Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

I booked through Guys, but i am wondering if i will still be able to rebook via the central system? I was hoping also to book somewhere else where I can have a chance of Moderna - due to certain contraindications. It shows me and DH both as ineligible on NHS site (both 1978)

Marjoriesdoor · 26/04/2021 13:47

Has anyone successfully changed their appointment to get a closer centre? I wonder if over the next couple of days, more options will be added but I am reluctant to try and rebook or cancel as I worry I will lose my place and kick myself! Argh! Thank you in advance

Marjoriesdoor · 26/04/2021 13:48

I booked mine on the main booking system by the way (haven't had an invitation from my GP).

WarriorN · 26/04/2021 13:55

Dh and I have today had 3 texts inviting us for jabs, two from nhs and one from his work... busses and that....! 🚃

TokyoSushi · 26/04/2021 14:01

Eeeek! I can book for DH, April 78, Cheshire!

pommedeterre · 26/04/2021 14:02

Its so exciting when it lets you in isn't it Tokyo! I do agree that 40-44 seems to have been the most weirdly handled age group yet. I think might be to do with AZ for 30-39 group too.

WarriorN · 26/04/2021 14:02

It should let you manage it Marjorie, I suppose it's whether there are any nearer appointments.

WaitingForNormality · 26/04/2021 14:02

@Caulidop

I had my vaccine this weekend and born 83, my area appears to have text out to all over 30's last weekend.
Where abouts are you?

Nothing like that here and AFAIK we're still doing 45+ here. I'm so so keen for them to call up the 30s purely so that I can get a vaccine before I'm due to go into hospital for surgery in 5 weeks time to deliver my baby. Hospital want a week between vaccine and surgery and I can't see it happening at this current rate.

So exciting!!! Now I'm browsing the vaccination centres like I'm browsing holidays!

WarriorN, I am just a bit nervous about pressing the "Cancel appointments" button in case the options it then gives me are later dates (I really want to get it done this week). Does it cancel your appointments before you can browse alternatives, does anyone know?

Very happy for you, it's startling to suddenly get in! You tried yesterday I think so that's an additional year loaded today then!?! Have all the other 43yo tried yet? And 42? 40 still not open for DH...

Yes it does. If you're ok with your appointment then I'd wait to cancel it late at night when there aren't many people on, or ask someone else in the area to check if there are lots of appointments first.

I try every couple of hours @MRex !! I just feel like it's another step towards this all being over!

ProfessorPootle · 26/04/2021 14:14

Been jabbed in W London this morning with AZ, got a sticker :) as I was driving there I received the NHS text saying I was eligible and should book!

I booked Thursday evening after seeing people on this thread age 44 we’re able to. I just missed out on the 45 cut off as birthday May 76. Hopefully they’ll keep working through the ages, speaking to the vaccinator she said she thought the 40s were being released in smaller groups to avoid the system crashing which it did with 45-49

MRex · 26/04/2021 14:15

Right, Frazzled0207 - you are officially next in line in charge of trying to get in!!

Yay..been checking religiously over the weekend and just got through to be able to book(Dec 77) ..
Unfortunately nothing closer than London which is not feasible! But I've got a foot in the door now and will keep trying for a local one
Thanks all for the updates on your progress

Notstrongandstable · 26/04/2021 14:18

I'm in Sussex, btw

December 1977 in SE London here. Still can’t book. I’m so bloody fed up of it now. Feels like everyone else is getting jabbed and I just feel left behind, it’s really getting me down.

Notstrongandstable · 26/04/2021 14:23

For the late 77 people I'm sure it'll be really soon for you guys..I'm in Sussex but being offered appointments at Guys and similar places for Weds...none of which work for me. keep checking back in today, I'm sure it'll be soon

MRex · 26/04/2021 14:24

From the loading we saw before the other 1977 people must still be loading right now if April 1978 has got in, worth trying again in an hour if it says you aren't eligible still.

@Marjoriesdoor

I have just been able to book mine and I am 42 (East Anglia). Sadly the nearest vaccine centre it would give me is 30 miles away but better than nothing so I am booked in for Thursday. It involves over an hour of driving but I am just grateful to have been able to book.
Also 42 east anglia and can’t book😞

Cumbria, just turned 42, Apr 79, booked just now for the Penrith hub for both appts. Wasn't offering Boots Carlisle where DH, 45, had his just over a week ago but that's ok. Penrith only a short drive, so relieved!
