to see an ongoing vaccination programme.

Red "Maybe you will opt out of your second doses now, but there is a possibility that if you haven't kept up to date with your covid vaccination you may be refused entry to other countries because you are seen as higher risk."

I don't travel. I'd be scared to at the moment though, because of all the crazy.

if it comes to the point of no vaccine, no work, I will have to take it. But I will resist that happening.

MercyBooth · 14/06/2021 19:08

I really dont think that saying "you wont be able to enter other countries/go on holiday (to communities that cant afford this sort of thing anyway due to austerity/wage freezes/benefit cuts, is going to do much)

PattyPan · 14/06/2021 19:09

@Ostara212 aside from the fact the vaccine benefits you by reducing your risk of serious illness, the vaccine rollout is one of the four tests that has to be met to end restrictions. Anyone who is desperate for restrictions to end should be encouraging everyone they know to get vaccinated asap!

@Mathshelpme You will probably find that you need to be fully vaccinated (ie both doses) to benefit from a vaccine passport. That is definitely the case for Jersey, Greece, Spain, France etc. So having just one dose is pointless.

MercyBooth · 14/06/2021 19:09

I can hear the protesters on Channel 4 news. Cathy Newman is reporting from outside No 10

Well, I only get to go abroad during the summer now due to my job, so I have until next year to decide.

BonnieDundee · 14/06/2021 19:14

Interestingly @MercyBooth I haven't seen it reported anywhere on MSM. Who could have predicted that? Hmm

MRex · 14/06/2021 19:15

Some in this thread would be really confused to know there's already a queue for the 23-24 year olds booking their vaccine doses, and it doesn't officially open until tomorrow. My DN waited patiently and is delighted to be booked in. A wall of vaccine immunity is what this virus needs.
