@whataballbag yep! I've suffered from anxiety for years, to the point I was housebound and had nurses coming to take me out as part of cbt. I got to coping levels through having dc and pushing through for them. And now this .

I'm stressing about the 2nd jab and simultaneously stressing I won't get offered a booster. Never ending, hence ending back on anxiety meds. Throw in depression too as a hard of hearing person I've had zero human interaction apart from medical apts because of masks and my need to lip read.

PomLikeTheBattle · 06/05/2021 20:23

@EasterIssland oh that’s such a great idea.

@Dementedswan I'm in exactly the same position. I'm 38 and due my second AZ on Monday. With the news tonight about changing for under 40 I'm really nervous but the clot incidence is lower in second dose so I'm just going to plough ahead and take the (small) risk. I'll be straight to a&e if I have any concerns after though.

EasterIssland · 06/05/2021 22:13

Germany will provide az to all ages

worriedatthemoment · 06/05/2021 22:47

I need to read this as there are some real negative posts in here tonight with a couple posters who have really brought me down in my mood tonight

OrangeBananaFish · 06/05/2021 22:48

I'm only not going abroad because I can't get the time off work. New job and someone already has a holiday booked for the same 2 weeks. Otherwise I'd still be hoping.

The only effect I've had since my vaccine yesterday is a sore arm, it feels like someone has punched me. Hard.

Stay away from the general Covid boards! Smile

TeaInTheGarden · 07/05/2021 00:01

Luckily I’m feeling a bit better today side effects wise.
But now feeling a bit silly for queue jumping and getting a spare dose on Monday. As I’m 37 if I’d waited it sounds like I may have been offered a different vaccine.
Oh well. It’s done now and I’m still incredibly grateful to be jabbed. And I’m reminding myself that loads of other under 40s have already had AZ. Still, doesn’t help the anxiety!

TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 00:08

@EasterIssland

I understand you, I’ve hidden some. Will send them a pic from my holiday destination
😂😂😂

How's this look:-

Good News - Thread 13. 40/30s and onwards to the roaring 20s.
TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 00:23

This explains why trials data doesn't compare to real world data. It is why all the vaccines are working even better than expected. Shows from now on only real world data matters Smile

TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 00:29

tobee but vaccines don't work 😉

Seriously please especially if you are in London. The India variant is starting to try and take hold here. Its transmission is faster than most variants. Please have your jabs as soon as possible. Cases with this one will multiply quickly if to much vaccine hesitancy. We are in such a good place at the moment don't ruin it.

TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 00:33

I forgot to add.

AZ has preliminary proof it works against the India variant. Which means the others should too. So that is very good news. So long as people keep getting jabbed.

tobee · 07/05/2021 00:34

Yes yes yes @TruelyWonder . Hoping people who are not at such risk are still happy to be jabbed! 🤞

TheChineseChicken · 07/05/2021 08:24

I need to stop reading the blood clot threads for my own sanity. Sorry that's not a good news post but I know we're all friends here and allowed a wobble! Looks like they will offer an alternative to under 40s. I'm (just) 40 and had my AZ a couple of days ago so wouldn't have been affected by this anyway but feels a bit close particularly since I am slim, fit, healthy and probably not at particularly elevated risk from covid. Argh. Just need to get a few weeks past the jab then I can relax.

Is the thinking that it's not really thought to be a risk after the second dose? I know there were some cases reported but it sounds like experts can't see why that would happen.

I'm exactly the same chicken. I'm 11 weeks past first dose and fine but the anxiety re the second is getting to me.

From what I've read at the minute, the risks seem to be lower for the second vaccine.

I know and understand completely that when you suffer from anxiety and are prone to catastrophising (is that even a word?) as I am, sometimes the fear seems like too bloody much

TheChineseChicken · 07/05/2021 09:45

Silly thing is, if someone else said to me they were worried about getting clots I would think - of course that won’t happen, stop worrying

springhasalmostsprung · 07/05/2021 09:47

I've just read that under 40s are now going to be offered an alternative to AZ, I only have a screen shot someone sent me from BBC website (couldn't find it myself) and for some reason it won't let me upload photos

springhasalmostsprung · 07/05/2021 09:48

It says no new safety concerns just to clarify.

I imagine it's because we've got that extra batch of Pfizer?

Bordois · 07/05/2021 10:59

It would have been an interesting experiment to not let people know what brand they are actually getting to see what symptoms get reported (obviously there round be a code in the batch reference so those that need to know could use the information). Probably some ethics concerns with that, although I dont recall ever being told what brand of vaccine I'm getting previously

Welikebeingcosy · 07/05/2021 12:08

Checking in!

Welikebeingcosy · 07/05/2021 12:17

Just seen that over 30s are set to be called for the jab by mid way which is not far off at all! I'm 31 and relieved they are pulling AZ for under 40s as I was just short of being categorised as under 30. I'm sure it would be fine but that losing that sleepless night feeling the night before is making me happier. It feels like we have been waiting for ages!

Welikebeingcosy · 07/05/2021 12:18

Also just read that they are going to speed up first doses and slow done second doses now that all the elderly people have had their second doses so might get through the ages quicker for everyone getting a first dose.

BigWoollyJumpers · 07/05/2021 15:23

The "nocebo" effect is well documented. If you think something is going to do you harm, the mind "invents" the issues you are afraid of. It's really interesting, because the effects/symptoms are "real", but not because of what you have just been given, which may well be nothing more noxious than water.
