@TruelyStruttingHotpants

1,910 hospitals in the United Kingdom

870 patients in hospital with covid at the last report on 27th May

🤓

Erm, you do understand exponential growth, don't you... 😉
Spacie · 02/06/2021 13:52

DS28 got his invitation to book locally yesterday. He's got a slot next week.

amicissimma · 02/06/2021 15:07

Bordois, that thread is bizarre.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 17:17

Can I come begging here for more positive vibes.....apparently the travel announcement is tomorrow and there are rumblings of adding some Greek Islands to the green list (after all if they're adding the balearics and canaries despite Spains high numbers they can't treat the greek Islands differently given their vaccination priorities)

I desperately want to see my family. I miss them all so so much and tbh my aunt is getting on in years, she's like my surrogate mum since my mum died. With all the other stress this last year (I work in children's social care in an area that this pandemic has had a massive effect on) I just really need to see them all and I can't keep hacking all this uncertainty.

Bordois · 02/06/2021 17:30

Well, you know I've got everything crossed for the same island as you!

Oooommmmmmmm!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 17:38

Fingers crossed for you!!! I know how you feel. I’ve been really down since the Indian variant announcement as fear I won’t be able to travel to Spain. I’m from the mainland , hope my Flight departs on the 25th of July! I keep checking every day it’s on (they’ve cancelled everything til tje 22nd) this last year has aged me
whataballbag · 02/06/2021 18:56

My good news for today is that I have S-Antibodies Grin

Bordois · 02/06/2021 19:13

Still tracking way below all SAGE wave of doom hospitalisation predictions.

Good News - Thread 13. 40/30s and onwards to the roaring 20s.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 19:14

But but but @Bordois
Exponential growth.....loads of adults nor vaccinated.....third wave....sage....India....variants everywhere....(head explodes)

Bordois · 02/06/2021 19:15

Even the most optimistic scenario had us at 2100 in hospital at this point

NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 19:18

@Bordois

According to this, we are way below any of the numbers modelled in the eave of doom scenarios.

Although that won't stop the wave of doom being posted constantly...

Those forecasts were run before we knew about the Indian Variant.

Exactly why I'm no longer bothering to refute the wave of doom still being posted! 🤣

We may face another wave yet, but its not a certainity based on the current evidence.

Bordois · 02/06/2021 19:21

Those forecasts were run before we knew about the Indian Variant

And yet, even with the Indian variant numbers are still way below what was forecast 🤷‍♀️

But, as this is the good news thread I'm not going to engage any further.

You just made my head explode :)

Thanks god for some threads like this , when I’m really down because of feeling my flights will be cancelled once again ... I come to these happy threads /:)

NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 19:25

I like to call this the "head in the sand" thread.

Thats nice dear, not heard that one before Smile

Don't let us keep you.

TeenMinusTests · 02/06/2021 19:34

I like to call this the data driven thread that looks for silver linings.

Nanny you don't have to be here, but if you do stay please don't spoil it by being negative.

I like to call this the "head in the sand" thread.
That's great.

Now what would you like us to do with that information?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 19:47

Never understood why, given how many threads on here at any one time, people feel the need to come on to here and other safe spaces to deliberately bring us down or insult us.

Do they just not give a shit that some of us near breaking point on a regular basis and so need somewhere where we can celebrate and highlight the positives.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/06/2021 19:47

I've a suggestion @IcedPurple 😉

amicissimma · 02/06/2021 19:50

"I've a suggestion @IcedPurple "

So have I.

Sunshinegirl82 · 02/06/2021 19:52

If the forecasts were run before the Indian variant was discovered then we should be doing much worse than was modelled not better.

If you're going to be negative (and insulting) at least be logical.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 02/06/2021 19:59

It sounds like today people have been having a picnic with nuts nuts and fruit both inside the thread and outside it 🤪

We are very lucky to have such a factually accurate and positive group here. It is why it has lasted so long and helped so many. I am always amazed when people criticize. Particularly are the majority of the time the information here is spot on right. Takes alsorts I guess 🤷‍♀️
