Over 18s were invited via our gp hub last week. Dc aged 23 had theirs on Saturday and dc 19 booked for Thursday. We live in an area with a relatively older demographic so probably a little ahead of others when going through the younger age groups.

@TruelyonelastSchlep

From BBC website:

The two Covid vaccines most in use in the UK are "highly effective" in preventing hospital admission with the Delta variant, new data from Public Health England suggests.

Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca jabs can cope with the variant first identified in India as the Alpha variant first identified in Kent, the research found.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was found to be 94% effective against hospital admission after just one dose, and 96% after two doses.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was found to be 71% effective against hospital admission after one dose, and 92% after two doses.

PHE says the protection against death is expected to be high, although further research is taking place.

This sounds great, does anyone have a link to the article?

Not sure if this will work - I've never posted a link before!

Works perfectly, thank you Smile

Cafeaulait27 · 15/06/2021 17:30

Well I’m pleasantly surprised by the cases and deaths today, cases don’t seem to be going up as quickly as I thought and only 10 deaths (obviously still really sad for those people and their families ❤️)

Hopefully this extra caution until July 19th will stand us in good stead?

I’d really like to get rid of my mask collection! (But probably keep them in a drawer for winter sadly)

Bordois · 15/06/2021 17:58

Another drop in the rate of increase again today - 38.8% now, down from 45.5% yesterday and 66% last Wednesday! Let's hope its an ongoing trend and not temporary!

TheChineseChicken · 15/06/2021 18:15

And isn’t Tuesday usually the jump day after the weekend?

TruelyonelastSchlep · 15/06/2021 18:47
