@Remmy123

Young people have lost thier lives from the vaccine I am not confident in giving my children anything, yet.
My DS is 7 and not a cat in hell's chance will I have him vaccinated should it become available to his age group. Couldn't give a crap about "society" when it comes to my child, I will choose what's best for him over every other person on this earth. And I don't think it is best for him to have a Covid vaccine.

Thanks for the reply. Got it. You are following the science proactively pragmatically BUT disappointed that others aren’t as careful or civic duty of care minded eg the visibly anti masks of young adults who all can’t selfishly self declare exemption disability when it suits.

The essence of this pandemic is people have not risk mitigated enough and so it is perpetual and will continue to cause medical and economic disaster until people are get a grip and fight it robustly by totally changing their normal behaviours until it is contained and manageable through vaccination and selected hibernation. Thanks Red Currant Puff stay safe and stay clear of Covidiots.
I’m not disappointed that others aren’t wearing masks, more feeling a bit of a mug that I am despite being 4 weeks post second vaccine dose and presumably at very low risk of spreading anything!

Remmy123 · 04/06/2021 12:10

@RedcurrantPuff source? Do you not read the news? 40 year old women have died.

RedcurrantPuff · 04/06/2021 12:10

Re the vaccine for kids - given that it’s been approved I’m happier that it’s better for the well-being of my kids to have it than another year of bloody endless school closures

You cannot compare a rushed vaccine with no historic data to rubella vaccines etc.

RedcurrantPuff · 04/06/2021 12:20

But arguably rubella doesn’t present a risk to boys. When I was at school before MMR only girls had rubella vaccines. Same as boys now get the HPV vaccine. If they don’t get the illness because of vaccination they are less likely to pass it on to a non immune female who could. They have it to protect others.

But how is that relevant to 12 - 15 year olds being offered a different vaccine?
@HackAttack not something he can do over zoom, no. Crew on sporting events. I daresay many would consider that non-essential but quite frankly they can pay our mortgage then if they've got a problem with it.
So from that you think your DH should be free to travel for work for something utterly non essential while kids here lockdown, miss education, miss socialisation?? Well done for cementing my fuck future lock downs opinion!!

TheKeatingFive · 04/06/2021 12:40

So from that you think your DH should be free to travel for work for something utterly non essential

Presumably this is essential for his business, which employs people, pays tax which contributes to the exchequer, funds public services, delivers to clients.

People have a remarkably limited understanding of how the world functions.

MaxNormal · 04/06/2021 12:41

So from that you think your DH should be free to travel for work for something utterly non essential

I find having an income quite essential actually.
Apparently that makes me incredibly selfish.
Fortunately as it stands, he is free to travel for work, regardless of your opinion, although there are a lot more hoops than usual in the form of tests, tour bubbles etc.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 04/06/2021 12:43

@SallyBasingstoke,

Rubella is an incredibly mild disease for children, far milder than COVID.

No need to vaccinate children from it all for their own sakes.

MaxNormal · 04/06/2021 12:43

Thanks TheKeatingFive
It really cracks me up - getting berated for daring to try and actually stay afload (we did lose over six months worth of income initially), but those same oh-so-selfless people don't seem to be all that forthcoming with offers of financial assistance. Weird, that.

Atalune · 04/06/2021 12:43

Pass the hair shirt.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 04/06/2021 12:46

@OffBad,

So when your argument that vaccinating children to protect others sits uncomfortably with vaccinating your child against Rubella, you pivot and use a completely different argument.

The reality is you think it is fine to vaccinate children to protect others (HPV and Rubella), just not ‘grannies’ whom I suspect you would rather die quietly, so you can get on with ‘living’.

TheKeatingFive · 04/06/2021 12:46

but those same oh-so-selfless people don't seem to be all that forthcoming with offers of financial assistance. Weird, that.

I know, right?

All that ‘non-essential’ stuff like feeding your family and paying the mortgage. 🤔

Remmy123 · 04/06/2021 12:50

@RedcurrantPuff because we are being told it is safe to take .. it's been approved etc etc no one said 'some 40 year olds may die from
Having the vaccine'

Same for the kids. Some may die having it!

HackAttack · 04/06/2021 12:52

You didn't actually answer if that should be put above everyone else's rights. Does your husband (or you) have no transferable skills to use in the uk?

As a safeguarding worker who has had to work and home school throughout, including one disabled child your damn right I won't be financially contributing to anyone else after risking my life and sanity throughout so some bloody sports contest can go ahead.

RedcurrantPuff · 04/06/2021 12:54

But some may die of Covid

TheKeatingFive · 04/06/2021 12:57

So max’s DH is supposed to quit a job he’s perfectly allowed to do under the guidelines and use ‘transferable skills’ to get another one?

You do realise they’d just hire someone else, don’t you? So they’d be plunging their family into poverty for no reason. Batshit.

I also think public sector workers need to be a LOT lure cognisant of the role the private sector has in enabling their services and funding what they do.

Remmy123 · 04/06/2021 13:00

@RedcurrantPuff not kids!! And the two women who were in their early 40's wouidnt have died of CovID either!! But died of the vaccine!

HackAttack · 04/06/2021 13:04

Maybe non public sector employees don't know that sibling group with different foster carers couldn't see each other for months. They couldn't always bubble due to other children living with them.

Should I tell them to watch some damn sports as a compensation if they ate separated again?

TheKeatingFive · 04/06/2021 13:06

Should I tell them to watch some damn sports as a compensation if they ate separated again?

You’re angry and off on one.

None of your issues are solved by someone being prevented from doing their perfectly legal job.

Take it up with the government.
