Hi, I am having the Moderna jab in the morning... and just wondering if any of you have had it already and what side effects you might have had after it? Not sure what to expect, is it a bit fluey like the AZ one?

How weird. I had a very sore aching arm fire a coup!e of days, then. A week later woke up with a raised itchy swollen patch on my upper arm just below the jab site. It felt so much like when I'd had horsefly bites in the past I assumed it was bug bite, but may be it was a side effect. It passed after a couple of days but I did need to take antihistamines as it was hot and swollen and itchy.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses

Just checking back in to say I feel a bit "off" today - like I am coming down with a cold. That might just be co-incidence though! My arm is still very sore, but I washed and blow-dried my hair as normal, so nothing that is really limiting me.

This is probably entirely unrelated, but I am inexplicably 3lb heavier today than usual - I weigh myself every morning so it's not a gradual creep. I usually fluctuate by a pound or so, but that seemed like a jump.

Just your body retaining a bit more fluid than normal. Nothing to worry about. Probably connected to the immune system's response to the vaccine, but it will reverse quickly.
Cameleongirl · 26/04/2021 14:27

I had mine just over a week ago. My arm was sore for 48 hours s as he I felt abit “off” for a couple of hours the next day, but then back to normal. DH had his on Saturday and feels the same-luckily he took today off work on so he’s pottering around...he’s making sure I know he feels under the weather and eliciting as much sympathy as possible.🤣

How do you all know which vaccine you're getting in advance? I'm flummoxed by this.

Moderna at 4pm today. Arm aching like buggery and I feel tired. But that may be because I had to get up early and actually go to the office!

LoopyPoopy · 26/04/2021 22:23

Had Modena at lunch time today and my God my arm is in pain, I’ve been walking around like it’s in a sling...in fact a sling wouldn’t be a bad idea!
No other symptoms yet.

SeaTurtles92 · 26/04/2021 22:48

@pawsbaws I phoned the pharmacy a couple of days before mine and they told me AZ.

Ha ha! Yes, I quite fancy a sling. Shoulder hurts and it's now annoying. Going to find ibuprofen.
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/04/2021 09:10

Updating to say that my sore arm vanished yesterday, and feels 100% normal today - I'd say it lasted 48 hours on the dot.

I have also "lost" the 3lb I mysteriously acquired overnight. Thank you for the reassurance, @bookworm1632!

lookdeepintotheparka · 27/04/2021 12:45

Yes my painful arm was 48 hours too. No other side effects at all other than I have a massive boil which has appeared out of nowhere Confused There are meant to be some associated skin responses to the Moderna jab.

LoopyPoopy · 27/04/2021 13:41

24 hours on and my arm is still painful but not as bad as last night so already feel like the worst is behind me. Hoping mine will be back to normal tomorrow like others have said.
No other symptoms to report.

Love2cycle · 27/04/2021 13:45

Has mind 9am this morning. Just starting to feel quite tired (but normally do this time of day). Arm is starting to feel heavy and achy.

bordersarebest · 27/04/2021 15:17

Can I ask which venues people had Moderna at please ? OH had it last week at Reading Madjeski but I appreciate it can vary day to day. Thanks 😊

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/04/2021 18:40

I’m in Scotland @bordersarebest

I keep hearing it is 28 days between doses, which is what the leaflet I got said/government website says. When are people expecting to have jab two?

Sadik · 27/04/2021 18:45

I was told when I had my jab that I'd be called back at some time between 4-12 weeks - Wales, mass vaccination centre

Oh is booked in for his second dose 12 weeks after his first. We're in England. Maybe it varies between vaccine sites ??
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/04/2021 19:19

It works differently here, you just get a letter with an appointment, no choice. I will be watching for the postman!

RunAwayNow · 27/04/2021 20:17

I just had Moderna at St Helens rugby stadium. Can't even feel it, I've never had a reaction to a vaccination before so hoping they won't start now!

Sloelydoesit · 27/04/2021 23:11

Ok, I'm going to put this one out there. I've definitely noticed a change and it's not anything different I've eaten. And it's more prolific and loud.

Flatulence.

I literally haven't stopped farting

thereinmadnesslies · 27/04/2021 23:16

Did anyone in the herts / Cambs area have Moderna? Can you tell me where?
