Moderna side effects

Hi, I am having the Moderna jab in the morning... and just wondering if any of you have had it already and what side effects you might have had after it? Not sure what to expect, is it a bit fluey like the AZ one?

I had it too. My arm was very painful at the injection site for 24 hours afterwards, more than your average jab but nothing terrible. I also felt like napping for most of the following day and luckily was free to do so, if I'd had to work I definitely could have done so, though, as it wasn't that bad, so please don't anyone feel put off by that.

DH and I had ours yesterday (10 am for DH, 3 pm for me).

I had covid in January and am still not right (I was quite ill but no respiratory problems thankfully).

Today DH is a little under the weather and has a sore arm and upset tummy, but seems to be coping well.

I have just crawled into bed having taken paracetamol. I have a fever, headache, feel drunk (head spinning and nauseous), and am really achy all over.

@MummaPI

Day 12 and I have a lymph node up on my collarbone. Anyone else had anything like this?
Day 11 my lymph node came up in my right armpit and next day the node in the left armpit came up. They were really sore and tender but have gone down today- day 16.

My left arm (vaccination site) and shoulder also started aching again yesterday. It has been on and off but was quite uncomfortable earlier.

I have also been unusually tired since having the vaccine. But my hormones have gone to pot lately (peri menopause) period has gone awol but still having god awful pmt, so hard for me to know whether it’s that or vaccine side effects.

Poppytime · 19/05/2021 20:07

Just to report I am on day 5 post vaccine and both me and my husband woke up with sore and bit swollen underarm which I guess is lymph nodes and just noticed my collarbone is a little swollen on left (vaccine) side too. Also feel knackered but that could
be the kids Grin

Had my moderna jab 12 hours ago - my arm is really hurting! Very sore in the vaccine site, and feels kind of numb and heavy all the way down to my fingers. I’m hoping it’s better by the morning - I feel ok other than that.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 19/05/2021 21:15

I’ve had my Moderna vaccine today, also have a really sore arm. That is all at the moment but it hasn’t even been 12 hours yet.

One thing I’d like to know is about the timeframe for 2nd dose. I had to book both 1st & 2nd online at the same time, earliest available date for 2nd dose was August. The leaflet I got given says second dose should be given 28days later? Does anyone know whether I’ll need to re-book?

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2021 21:19

I had mine a week ago on Friday. My arm was very sore and I was so, so tired the following day. Luckily it was the weekend so I could sleep, because I really needed to. After three days I was fine, back to normal.

LaChatte · 19/05/2021 21:53

Now on day 5, flu symptoms only lasted 24hrs thankfully. Arm almost painless again. Have had a sore throat since lunchtime, not sure if it's got anything to do with vaccin or not!

museumum · 19/05/2021 22:09

Dh had moderna - very sore arm but only mild hangover feeling the next day. Nurses there said that’s been their experience. 90%+ get a really sore arm but few feel very ill compared to the other types.

Froglette16 · 19/05/2021 23:24

I had my first Moderna about 5 weeks ago. Felt fine afterwards. Around 8-10 hours later had nausea and vomiting. Stopped as soon as it started. Fine the next day. Slight pain around the injection site which disappeared after 24 hrs. Friends in the USA who’ve had both doses say the second can be worse but the side effects only last for a day after the second jab.

margeisthelaw · 20/05/2021 05:08

I had 1st dose moderna on Monday and other than the very sore upper arm for 48 hours (now completely gone other than if I press the injection site), I have had absolutely no side effects whatsoever, if anything I feel better than normal. The arm pain is different from other vaccines I’ve had in that it was a really sore muscle ache pain that made lifting the arm almost impossible, it was almost like a large bruise/pulled muscle pain.

Watercoloursky · 20/05/2021 07:52

OH had Moderna - he had a sore arm by evening of jab day, and the following day he felt a bit tired and nauseous (but a nap put him right again) - after that, though, he was absolutely fine :-)

rbubu · 20/05/2021 09:36

Had Moderna 3 days ago. Arm a bit achy for a day or so, but that's all. Feel completely normal at the moment so a bit of an anticlimax for me, gratefully!

nordica · 20/05/2021 09:54

It's been a week since mine now and other than the tired/achey feeling the first 24 hours, I haven't had any other side-effects. In fact it's been so mild I'm almost worried it's not working, but I know that's not the case usually. So many of my friends had AZ and were unwell for days.

HarrietOh · 20/05/2021 22:25

Had my first dose 4 hours ago and have a sore arm. Hoping that’s it! I’ve had COVID already, not sure if that’s making any difference.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 21/05/2021 17:50

I’m now on day 3 and my arm is nearly back to normal - I was unable to sleep on it for 2 nights. Other than the arm soreness I’ve been ok. DH had the AZ and he was feeling very sorry for himself with fever etc. for a day or two.

HarrietOh · 21/05/2021 18:04

Well sadly not even 12 hours on and I feel rotten. Haven’t felt great all day, aching and just generally feeling really unwell. Went to bed for a couple of hours then perked up, however a few hours on back to feeling ill again. I never suffer side effects with other vaccines. I’ve had COVID last year so wondering if that’s a cause.

VicarOfWibbly · 21/05/2021 18:25

Arm hurt a bit from having a needle stuck in the muscle but definitely able to move it like normal and other than that absolutely no side effects at all.

quite likely because i have had covid and similarly 6 hours later and was in bed. The next day I had extreme fatigue and migraine too. The following day much better but 10 days on I still have fatigue and headaches. If this is dose 1, i wonder what dose 2 would be like
HarrietOh · 22/05/2021 08:37

Had a rough night with chills and fever. Lymph node in arm pit very swollen and sore. Feeling OK this morning so I’m hoping that’s the last of it! Got a feeling this is because I’ve had covid as friends who haven’t have all been fine with moderna. Typical, as I only had a headache with covid so this is worse Grin hoping 2nd one is better!

Bubbean · 23/05/2021 19:12

I had a moderna a week ago today ... a Sunday at 4pm. By Monday morning i felt wiped out and luckily was able to have short nap. The weirdest symptom has been a kind of itchy feeling at random places on my body. First knee, then elbow then thigh... moves around. Not painful exactly. Just odd! Then my period came a week early! A week on from vaccine I’m feeling achy and tired. Could be because of period or toddler waking at 5:30 every day... who knows.

Bubbean · 23/05/2021 19:12

Sorry should say side effect not symptom

rainbowfairydust · 23/05/2021 19:27

Really odd as I didn't get any issues at all, felt a bit flushed a couple of times but the weather warmed up

tulips27 · 23/05/2021 19:30

After I posted this I got much worse, a slight temperature, headache and most of all extreme fatigue where I lay in bed for a whole day. The next day the fatigue continued and then it ended. Odd considering I'm not meant to have had Covid.
LaChatte · 23/05/2021 21:32

Just over a week on and I new feel fine (even better than before, seems like my long covid may be coming to an end, although most things still smell of popcorn).
