Furries you're right, absolutely the book version of Jack because TC is just too damn small.

TruelyWonder · 15/05/2021 23:44

@Bordois

If J&J can start rolling out soon that may be a game-changer. I would imagine it would be given to mostly 18-25 year old?
I am confused about that because of the clots issue. They won't be able to give it to younger people like we thought would they?
TruelyWonder · 15/05/2021 23:51

@Furries

Popping up again to say I blooming love you lot! Just defended this thread elsewhere as apparently we are all naive!

Brilliant new re possibility of jabs being increased and also J&J maybe being used very soon.

My younger sister (mid 40’s) had her jab today. She was the last in our fairly small immediate family to get the jab - we’ve all had AZ and she had Pfizer. I told her it was par for the course for her to have to be different 😂

They said we were naive when we defended and explained the 12 week gap or that the priority list was right tooConfused

Most people here are realistic and evidence driven. That like the odd online picnic or cute animal photo Grin

I have a little sister that likes to be different too😂

Furries · 15/05/2021 23:54

@herecomesthsun

According to the Telegraph, the government is aiming to increase vaccinations to 1 million/ day.
Have to say, my brain did that thing of “reading” what it’s got used to. For a split second I read that as “variants to 1 million a day”. Now THAT would be a very interesting thread elsewhere on here!
Furries · 15/05/2021 23:58

@Reachersloveinterest - 😂. Yup, it was just so WRONG! If Jack were in the real world now, I’d like to think that he has secret access to vaccine supply and is roaming the country and jabbing all those who are unable to access it by other means. And he’d obviously never wash a face mask, he’d just buy new ones in whichever dusty town he next rolls in to!

Furries · 16/05/2021 00:04

@TruelyWonder - yay for younger sisters (most of the time!)

Although I’m more of a lurker, it annoys me when people think this thread is a bunch of daft Pollyanna-types!

Haven’t seen enough cute animal pics lately, so I’ll stick one up. I took this to try to show my sister where my cat had been shaved for a few blood tests. He’s so blooming fluffy though, it didn’t really demonstrate 🤣

Any vaccine takes years to test, develop, roll out I'm afraid and will be rubbish anyway. Sorry .....................

TruelyWonder · 16/05/2021 00:10

What a beautiful cat ❤

And that is coming from a strictly dog person 🐕

Was about to get all indignant until I saw your username 🤣🤣

Thanks, he is a cutie and looks even better in real life. I was always a dog person, but was pleasantly surprised when circumstances meant a dog wasn’t viable so got cats instead (said cutie pie and his brother who sadly passed last year). Circumstances changed again so also added a giant dog to the mix. Best of both worlds!

Good news on the India variant.

Good News - Thread 13. 40/30s and onwards to the roaring 20s.
TruelyWonder · 16/05/2021 02:35

Great news from Oxford on B.1.617.2 the India variant.

Slight reduction in neutralisation, in line with 2.9x seen for P.1 from Brazil.

This is only slightly higher than the 2.6x seen for B.1.117 from United Kingdom

Far less than the 9x seen with B.1.351 from South Africa

Well done if you understand all of that. Basically the vaccines should work ok on the India variant. Something like they currently do on the Brazilian variant I think it means Grin

TruelyWonder · 16/05/2021 02:43

No information about transmission yet

tobee · 16/05/2021 02:55

Excellent analysis thanks @TruelyWonder ! Grin

TheChineseChicken · 16/05/2021 06:05

More good news to wake up to!

We’re certainly not naive. We all have wobbles and I spiral into anxiety and despair in really life, I just save it from this thread (save for the odd wobble post). But no good comes from obsessing over negativity.

PomRuns · 16/05/2021 07:20

I tried to post the Twitter link - can’t seem to get it to work. Anyway it’s good news!

Our thread has been monitored if we do mention other threads and posts deleted - strange other threads can talk about us !

springhasalmostsprung · 16/05/2021 07:42

@Bordois

Also says booking will open to over 35s within the coming dsys
Please!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 07:46

re AZ and younger people.
When they said not to give AZ to younger people it was based on risk of covid v risk of vaccine.
If the India variant proves to be more risky then the balance shifts and AZ will presumably come back in to play again for younger people.
That's right isn't it?

springhasalmostsprung · 16/05/2021 08:13

I think you're right @TeenMinusTests but I'm hoping this doesn't happen before I get my vaccine as o would just feel better with an alternative right now

TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 08:17

I've just had a text saying I can bring forward my second vaccine booking if I want to.

PomRuns · 16/05/2021 09:05

Are you in a high risk area @TeenMinusTests

TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 09:08

Don't think so - leafy Hampshire.

DH also has had text and has brought forward his booking from half term to tomorrow.
I think I might leave mine where it is as I am steering DD through her GCSE assessments. You have to unbook and rebook and there are too many times that would be inconvenient.

PomRuns · 16/05/2021 09:12

Interesting - I hope DH can bring his forward. He’s early 40s.
