I'm due my second next week. Thinking of putting it back until we get more info

Dementedswan · 06/05/2021 16:28

I'll be 9 weeks post 1st vaccine next week when my 2nd is booked in. I could push it back but I doubt the advice will change as I'm in my 40's and group 6. Logically I know my risk of covid is higher than the jab. Doesn't stop me worrying though.

TruelyWonder · 06/05/2021 16:31

@Dementedswan

I'm on meds for anxiety and depression anyway, tend to stay away from the doom and gloom boards so thought I'd ask for a kick up the arse here. Especially after it's happened to someone we know and their prognosis is bad.

The news about the clots just came out the day after my first vaccination.

The timing of the news is understandably enough to due your head in for sure.

Definitely stay away from the coronvirus boards. No good will come of it if you have anxiety anyway.

Though to be far lately most people are a lot more positive and hardly any scaremongering news stories about which really helps. Just never mention vaccine passports 🤦‍♀️

TruelyWonder · 06/05/2021 16:32

do not due

Dementedswan · 06/05/2021 16:48

Does the mere mention of vaccine passports create a bunfight? I've no intention of going abroad, saving that for when the dc are old enough to be more independent and strong swimmers so I can relax by the pool with a cocktail Grin

Anyway, for me personally I think its pointless waiting in hope to be offered a different vaccine, far better to get it out the way.

Good news is in the North East they are ploughing through first and second doses. Over 40s are being invited to book online through gp hub and those waiting for second jabs are being called up at 9/10 weeks for az and Pfizer at 11 weeks. Very well organised and efficient and what a lovely atmosphere!

The vaccine passport bun fights are incredible!
Dementedswan · 06/05/2021 16:53

I must have missed all those !

TruelyWonder · 06/05/2021 16:54

Yes vaccine passports are like the new Brexit 😯😂

whataballbag · 06/05/2021 16:55

What day is your second vacc? Mines meant to be Tuesday. Tempted just to get it out of the bloody way sooner

Beautiful BLOO vaccine passport
Dementedswan · 06/05/2021 16:56

@whataballbag mines on Wednesday, was surprised to get a text from the gp this morning.

TheChineseChicken · 06/05/2021 16:57

I was thinking I might wait for more news on the AZ jab before booking but I'm 40 so wouldn't have benefitted even if those in their 30s were recommended to have something else. So I decided it was a choice between having AZ or having nothing (for now, no idea when that might change). When I toyed with the idea of staying unvaccinated it didn't feel like the right thing to do. Let's hope I made the right decision!

I haven't seen the vaccine passports threads but I'm imagining I would not be welcome as an overseas holiday wannabe ..!

GrinGrinGrin I can imagine!
thatgingergirl · 06/05/2021 17:51

DH had his second AZ this morning, and mine is on Sunday. I'm planning a day in London (I'm at the very end of a tube line) as soon as my 2 weeks are up. So looking forward to that!

If, since the AZ clot situation came to light, in place of all the MSM and social media mentions of the risks were replaced by the risks of driving would we ever get into a car again?

ZoBo123 · 06/05/2021 18:46

But there is surely some benefit to the car journey or even a purpose to it. Would be good if the risks of Covid to the under 40s were also talked about as separate to the rest of the population. Don't think many people would have followed all the rules if they knew the true risk to themselves as an individual.
TruelyWonder · 06/05/2021 18:48

Or replaced with playing football apparently

Confused
tobee · 06/05/2021 18:53

I agree @ZoBo123.

It's difficult to get Covid into perspective. For the long term

TruelyWonder · 06/05/2021 18:57

Today they are reporting that 7 million people around the world have dead of covid. The deaths have been greatly underestimated.

We have had at least 150k deaths in the UK

A percentage of these deaths are young health people

Yet people still think the vaccine more risky than covid😶

What are we on know over 1600 people under 40 that have dead in this country from covid. Many with no underlying conditions

Unless something dramatic has changed whilst writing this post and at least 1500 people have dead have AZ or another vaccine 🤨

Not to mention you are protecting your elderly relative, neighbour, CEV adults or children you know.

Dementedswan · 06/05/2021 19:20

Exactly, with all my family falling into group 6 and above I'm going to out my big girl pants on and go ahead with my second jab... keep everything crossed and probably stress and have panic attacks etc for a few weeks afterwards. But delaying it will only increase the anxiety.

PomLikeTheBattle · 06/05/2021 19:29

@Dementedswan sorry to hear re your anxiety.
@EasterIssland I would join you but I decided some threads best avoided - I got into a couple of schools threads which were not healthy, at least that topic is quiet now.

I've been having panic attacks all day at the thought of the second dose. It's just shit isn't it. All that fucking hope and now this.
