Thanks for the video Chinesechicken. It was good to hear the voice of reason for once

LivinLaVidaLoki · 05/06/2021 08:14

Thanks for that @TeaInTheGarden

Hax · 05/06/2021 12:07

25 to 29s to be called next week according to the news this morning!
DS is 25 and a teacher and desperate to get his.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/06/2021 12:51

So glad I watched that Tim Spector video, thanks for posting.

PomRuns · 05/06/2021 13:42

Agree - thanks so much for that video plus the graph.

TheChineseChicken · 05/06/2021 13:44

I think from now on if anyone starts to wobble we just need to wheel in Tim Spector

TheChineseChicken · 05/06/2021 13:47

Also I just read this

LivinLaVidaLoki · 05/06/2021 14:00

Just read this on Sky News
"BREAKING: Officials are "drawing up other options" for the easing of restrictions but still expect 21 June to go ahead, according to a government figure"

That's cheered me up a bit.

carolinesbaby · 05/06/2021 14:34

Oh that seems like good news to me!
Avoiding a certain other thread where people are predicting schools re-closing as an absolute certainty. Anyone else feel like there's some sock puppetry going on?

TheChineseChicken · 05/06/2021 14:42

Schools?! It’s not that bad Hmm

Bordois · 05/06/2021 15:22

Well?

PomRuns · 05/06/2021 15:22

I engaged briefly with one thread, but anyone who doesn’t agree is generally hounded out. The predictions for a disastrous school return in March didn’t happen - I can’t imagine it would be now we are so much further along with vaccinations.

carolinesbaby · 05/06/2021 17:15

I'm sticking in this happy place! Spent a sunny Saturday gardening, crocheting and baking - middle age is definitely calling me!

PomRuns · 05/06/2021 17:24

40 million adults now had 1st dose - 76.2% of the adult population.

Sounds perfect @Reachersloveinterest
Gardening and swimming and a very hot run here - just in case we can go on holiday, I don’t want to wear my end of holiday shorts at the beginning.

TheChineseChicken · 05/06/2021 17:39

We’ve had a lovely day! Time with friends, garden centre, pub garden. It takes a lot to make you feel down when the weather is like this

TeaInTheGarden · 05/06/2021 23:48

Thanks for that quote about hospitals @TheChineseChicken -just the kind of thing I need to hear!

WaitroseAldi · 06/06/2021 10:18

I’m so stressed today :( my daughters party is booked for the 26th at the soft play near us. I was going to give invites out tomorrow but do I not bother now? Do I just cancel? She will be heartbroken 😩

TeenMinusTests · 06/06/2021 10:24

Waitrose Send out the invitations. Include a 'subject to Covid rules' statement. Think about a fallback (eg get together in a park?) if possible.

TheChineseChicken · 06/06/2021 10:43

I would be tempted to look for an outdoor alternative so it’s all sorted now

TheChineseChicken · 06/06/2021 10:44

Hancock this morning saying that delta variant 40% more transmissible than alpha. That’s a lot better than the 70-100% I’ve heard bandied around and will make a big difference to projections

PomRuns · 06/06/2021 11:25

I was just about to post that. Hopefully that will pause some of the negative threads on here.
Although I do feel why are we stopping face masks in schools ? Plus ventilation, cleaning in work places should have been addressed consistently months ago. Although I’ve been very impressed with lots of places I’ve been recently.

WaverleyPirate · 06/06/2021 12:37

Stopping masks in schools and not improving ventilation was completely daft. Counterproductive.

WaverleyPirate · 06/06/2021 12:39

It isnt negative to talk about preventative measures to keep a lid on cases until everyone is vaccinated. It is positive to take those measures.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 13:49

Just seen loads of news headlines stating "the Delta variant is 40% more transmissible" but not until you get to the very end of the article does it state briefly "but scientists also believe that two doses of the vaccine will give you the same protection as the last variant"

Soooooooo that's a good thing right? I'm so sick to fucking death of the media doom clickbaiting now. Everything is reported as a complete fucking disaster in the headlines but then when you get to the end (which a lot appear not to) then there is a tiny bit of balance.

I'm no longer just loitering here, this is my new home, everywhere else is mental so.....errr hello!

😁

WaverleyPirate · 06/06/2021 13:52

Except quite a lot of people have only had one or zero doses, so it would pay to be sensible for a while longer.
