Is anyone not having the vaccine and what are your reasons? Im in my 30s I'm not having the vaccine because I'm worried about the long term effects that might not come to light for a few years. Why are you not having it?
If you think the vaccine is amazing and anyone not having it is selfish you probably don't need to comment.

@Lourdes12

It's funny how they need to pay celebrities to promote the vaccine and harass you with 30 texts and letters
have you tried actually replying to decline the vaccine?
MumsTheWord92 · 27/07/2021 23:36

Hi, I'm also not having the vaccine. Like you I don't fancy putting myself at risk from unknown effects of a new vaccine. Also, quite frankly I'm not worried about getting the virus, chances are I've already had it as we've had several bouts of temperatures, coughs etc go through our house and we're all fine. I'm also not going to be bullied into doing something I'm not comfortable with. People die everyday, it's life and if numbers need to be fiddled then as far as I'm concerned all that shows is that it's nothing to be worried about. Why teach children about 'my body my choice' if you aren't going to protect that right for them?

Well done you, good job the rest of us are happy to protect you. You can rest easy.

You had vaccine for yourself not to protect someone else, enough this bragging propaganda

No like many I think i'd be OK if I caught, my older brother and his wife had it and were fine. I had the vaccine as yes it offers me protection but also others around me, such as the folks in the care home where my mum lives. If you dont want it then whatever, but accept the many millions of us who have are doing it because we know it's the right thing to do. And be thankful for that.

Please stop calling all the people who haven’t had the vaccine yet as Covid deniers or flat earth era or whatever other tags…

There are a lot like me who are not any of the above but very scared of the effects of this vaccine-

You are not alone, there are tons of bullies on MN telling you what to do and who you should be greatful to.

You can't, its automatic

Tightsonatrain · 29/07/2021 09:32

@Lourdes12

You can't, its automatic
my mum needed to decline the vaccine as recommended by her consultant, just took one call to 119 to get her off the list and stop any automatic letters/texts Hmm

I find it fascinating that on threads like this the OP invariably says don’t reply if you don’t agree with me. It smacks of being unsure of their decision and just wanting as many people as possible to validate it to make them feel less out on a limb. If you are genuinely comfortable with what you’ve decided, then you wouldn’t be posting threads like this.

PhasedRay · 29/07/2021 10:36

I've refused the vaccine because I don't know if it's safe long term. Whatever they say about proper safety checks being done, it's a new virus and a new vaccine and we simply don't have the long term data available. I've also had coronavirus and recovered, so I should have natural immunity and that's generally seen as more effective that vaccine immunity, so don't really see the point of getting it.

I don't think anyones decision to get/not get vaccinated makes them selfish. The vaccine protects you, it's your body, so your choice if you want it or not. If people don't feel safe around unvaccinated people, then they can get the jab themselves and will be protected so it shouldn't matter what others do.

Parker231 · 03/08/2021 17:16

@PhasedRay - the vaccine protects you and those you come into contact with. Not everyone can medically have the vaccine (my friend has cancer and her consultant has said she shouldn’t have the vaccinations). She is high risk if she caught Covid although has remained relatively healthy the last seven years since diagnosis. She needs everyone else to have the vaccinations to protect her. She particularly needs all health care workers to be vaccinated so that she is not at further risk whilst having treatment.

They wanted to know who else is not getting the vaccine and why. I don't see anything wrong with trying to connect with other people who are feeling the same way as the OP is. It is actually very lonely feeling that way when most other people are calling you selfish etc for making a different decision to them.

I hope you don’t mind but I have a few questions as I think you have a fairly common and understandable mindset. If you don’t want to answer that’s fine of course!

Would you have the vaccine if you hadn’t already had covid? Are you concerned about the long term effects of covid at all? I understand why people are worried about the long term effects of the vaccine but I always wonder why they don’t seem concerned about the long term effects of covid when we don’t have that data either.

berrylands · 03/08/2021 20:53

it's amazing how many people have "done their own research" about the safety of the vaccine and don't care about all the research that show that the vaccine is actually very safe. Scientists should just ask these amazing thinkers instead of spending so much effort, time and resources testing the safety of vaccines.

Backofbeyond50 · 04/08/2021 08:29

These threads are always the same with the OP dictating who can and can't post.
Well I do not care whether you have a vaccine or not. Your body and your choice.
However if you are happy with your decision why are you seeking validation from others?

Blissbiz · 04/08/2021 09:25

I imagine the op has heard all the pro vaccine arguments and was looking for some support from people who are also declining the vaccine

PandemicAtTheDisco · 05/08/2021 16:28

I have 3 anti-vaxxer friends.

One wasn't having it for religious reasons. She also doesn't agree to blood donations or antibiotics but has taken antibiotics previously. She has caught covid so now has natural immunity anyway. She has been polite about her own views.

One believed the vaccines are dangerous, she is very into conspiracy theories and is currently MIA. We think she's been sectioned again. She's been aggressive and trying to get everyone to not be sheeple.

The third friend has changed her mind and has now has first vaccination. I think she believed she was healthy enough and didn't need it.
