Moderna side effects

Hi, I am having the Moderna jab in the morning... and just wondering if any of you have had it already and what side effects you might have had after it? Not sure what to expect, is it a bit fluey like the AZ one?

@Poppytime see I was actually pre menstrual at the time, but I usually just get a bit grumpy/sensitive for a couple of days then I'm fine once my period starts. This was horrendous, floods of tears over nothing and absolutely crippling anxiety. It's two weeks since I had the jab and I've only just started feeling more normal the last couple of days.
I'm sure there must be a link but very strange!

bordersarebest · 08/06/2021 15:26

I've read a couple of people on here mention they've had their 2nd jab. If you've had your 2nd are you in the UK ? My 2nd is booked for 11 weeks after my 1st so I'm interested to know if anyone in UK has had their 2nd yet or has a smaller gap between doses ?? Thanks 😊

Fancyfencepost · 08/06/2021 15:29

My second is scheduled for this week, just under 8 weeks since the first.

Fancyfencepost · 08/06/2021 15:31

Meant to say, in Scotland

Mixington · 08/06/2021 16:15

@bordersarebest indeed I live abroad. The vaccine programme here was very slow to start with lots of criticism but then all of a sudden they pulled their finger out and you automatically got booked in for your second shot whilst doing the first, and all with 4-5 weeks.

We are in quite a small (and very rich) country so my speculation is that the authorities bided their time, watched other countries first and THEN decided how best to go about it all. As I say, purely my own speculation.

Still feeling rubbish. Fluey aches and pains, a bit hot then shivery. Colleagues tell me it’ll be short-lived though.

That's brilliant 👏 Did you book the 2nd the same time as your 1st ?

Thanks for the update. I have family in the states who've had Moderna & they only had 4 weeks between jabs. Although I'm guessing your not there as it's definitely not a small country !! Hope you feel better soon 🤞

Hi borders, I didn’t have to book, I just got the letter in the post over a week ago so very pleasantly surprised. Ready for the sore arm again!

That's great, hopefully you're arm won't be as sore next time 🙏 mine was agony the 1st one 🙈
Fancyfencepost · 08/06/2021 17:22

I’ll let you know!

Fancyfencepost · 11/06/2021 20:32

Felt ok initially..... COVID arm started overnight and that was worse than last time and then felt fluey for 24 hours. Feel better now! Fingers crossed.

MamOfTwo · 13/06/2021 17:11

Re-reading this to see what side effects the second dose may bring as mine is coming up in a few weeks! Just had sore arm and low-level nausea after first dose but have heard with Moderna second dose side effects may be worse.

Fancyfencepost · 13/06/2021 17:45

I feel absolutely fine now, flu symptoms only lasted for 24 hours and arm is slightly stiff. Slept a lot, took some nurofen and all was well. I’ve heard the second one was worse, but it was worse it you had previously had COVID. Good luck.

lakesummer · 13/06/2021 17:52

After my second dose I had flu like symptoms for a couple of days.
Tiredness, fever and aches and pains.

Choccymumma · 13/06/2021 22:20

Anyone still have a lymph node up? Mine is 6 weeks now.

Bubbean · 14/06/2021 07:11

Oh gosh I hope my side affects aren’t worse the second time!! Shock
I’m only just normal again 4 weeks after 1st vaccination!

Meltinthemiddle · 16/06/2021 08:38

I came on my period a week early and had a achy arm. My arm still aches now occasionally a month after having it 😑

Lookdeepintotheparka · 03/07/2021 16:52

Anyone else feel much worse side effects after 2nd Moderna jab? Apart from the sore arm, I barely noticed the first one but had the 2nd jab yesterday and had 24 hrs of chills, muscle aches and headache.

On the plus side, the arm is a bit less sore this time around!

Tolacar · 03/07/2021 20:15

I am three days post second jab, felt a bit tired and achy on Thursday, then Friday felt ok, but by Friday night I have a temp, feel a bit off and not feeling so good today. Hoping it will pass soon.

Halfwreckedbykids · 04/07/2021 07:02

I had second jab 4 weeks and a few days after first.
On first was tired sore
On second I had over 48 hrs of 40 degree temps. Jaws locked up. Needed help to roll in bed and going to the loo (7 ft away) was terrible.
Took neurophen or panadol every 3 hrs and got a respite from 40 d to 38d for an hour or two but always back to 40 within the 3 hrs.

In a pool of sweat and I cried on the last day because I really thought I couldn't keep it up.
Breathless then followed after the 48 hrs so on steroids now.. ashma was triggered by the temps.
4 days on I m up but really tired but I ll make a nice dinner today because the poor kids have suffered enough of DH s "cooking" ...omg it was some dose

Lookdeepintotheparka · 04/07/2021 08:56

Oh wow @Halfwreckedbykids - poor you Flowers That sounds really grim Sad

Am just starting to feel a bit better nearly 48 hrs later but now have a bright red rash all over! I don't know anyone else IRL who had Moderna - all my friends and family have had either AZ or Pfizer and they felt worse after the first one.

hanahsaunt · 04/07/2021 17:43

I had my second Moderna on Thursday, exactly 12 weeks after the first (which I had sailed through). I wasn't expecting anything other than the same sore arm 24h later so was quite disappointed to have the sore arm start by 9pm. I then had no sleep for arm pain which was just awful. I felt absolutely rubbish on Friday and lurched from paracetemol to brufen to keep going through the day. Thankfully arm had eased enough to sleep Friday night and yesterday was much better - a bit like the last day of a rubbish cold and today I am completely fine. And double-jabbed - hoorah!

Poppytime · 12/07/2021 17:16

Has anyone had the lymph node(s) in their neck on the jabbed side come up after the vaccine? Had second dose on Friday and now noticed grape sized swelling at base of neck (got a little one the other side, basically lymph node site I think). Freaking out a bit but hoping that if I'd had it ages I'd have noticed it before and fact it's the side of the vaccine means it's related....and not something more sinister

Poppytime · 12/07/2021 17:17

Btw my arm was sore almost immediately after the second dose, and quite bad for a couple of days. Much better today

user34254356 · 14/07/2021 07:55

I just had my second dose yesterday and feeling quite hot and sweaty. Also have a raised heart rate on activity. Did anyone have that?
