Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

Thanks all - I have the screenshots printed with reference numbers thankfully. The manage booking option shows the appointments so looks like it’s kosher.

SavingsQuestions · 13/04/2021 07:47

We didn't get an email either or text and both were filled in. Which is weird. I screenshotted... vut you can slso log back in and see it for reassurance.

If we don't yet know which vaccine will be at appointment 1, how do we know they will have the right one for appointment 2...

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/04/2021 07:53

I’m under 45 so it’s not letting me book. Hopefully it won’t be long. Feels like I’m at the last hurdle.

Quite keen to get my vaccine with everything opening up and DC at school.

KatherineJaneway · 13/04/2021 07:55

@buckleten

Same, I have had no confirmation and mine is today, but I have screen shot and printed off the booking.
Me too, I'm printing it off also so they can see the NHS website link.
grumpymummy72 · 13/04/2021 07:56

I've had no confirmation either this morning but rang them and they reassured me booking was safe. Must be a widespread problem.

Redcrayons · 13/04/2021 07:56

@ladygindiva

I've just booked in Cornwall, aged 46. Have been trying every other day for last few weeks. Coincidentally today did it differently, didnt enter my NHS number like every other time but said i didn't know it and entered dob etc instead and got an appointment at a centre 4 miles away. Coincidence?
Definitely coincidence. I’ve been trying every day for over a month with NHS number and without and would only let me book at 5pm yesterday.
Redcrayons · 13/04/2021 07:58

@QpopTYUIop9

Anyone else not received any confirmation - either text or email? I booked last night and received neither, now worried it might not be booked properly.
Didn’t get a text but got an email a couple of hours later. I had screenshot of the booking just in case.

I feel that too.

It’s wonderful to see all this booking flurry but also just another reminder to me that I am still unvaccinated and will be physically going back into school on Monday to teach and still not protected properly.

I know someone will come along in a second to tell me that it won’t be much longer and I won’t remember this wait but it still isn’t pleasant to keep waiting longer.

I was sitting here getting vaccine envy yesterday as the system just wouldn't let me book, but then I received a text from my GP inviting me to go to their booking site. So I have an appointment on Thursday morning, a few minutes walk from my house. I assume it will be the AZ one, but will report back if I get anything different.

Uhtredswoman · 13/04/2021 08:10

Website keeps saying it's 'experiencing technical difficulties'!

Will keep trying!

It might depend. My gp has been doing pfizer or az when I’ve been volunteering.

Me too chloe. Asthma not quite severe enough and the sen school that I teach in wasn't quite "Sen enough". Though neighbouring Leas got their schools done. Not quite old enough...

I feel vulnerable this term; more to long Covid than anything, but I've experienced cfs before and don't fancy it again. (Sorry, self indulgent post 🎻)

Great news for everyone else though and hopefully our turn soon!

KihoBebiluPute · 13/04/2021 08:15

@QpopTYUIop9 yanbu to be concerned. I have been trying to make a booking this morning, and after having booked an appointment went to the "manage my appointments" option to check that the appointment is logged and each time (3 times in a row) got a page saying "you need to rebook your appointments" with no evidence that I ever had an appointment. After the 3rd time the site appears to have crashed. I think we broke it.

ILookAtTheFloor · 13/04/2021 08:17

Doing my daily check for DH (whose 43) and can see that it's completely crashed now. Oops!

KatherineJaneway · 13/04/2021 08:42

I can't get onto the site now to check my bookings

WombatChocolate · 13/04/2021 08:47

The national booking system front page is updated to say over 45 can book.

Currently saying there are 45 people in a queue ahead and wait time could be more than 10 mins....but it’s working!

All you who booked last night eased the system this morning. I’m not surprised there’s a big queue. And so many people booking for today and the next couple of days. Makes you wonder what would have happened to those appointments if people hadn’t gone in last night and booked. And also makes it look as if supply is decent for 1st jabs if they can rollout to a full 5 year age group, even if lots of them have already had it.

So pleased to think lots of people who were feeling very despondent will be done before the week end.

WarriorN · 13/04/2021 08:48

I got at least two friends booked last night on thanks to this thread :)

EasterIssland · 13/04/2021 08:48

What I know is that mn is better for releasing the news than bbc or any news paper. We heard about it here yesterday ans many managed to get their slot without causing any trouble. I announced at works slack as well as I could predict this happening. Today the news announce it and the site is down. Mn is better to stay up to date :)

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/04/2021 08:51

Oh no, MN broke the booking website!

@ChloeDecker it’s hard. I’m only slightly under 45. We were told we’d get our jabs by April and all 40’s would be in one group. Then that hope got dashed. Then the AZ clotting issues. Now things are opening up I feel really exposed. I worry for Monday, people will have been in pubs and Primark etc and still we haven’t had a vaccine.

Hopefully it’s not long now.

Newname9 · 13/04/2021 08:51

Dh 45 (last week) and says not eligible!

Redcrayons · 13/04/2021 08:51

Flowers Thank you to everyone on the thread yesterday who posted the early opening. I’d be stressed up to my eyeballs if I was trying it today.

And solidarity to you under 45s. Hopefully you’re just a few days away from your turn.

WarriorN · 13/04/2021 08:52

@Newname9

Dh 45 (last week) and says not eligible!
How frustrating :(
WarriorN · 13/04/2021 08:53

It's working again now

Still ineligible. As I'm still 44.

mrsknottschicken · 13/04/2021 08:54

Yes, thank you to all those who posted about getting appointments. I feel really lucky that we managed to get booked, and a couple of other people I know did too, all thanks to Mumsnet. I would not have known or tried otherwise.

mrsknottschicken · 13/04/2021 08:55

And to those of you still waiting, massive solidarity and I hope you get booked in soon.
