AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

@the80sweregreat

I had the first jab early March. In the Last few weeks I've had shooting pains and a weak leg when I stand up ( doesn't last long ) lightening headaches. I'm not sure if it's just coincidence or if it's the jab as others have said the same. I did have a heavy arm for a day or two after the jab. It could be unrelated. Next one is in June : I'm dreading it now.
Have you had it checked out? I do worry a lot of people will develop x or y after having the jab and attribute it to that rather than see a GP.
tywysoges · 22/04/2021 09:42

I had mine on Tuesday, sore arm and very tired yesterday, today I’m feeling the brightest I’ve felt in a long time. I’m guessing the fatigue helped me sleep better. Arm still mildly sore. Completely different reaction to DH, who felt terrible for a couple of days.

oneglassandpuzzled · 22/04/2021 09:44

I had very mild flu-like symptoms for about eight hours the next day. That was all.

BunsyGirl · 22/04/2021 11:04

It’s now five days since I had the vaccine and I am still not back to normal. I have a headache and my temp is still high for me at 37.8 (was 39.5 12 hours after the vaccine). I’m going to go for a PCR test although I absolutely know that it’s the vaccine - I always get ill after the flu vaccine although this has been worse. Think I may also have to phone the GP as although my headache is not severe, it won’t go away.

longingforthesand · 22/04/2021 11:41

I am also quite sensitive to light suddenly as well, my eyes kind of hurt

@provencegal

I had a light sensitivity and 'eyes hurting' episode a few years ago after a bad flare up of herpes simplex (cold sore). In my case it resolved completely in 2 or 3 weeks. I read somewhere that it sometimes happens after a viral infection but it's not a very well publicised symptom. Pretty scary though.

I guess in your case it could be part of your immune system's response to the antigen in the vaccine (i.e. your immune system is fighting the antigen and producing antibodies).

Hope you feel better soon

HappyThursdays · 22/04/2021 14:08

I am starting to feel a bit more normal....just for those monitoring the side effects. I still feel spaced out but imagine a good sleep tonight and I should be right as rain tomorrow (fingers crossed). My temp is now back to normal from 40C this morning!

Wiebsa · 22/04/2021 14:17

I felt very tired and spent the following day in bed otherwise no problems, I am early 50s.

Holshicup · 22/04/2021 14:30

AZ yesterday, nothing as yet but a slightly sore arm.

minimoojo · 22/04/2021 14:58

Update from me a day on is that I had my vaccine Tues 10am, I slept very badly and had awful headache and sickness all that night and the following morning. I improved significantly 36 hours after the jab. Slept well the second night and feel pretty ok 48 hours later.
I was very anxious beforehand, but I'm pleased I had the vaccine.

Tumbleweed101 · 22/04/2021 17:09

Had mine yesterday about 12.30. Fine all day, started getting really cold about 7pm (not shivery) but was sat outside so blamed that. Went to bed about 10pm, woke about 2am and restless the rest of the night. Alarm went about 6am and felt like had mild hangover. Had some paracetamol and got up for work about 7am (went in a bit late). Have felt mildly drained and tired all day but was still able to work. Arm feels bruised but only when touched or if I'm lifting things. Will see how I am later.

Glitterblue · 22/04/2021 17:49

I had mine this morning, I've had a headache all afternoon and fell asleep from 2-3 which isn't like me at all. Now I feel as if I'm wading through treacle and my brain feels foggy.

Ginandfantalemon · 22/04/2021 18:45

Had my jab 11 days ago. Sore arm and a bit woozy for a couple of days with a headache. Headache is still there daily along with the stiff neck a few others have mentioned. I also am suffering palpitations daily. I had the Pfizer. Health anxiety is in overdrive.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 22/04/2021 19:21

First AZ - killer headache, pins and needles, palpitations - fine in a week. 2nd jab - achy arm for a few hours (like I get when I have my flu jab each year). Suspect I had covid a year ago but never tested due to not being hospitalized.

DH - only had first AZ so far (felt like he had covid again - up and down for 24 hours but fine after).

Dd1 (Phizer not AZ) - first only so far. Tired for a couple of days and a hot spell for a hour or so later that evening (previously had covid with tiredness and loss of smell).

HoxtonBonnet · 22/04/2021 20:42

I had mine at 7pm last night. Went to bed feeling fine and was also fine when I got up. Went into work and started feeling fluey at around 11am. Sore neck, shivery and achey. A couple of paracetamol got rid of that. I am beginning to feel a bit rough again and will take more paracetamol before bed.

GillBiggeloesHair · 23/04/2021 05:58

Had AZ yesterday at 08:00.
Round about 16:00 I started to feel a bit achey. By 20:00 I was in bed with a hot water bottle and scarf, I was so cold. I live in the med so it's not cold at all here.

Had stabbing pains in my limbs.
Worst headache ever and absolutely the worst nights sleep in my life.

Still feel a bit crap now TBH.

Glitterblue · 23/04/2021 21:06

I've been in bed all day today. Vaccine yesterday, chills started 11 hours after then sweating all day and a horrific headache

GillBiggeloesHair · 23/04/2021 21:10

I had to go back to bed, slept 11am to 5pm.Still not feeling great.

Holshicup · 23/04/2021 21:39

Two days on... Still nothing but a sore arm, beginning to wonder what they injected me with!
Took a day off work to be on the safe side, ended up going for a run and clearing out the garage rather than the sofa movie day I imagined.

penni00 · 23/04/2021 21:46

I still have mild headache from AZ 5 weeks ago, not sure whether I will have the second dose. I don;t think I am alone with this, but I think only a small number of people are affected this way. Whether you get no/mild /moderate or longer lasting side effects seems to be the luck of the draw. I get the impression most get mild to moderate short lived side effects, so it shouldn't put anyone off having the vac.

penni00 · 23/04/2021 21:55

Does anyone know how long protection lasts with the first dose if you never have the second dose?

nixso29 · 23/04/2021 21:57

Had my 1st jab Tuesday 7pm, felt fine and slept through the night ok. Woke for work next day @7am and body felt so heavy, vacinnated arm felt like someone had punched me really hard, generally just a bit achy but most prominent symptom was a headache that even paracetamol couldn't completely shake the whole day. Day 2 felt much better apart from still a mild headache but manageable with paracetamol. Currently on Day 3 and woke with a slight sore head but other than that I'm feeling back to normal. No chills/fever/tiredness. I feel quite lucky after reading some of the experiences on here! Mid 30s, no health issues, suspected Covid way back in March of last year but not tested at the time

penni00 · 23/04/2021 22:44

For those like me that have prolonged mild headache since the vac, I also have sensitivity to bright light and eyes hurting slightly when looking at screens that has accompanied the prolonged mild headache. It is making me wonder whether as peoples blood tests are coming back ok what these headaches are. Could the AZ trigger chronic migraines? Could the AZ upset nerves that take weeks to settle? I want to know exactly what the headaches are all about plus whether they will definitely go away altogether eventually. Mine has improved over time but if the AZ doses were 4 weeks apart as originally planned, there is no way I would have wanted to have a second dose at the 4 week point. I will not have the second dose if I still have the headache at the 12 week point. I assume AZ looked for prolonged mild side effects in their trials???

IncyWincySpiderOnRepeat · 23/04/2021 22:53

Question for those who have been unwell after the AZ jab.... do you think you would have been able to look after a 6 month old solo during the first 24-48 hours after the jab?

I can book mine now but have no help with my 6 month and 6 year old overnight for 6 nights (and days) of the week so am feeling a bit nervous about the severity of the side effects being discussed on this thread.

ofallthedays2 · 23/04/2021 23:51

I’m seriously considering not getting the jab after reading this thread. I’m in my 30s and the chances of me catching Covid and getting seriously ill from it are tiny.

Glitterblue · 24/04/2021 01:08

@IncyWincySpiderOnRepeat I most definitely couldn't have. I struggled to get my 11 year old out to school yesterday, and that only involved waking her up, getting her a drink (she can't eat breakfast) telling her where to find her clean uniform and doing her ponytail. Then I was straight back to bed the minute DH took her to school, and this is me only just feeling human enough to be out of bed at 1am the next day. The headache has been absolutely horrific, the chills were awful too and I've been aching all over. The headache has been the worst bit though. I'm 38 hours post jab now.
