Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

I booked for the Madejski stadium as the Kassam stadium wasnt available to book.
Looks like that is where the Moderna will be hopefully. As long as it hasnt run out by my appointment tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip![/quote]
am very hopeful for you. centres usually have a plan to use the same vaccine for the entire shift (morning or afternoon) There is usually some AZ in the fridge as a back up plan (that is the only one that can be kept in the fridge for more than a short time).

A big thank you, saw this last night and booked my 48-year old husband in, he had the Moderna at 8.15 this morning!

nordica · 13/04/2021 12:50

This article on the BBC News website says there are "an estimated 3.7 million people in England aged 45 to 49".

Given many will have already been vaccinated as part of the earlier phase, this stage should hopefully move forward quite quickly to the early 40s and then late 30s.

Although they still mention supply issues too in the article... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56729897

What a positive thread. Great to hear of all those who booked last night and are now vaccinated.

LacyEdge · 13/04/2021 13:00

It’s all pharmacies and village halls in there now when I try to book (Herts) - not sure whether to wait for some more sites to appear on the offchance of getting a big Moderna site, or if that’s too Veruca Salt-like and I should just take the damn AZ Grin (I think I know the answer)

Can people on this thread who got jabbed please let us know what vaccine you got? Out of interest. I make my own fun

I totally understand the Verucca Salt aspect of it! I know which one I'd like, but I'll take whatever I'm offered, and be very grateful for it!

That’s impressive!!

Thank you to everyone on this thread I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me but I was having problems because there were no slots for July in the centres near my home. I chose a centre a bit further away and have been able to book both appointments now.

TokyoSushi · 13/04/2021 13:12

Sky News are at the Madjeski and reporting with some surprise that lots of over 45's were able to book yesterday evening and get their jabs there this morning, I bet it's you lot!

GiveMeNovocain · 13/04/2021 13:13

Had mine done yesterday (42, Cardiff).

Frazzled2207 · 13/04/2021 13:19

possibly daft question as I have not been able to get on yet but do you have to book both or can you book one then take a punt on being able to book a second later? Or is the second changeable?

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2021 13:20

I saw this and booked for Friday

Really pleased

Brilliant! Should have coordinated that anyone on MN wore a certain colour in case of new coverage - would probably have been a sea of blue/red/green depending on which colour we agreed on!

You have to book both appointments on the booking site.
LacyEdge · 13/04/2021 13:23

@MsRinky Did your DH go to a big hub? Exciting, congrats!

Furries · 13/04/2021 13:26

@Frazzled2207 - I think once they’re both booked, you can then go in and manage your bookings with your reference numbers. But I’m not 100% sure how it would work re amending second appointment.

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2021 13:28

If you booked and asked for confirmation by mobile / email was it immediate or some time after?

Foxhasbigsocks · 13/04/2021 13:29

Got it today - AZ

KatherineJaneway · 13/04/2021 13:30

Just come back from having mine, AZ, very quick in and out in under 10 minutes. Second dose due end of June. So happy! Thanks again to those on this thread who highlighted the booking last night.

Foxhasbigsocks · 13/04/2021 13:30

@MarshaBradyo mine was immediate but dp’s didn’t come at all and he was on the list when we arrived today and both got jabbed

Foxhasbigsocks · 13/04/2021 13:31

Yay @KatherineJaneway! We were in and out in 15 minutes too

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 13:32

Booked around 10am and still no email and not sure what I booked, both an hour away.

keiratwiceknightly · 13/04/2021 13:34

Just had mine - booked last night. No confirmation email and had a good wait but jabbed and all well.

MrsFezziwig · 13/04/2021 13:34

Such a lovely, positive thread! This was me and my friends 10 weeks ago!

I have to disagree about it being the most useful thread though, that should go to the ones started by a few posters who about three months ago alerted people to the fact that there was actually a national booking site and no, it didn’t matter what age it said on the front page, if it let you book you were eligible. They bravely persisted despite a chorus of disapproval and “no, you must wait for your letter”, and “stop cheating the system” until they were vindicated. As a result my friends and I were watching the site like hawks and got sorted really quickly. Glad that everyone is so much more aware of the system now.
