So many talking about how this is the great reset, how this doesn't stop until we say it does and how we are never coming out of lockdown etc.
Think they are going to feel a bit stupid over the coming weeks!

OP posts:

@TheReluctantPhoenix

Agree with you OP,

Never understood the ‘great reset’ conspiracy. Every time I asked who stood to gain, I never got a meaningful reply.

The thing is, the Great Reset is not a conspiracy. It's a book written by Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret. You can buy it on Amazon. I have a copy.

For those who haven't read it, it is about using the COVID crisis to completely change the world, how companies and the financial markets operate, using tech to replace people in industry and how to solve the problem of loads of unemployed, displaced people.

Calling it a conspiracy is quite ignorant considering it's out there in the public domain.

dividedwefall · 06/04/2021 15:31

For the real conspiracy theorists who are those denying any of this is real

TheReluctantPhoenix · 06/04/2021 15:33

@dividedwefall,

I am not sure that your logic holds much water here.

The fact that a book proposes something rather than just the ‘internet’ does not make it any less of a conspiracy.

A conspiracy is when a group of people (presumably government and big industry here) agree secretly to achieve something without revealing what they are up to.

‘The Great Rest’ definitely ticks all the boxes.

Explained here also.

dividedwefall · 06/04/2021 15:36

@TheReluctantPhoenix

I am not sure if you haven't realised that the author of the book is the leader and founder of the World Economic Forum and that this is their post-pandemic vision.

It's not a conspiracy because it is out in the open. The weird thing is people deny it is real. I don't know what to tell you if even having seen the evidence you still claim it is a conspiracy. Just no hope really.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 06/04/2021 15:36

@Bobbiebigbum,

Explained by an ex drug addict with zero qualifications...

Bobbiebigbum · 06/04/2021 15:39

@TheReluctantPhoenix

He's a pretty clever ex drug addict though. Not sure what his past history has to do with anything. Just just juxtaposing Davos forum members speaking with Naoimi Kleins shock doctrine. Nothing inaccurate there.

Heyupeasterbunny · 06/04/2021 17:10

@dividedwefall That’s the thing, it all seems in plain sight? It’s just all out there really, not many not choosing to question the way things seem to be going 🤷🏻‍♀️
I also can’t get my head around all the countries complying, you’d always have done objections, I don’t see how they can innocently see what may be coming and not question it at all.

Heyupeasterbunny · 06/04/2021 17:15

All the changing of plans and giving us back our ‘Freedoms’ and now talk of another wave in July/August or something? So, what, we’ll be locking down for winter again?! We can’t, how on earth can we keep doing this, it’s not logical, surely more should be questioning it?

loulouljh · 06/04/2021 17:18

I think the people who will look silly will be those blindly going along with all of this, doing whatever they are told to keep "safe". This is not about a virus any more but about control. Not a conspiracy theory but being played out in full sight.

Familyshopper · 06/04/2021 17:35

Why on earth would they feel stupid they can do as they please

TheReluctantPhoenix · 06/04/2021 17:42

I am amazed by people who think it is about ‘control’.

I mean, seriously, this is BJ and his Etonian cronies. He wants everyone to be happy and partying and vote him in again.

Unless you seriously believe we won’t have another election (which puts you beyond loony), the idea of making people miserable for no reason makes zero sense.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 06/04/2021 17:48

the World Economic Forum and that this is their post-pandemic vision.
Yes, their vision, how they would like the world to be post pandemic. It's the vision and hope of a group of people, its not definite, concrete plan decided on and agreed by all the governments of the world, which is what some seem to think it is.

mumda · 06/04/2021 17:49

Wickes (other DIY stores are available) was apparently absolutely heaving today. Car park full. Store full. Most customers wearing masks but that'd be the only clue it wasn't pre-covid.

Neilyweily · 06/04/2021 17:57

The idea of a global reset should explain every conspiracy theory.

As if the so called elite illuminati could honestly organise something that complicated.

While all the tinfoil hat wearers are locked away in their parents basements hacking away at redacted documents the world is still going down the toilet.

The rich get richer and the rest of us moan about it.

So much for a great reset pfft

Mum2b43 · 06/04/2021 18:28

So I’ve been laughing at conspiracy theorists the whole way through. I was wearing masks in shops in March last year, people openly laughed at me. I have obeyed every rule strictly.
However I recently read that my age group under 44 has only a 0.04% chance of dying from covid if we catch it. I have friends and colleagues who have caught it, unhealthy, obese older people and they were ill but never hospitalised.
I researched data of all the vaccines available and have decided not to get one. No thanks. I’m not anti-vaccine in any way but this one? I have a feeling in my gut that it will end badly for me personally.
I won’t be getting it... in my democratic society I live in this should be my choice. However I feel like if I don’t have it I will have to give up my freedom and rights. No theatre, restaurants, pubs etc without a vaccine?
The conspiracy theorists said these passports would become part of life a year ago, I scoffed, I laughed... I said ‘Never in the democratic UK’. I guess I was wrong... what else have they got right?

RichardMarxisinnocent · 06/04/2021 18:42

However I recently read that my age group under 44 has only a 0.04% chance of dying from covid if we catch it.

You've only just recently found this out? Hasn't it been known for quite some time that younger people are at very low risk of dying, hence the vaccine roll out plan?

keeptheaspidistra · 06/04/2021 18:51

I think your following the wrong people on Twitter.

Doris86 · 06/04/2021 18:53

People are already beginning to look very silly. Those that said schools wouldn’t reopen until September or even next year for example. Or those that said vaccine targets wouldn’t be met.

dividedwefall · 06/04/2021 18:56

@Doris86

I haven't heard anyone saying those things Boris86. Seems a bit different to the Great Reset type conspiracy theories.
Doris86 · 06/04/2021 18:59

Dividedwefall- you clearly weren’t on Mumsnet a couple of months ago then. There were several threads full of doom mongers saying these things.

Also I didn’t realise I’d had a sex change ;)

Ohnomoreno · 06/04/2021 19:03

Funny how badly this thread has aged even in the space of a few hours. Now that we're seemingly going to be asked for our vaccinations to visit the pub, I'm not sure I feel silly for being worried about government mission creep.

caspersmagicaljourney · 06/04/2021 19:08

I just ignore the conspiracy theories tbh.
I have read some of them just out of interest, and they are so far-fetched as to be completely ridiculous.🥱
Although the current rules are very draconian, bordering on dystopian, they have worked to bring down the cases and deaths. The ensuing vaccination programme should improve the situation further.
I think that we, like the government, have to take the longer view that we now need to rebuild our economy and that's going to take a few years to achieve.😐

tiredofitall99 · 06/04/2021 19:09

oddly a lot of people completely dismiss the idea of AI and robotics...
I work for a company that develops this - all pretty scary to be honest.

we do a lot with example Airports and Goverments, and a lot comes under a header I would describe as 'healthy buildings' but there's so much more to it. AI isn't just facial and retina recognition..
Amazon are potentially something that will massively evolve - almost like an Amazon world above the normal Amazon, as in its not just a logistics service.
its all about data... everything is getting bigger (and I mean fuckin HUGE) and better, gearing up for data, data, data. Our data to use.
So couple that fact with potential for social credit system (that is being trialled in a wider group now in China), nano technology 'health' patents, world leaders talking about the 'Great reset' and 'you will own nothing and be happy' in the background, potential for universal basic income etc etc
robotics will have a massive crowbar in farming for example
things become subtly eroded, its not an overnight mass change. some things are helpful, but when there is talk of divides and eradicating classes and controls, I can easily see how this could be implemented if that was the goal

Sadsiblingatsea · 06/04/2021 19:10

We are now living in a 1984 dystopian nightmare.
Basically forced vaccination for an illness that is barely killing anyone!
