Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

@Florelei

I don’t get all of this distress over the tiny risk of blood clots. I really don't. People probably do all sorts of things every day which carries a higher risk of harm and don’t even think about it.

Also, why just over AZ? Isn’t there also a risk of clots from the other jabs?

janseen which is not approved in uk however, I agree with you
Foosterin · 26/04/2021 12:33

@Wakeupin2022 but surely they have never wanted to overwhelm the system? So why the new style glacial pace now? It just seems a really annoying way of doing things. Take up in the 45 - 49s is, so far, lower than other age groups. So how long do we wait for them? I've been teaching throughout all this and I'm 43 and I'm just so fed up now. I have friends the same age who were vaccinated weeks ago.

Eccle80 · 26/04/2021 12:43

@Foosterin if you are 43 I would keep trying regularly over the next couple of days in case they stagger it a year at a time

I agree though, 40-49 were meant to be one group unlike older age groups where they split in 5 year bands. Especially as so many GPs have been vaccinating under 45s for weeks they should just open up to 40-44 to take away the postcode lottery for the younger 40s

freeez · 26/04/2021 12:51

43 (dec 77) I've just been able to book for Thursday!!!

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/04/2021 12:51

They went down gradually before in previous age groups as I was checking for my mum who is 64, it key her book on the Saturday then on Monday is changed to 64 and over.

Once DH is done I don't think I'll have anyone to check for until it reaches early 30s, won't know what to do with myself haha.

Eccle80 · 26/04/2021 12:53

@freeez great news, does that suggest they have added another year on then? It was up to end of June 77 before wasn’t it?

freeez · 26/04/2021 13:03

I reckon they must have added another year (at least) yes.

I knew I was in when it asked me if I'd had a flu vaccine in the past 7 days...it hadn't asked me that on the previous 2000 tries!

Deedippy · 26/04/2021 13:05

Nope just tried for dp. Jan 78 and still not able to book. Maybe they have added 6 months

AlexandraEiffel · 26/04/2021 13:06

Yes I've never been so excited about a question about a flu vaccine as that one!
Foosterin · 26/04/2021 13:08

Yes, I've managed to book. Now I can finally stop complaining! Nov 77. Just hope they don't turn me away now.

Marjoriesdoor · 26/04/2021 13:08

I have just been able to book mine and I am 42 (East Anglia). Sadly the nearest vaccine centre it would give me is 30 miles away but better than nothing so I am booked in for Thursday. It involves over an hour of driving but I am just grateful to have been able to book.

Bakingboy · 26/04/2021 13:09

So looks like it might be regional

shumway · 26/04/2021 13:16

I'm June 78 and just been able to book.

LittleRen · 26/04/2021 13:17

It's so weird... why does it let some people book and not others? Is it linked to area? I am 36 so a way off by Husband is Aug 77 and nothing yet.

I think previously people have reported it adds on gradually within an age group? So for the late 77s and early 78s, try again in another hour or two and hopefully it will then let you book. I think that is why the front page isn’t updated immediately.

Hopefully this all means we will get a year added each day

Level75 · 26/04/2021 13:30

I think some who can book are allowed as their GP has authorised to invite them.

Caulidop · 26/04/2021 13:30

I had my vaccine this weekend and born 83, my area appears to have text out to all over 30's last weekend.

Nothing77 · 26/04/2021 13:35

@Quartz2208 - I received the call this am and have now booked for afc Wimbledon later this week in the hope that they are still doing Moderna!

freeez · 26/04/2021 13:36

Hope those still ineligible can book soon. Keep trying...I think when it opened up unofficially to the 44s last week it was patchy for the first few hours but then everybody could.

MrsGannicus · 26/04/2021 13:36

May 78 and just booked for this Friday (Surrey). So excited!

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/04/2021 13:40

TankGirl97 · 26/04/2021 13:43
