I am so glad this thread exists - I have been feeling super hopeful recently so this new Indian Variant stuff is causing a wobble with me. Thanks for posting the science xx

"
Well all the doom sayers can now congratulate themselves. They were right and we were wrong. So well done them 👏👏👏"

I really don't think you can say that they are yet @OrangeBananaFish. It's still all very much at the modelling stage. Headlines are all worse case scenario.

Great to hear the fans singing! (Come on you Foxes!)

PomRuns · 15/05/2021 18:39

Mac n Chise has just tweeted that a study in India showed that only 0.06% of health workers vaccinated with AZ were hospitalised with Covid, and there were no deaths or ICU admissions.

tobee · 15/05/2021 19:06

Not sure when this was published, but link to article on universal vaccine development for all coronaviruses including common cold and ones "still in bats":-

Absolutely @tobee

That’s a good tweet @Ifyourefeelingsinister

Keep the positivity coming 😊

BunsyGirl · 15/05/2021 19:20

The latest figures for my county (Essex) show that there were 10 people hospitalised with Covid as at 11 May. There were 1441 at the peak in January. A drop of 99.31%.

TheChineseChicken · 15/05/2021 19:37

Didn’t think I would be seeing any good news today! Thanks Wine Cake Flowers

herecomesthsun · 15/05/2021 23:14

According to the Telegraph, the government is aiming to increase vaccinations to 1 million/ day.

OrangeBananaFish · 15/05/2021 23:18

Just had a glance at tomorrow's papers. Seems a bit more positive. Talk of offering jabs to over the 35s this week, upping jabs to a possible million a day and the approval of J&J within days. We might have a chance yet. I think it sounds like the government are trying to vaccinate to escape a surge with the Indian variant.

🙏❤🥳
Bordois · 15/05/2021 23:28

If J&J can start rolling out soon that may be a game-changer. I would imagine it would be given to mostly 18-25 year old?

carolinesbaby · 15/05/2021 23:29

I'm so glad I have re-discovered this thread after losing you all for a while and slipping down the rabbit hole of the news the last day or two. Got to keep positive.

Bordois · 15/05/2021 23:30

Also says booking will open to over 35s within the coming dsys

Furries · 15/05/2021 23:35

Popping up again to say I blooming love you lot! Just defended this thread elsewhere as apparently we are all naive!

Brilliant new re possibility of jabs being increased and also J&J maybe being used very soon.

My younger sister (mid 40’s) had her jab today. She was the last in our fairly small immediate family to get the jab - we’ve all had AZ and she had Pfizer. I told her it was par for the course for her to have to be different 😂

Keep meaning to ask this whenever I see you post, but am assuming your name referred to Jack? Is so, bog off, he’s totally mine! To clarify, the one I’ve visualised from the books, not the one played by TC in the film 🤣

My local gp used to do Fridays and Saturdays ... now it’s nearly 5 day a week so def I can see just in a small community how they’re ramping up. Hope it’s similar accross the country
BunsyGirl · 15/05/2021 23:43

I know someone currently in Bolton who has messaged to say that people of all ages have been out in Bolton today getting their vaccines.
