@Sunshinegirl82

If the forecasts were run before the Indian variant was discovered then we should be doing much worse than was modelled not better.

If you're going to be negative (and insulting) at least be logical.

That’s what I was thinking but I wondered if I was missing something... Perhaps @NannyAndJohn could explain?
IcedPurple · 02/06/2021 20:01

@LivinLaVidaLoki

I've a suggestion *@IcedPurple* 😉
Go for it! Smile
LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 20:10

@TruelyStruttingHotpants that picnic is being had on literally every thread here. It's disturbing how many are being derailed by the same old same old Warwick graph of doom. Thought I'd at least be safe here 🙄

Maybe they're like those spammers on Facebook who get paid to spam comments sections with bitcoin scams....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 20:11

I mean what is to be gained from it?

I'm not convinced there are all tha 'many' of them. At least some seem to have a suspiciously similar posting style.

NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 20:15

I think it's great that the occasional titbits of positive news are documented, however one must also be aware of risks and dangers were are currently facing. Look at the bigger picture instead of picking and choosing the things that suit your agenda.

Pot. Kettle.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 02/06/2021 20:19

I think some people must just get off upsetting people or something. Don't reckon we will ever understand why these people pop out of the wood work only when negative news. Well st least what they perceive as negative news anyway. It is very odd.

I'm still slightly puzzled as to why you think we should care about your opinion of this thread. You're just another random MNer with no more or less clue than the rest of us.

And it's not like we can avoid hearing about the 'risks and dangers'. Any time we click on just about every single other thread you're going NUTS about the doom that is about to engulf us all. This is just one thread looking on the bright side and you just can't keep away. Weird.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry that is bloody hilarious. Firstly double standards compared to the rest of the covid board. Secondly have you not read the name of the thread? This is literally a thread to spread an bits of good news we find during the pandemic.

Grin

Do you really think because yesterday there were 0 deaths we thought the virus was gone and we’d not be back to 0+ today ? I’ve also seen you in the thread that people were celebrating the 0 deaths being negative. Why instead of thinking everything is negative and look at the bigger picture : celebrate every good news because when the bad ones come at least you’ll have had some happy days instead of being miserable every day.

Anyway this thread is good news thread as the title says , if we’ve our worries we go to those threads where negative news are being spoken about. Seems like your head is too deep down in the sand and you like it in there. Enjoy it.

Patronising much.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/06/2021 20:26

It must be draining going through life only looking for doom and gloom.

I love this thread, there's enough misery on the Covid board and this is a nice antidote

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 02/06/2021 20:28

Actually the good news about deaths this bank holiday is this.

Last bank holiday there were 27 deaths reported on the Wednesday because of catch up reports.

This Wednesday we have had 12 deaths reported

So sad obviously as deaths but a big improvement

IcedPurple · 02/06/2021 20:40

I know. It's nuts, isn't it?

If you like sniffing the shitty end of the stick that's great for you, it's rude to demand that others do the same though. Just set up your own risks and dangers thread if that's what creams your cracker.
Bordois · 02/06/2021 21:55

Isn't the point of having lots of different threads precisely so each one has its own agenda? Would get a bit confusing if there was just one mega-thread discussing everything at once!

Yes surely this is correct.

@NannyAndJohn can you explain why you posted what you did?

Lol at this. Two billion people worldwide have now had a Covid vaccine. It's hardly occasional titbits. It's monumental. A lot of positive news is emerging daily. We've come along way since the first "good news" thread a year ago, when we discussed the positive stage one vaccine trial results.

Good news deserves it's own thread. To the poster who came onto this thread to spread doom and gloom- just- go away. Get yer own thread

NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 22:39

@BlueBlancmange Because it is poor reporting to use an out of date study to compare the figures to, regardless of whether or not things are looking positive or negative. Not that I'd expect anything else from the Covid denying Spectator.

PomRuns · 02/06/2021 22:40

Ignore. Really unpleasant to attempt to derail the thread.

We saw family today - have not been able to see since last August. It was shocking how much MIL had aged but she looked her normal self when we left - must have been the grandchild effect. So we are now on a rally to get them back to doing some normal things.

So nice to see people.Plus I’m stuffed full of Colin the caterpillar cake - a great day !

OrangeBananaFish · 02/06/2021 22:44

This thread has been a lifesaver for me. My mental health has been really badly effected by this and this good news thread has kept me going. I don't always post, but I do read every post.

I have noticed that the board is more positive than it used to be. The biggest doomsters and most nutty ones do tend to be less and less now. There seems to be more and more people to call them out on it.

PomRuns · 02/06/2021 22:50

Exactly @OrangeBananaFish and it’s pretty awful to be negative on this thread. The title is pretty clear.
