@BlueBlancmange Because it is poor reporting to use an out of date study to compare the figures to, regardless of whether or not things are looking positive or negative. Not that I'd expect anything else from the Covid denying Spectator.
No, you were using the Indian variant to make a point in relation to @Bordois posting that the situation is not as bad as any of the forecasts. What was the point supposed to be?

Harrydresdenssidekick · 02/06/2021 23:28

Reading this thread is my reward at the end of the day. Anyone who comes on it just to be negative is a complete tosser.

HairyFloppins · 02/06/2021 23:31

Agree this thread has been my saviour at times. Carrie/Nuts/Nanny is obviously just running out of threads to piss on, so she/he has picked on this one now.

tobee · 03/06/2021 00:00

Maybe we should be flattered?

The mindset is weird though

I wont hold my breathe whilst you admonish the 2 or 3 people posting the same study to support 3rd wave predictions and further restrictions 👋

Bordois · 03/06/2021 14:57

Currently, for every person testing positive there are 150 people getting a jab. 🥳

Omni calculator still predicting herd immunity via vaccination on 4th September. 93 days to go! 🥳

Good news here. My DC 18 and 21 received GP surgery invitation to book their vaccine today. Totally not expecting it. (Not in surge area).

Is that good news ? I bet someone somewhere else I. The country hasn’t received the Call...

Just kidding :) just following last nights madness when we couldn’t celebrate happy news. Glad to hear that ! Hope it goes well for them :)

EasterIssland · 03/06/2021 16:22

from the data thread
Good news tweet from Covid Fact Check.

Useful info - in England, there are 779 COVID patients in hospital, down from 801 yesterday. There’s been 49 new admissions of patients with Covid in the past 24 hours but 110 were discharged.

In Bolton, the number of hospital patients has dropped to 39, down from 49 a week ago

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 03/06/2021 18:00

Brace yourselves everyone I am afraid there is some bad news or at least some unsure news coming. Twitter is firing up already.

About? For those of us that we don’t have Twitter or don’t know how to use it :)
EasterIssland · 03/06/2021 18:05

Public Health England also said the area worst affected by the Delta variant first found in India remains Bolton, where cases have risen by 795 from last week to a total of 2,149.

Blackburn with Darwen is the second worst affected area where cases of the variant have jumped by 368 week-on-week to a total of 724.

But PHE said there were “encouraging signs” the transmission rate in Bolton was beginning to fall following actions taken by the local authority and residents, including teams of health workers going door-to-door to encourage people to get vaccinated at drop-in centres.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 03/06/2021 18:07

In the mean time before you hear any of it remember this

More than half of UK adults have now had both doses of a coronavirus vaccine. Vaccines minister and Warwickshire MP
@nadhimzahawi's called it heart-warming news, and said those who've had both jabs can breathe a sigh of relief.

Also latest hospital figures show that only 3.7% of covid patients in hospital have had both doses. See attached table❤

If you bare that in mind then everything else will seem a bit less concerning I think.

I am actually off to hospital for a few days myself now. They are going to have a muck about with me to see if they can do anything to make me more comfortable. So don't let the nuts and fruits overtake the picnic whilst I am gone.

TheChineseChicken · 03/06/2021 18:10

What’s the bad news?! I’m not on Twitter

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/06/2021 18:11

Checking in because I have been away and this dropped out of my active convos. Good luck with hospital, Truely.
No new cases in my local authority area for about 10 days now. Before that one there was another 10 days without any, as well.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 03/06/2021 18:12

From what I am hearing they are saying the Delta variant is a lot more likely to put people in hospital or at least send them to A&E.

I have some thoughts about why that would be. All hypothetical at this point though. Either way it is a problem if true. Something that could alter the governments response.

Bordois · 03/06/2021 18:12

Looks like cases have jumped up a bit, id that it?

tobee · 03/06/2021 18:15

Remember that they said the Kent Variant (don't know it's new name) was more lethal? It took them until April until they said actually know it isn't.

It takes time for this type of data to come through. It's very hard to measure.

tobee · 03/06/2021 18:16

Hope they sort you out @TruelyStruttingHotpants

TheChineseChicken · 03/06/2021 18:16

You know what, I’m as desperate for normality as the next person but, if delaying step 4 by eg 4 weeks makes a difference between things staying under control and not, I would rather we just did it. We can see people indoors and out, the weather is miles better. That few weeks means lots more double vaccinations. I would rather postpone it than plough ahead and end up in the shit

Horst · 03/06/2021 18:25

Invite age dropping seems to of slowed down again now. I was expecting the 28-30’s to of opened up by now considering how fast it was dropping.

tobee · 03/06/2021 18:29

Personally I would rather they'd delayed the step 3 stuff. I'm personally not bothered about June 21st. But I feel for those who are; whether personally or industries.

I've still not been into a shop since March 2020, seen my parents three times since last year. Only had a nurse in my house once - no other people, not friends or family. Sat in one friend's garden twice etc etc. You get the picture. No holiday or trips out in the last year. No dc at school. So waiting until after June 21st I'd barely notice.

PomRuns · 03/06/2021 18:42

Good luck @TruelyStruttingHotpants and I hope you get an expert taker of blood ❤️

MRex · 03/06/2021 20:21

Good luck @TruelyStruttingHotpants. Best to consider taking pyjama bottoms for hospital, you don't want to distract the medics.
