Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

Yes! Glad I checked up on this thread as the National booking site let me in and booked both doses. Had been checking a lot a while back then decided to just wait for my text as was just getting grumpy each time. First dose is in a weeks time and cannot wait - was getting super anxious today seeing how much people are getting out and about and had a proper panic about being left behind. Amazing!! Thanks all who've been reporting, this is officially the most useful mumsnet thread that ever existed. Smile

Have booked for Wed (49), my DS is booked for Friday (46) and a friend is tomorrow (48) - all north Oxfordshire. And DH who is working away is booked in for tomorrow in w. London (49). V grateful for this thread!

Glad I read this thread. I managed to book my husband this week (he’s over 45) but it said I wasn’t eligible (under 45). I couldn’t book the second dose at the same venue, it’s at a Boots store, does that mean he’ll definitely get the Astra Zeneca? Are they still giving the Pfizer one?

I second this. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences.

@Theimpossiblegirl

If it lets you book, would they turn you away? I've booked, I'm 45, first page still says over 50 but it let me compete the booking process.
They’ve changed the front page to 45s and over now. So no worries.
WarriorN · 13/04/2021 07:17
@2kool4skool that’s what it did for dp but after trying 40 times it let him book
@Foxhasbigsocks do you mean he got the "you're not eligible" but then could?

DenisetheMenace · 13/04/2021 07:19

Daughter’s father in law, 48, had his 3 weeks ago in NW.

WarriorN · 13/04/2021 07:21

I know of one area that's on to 30s. I think they said Midlands somewhere.

Not yet 45 but yeay to all those who have!

Dh is 45 but no luck yet.

KatherineJaneway · 13/04/2021 07:23

@Florelei

Thanks for the heads up. It said 50 last night and this morning but, as you pointed out, it is now saying 45.

@IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld

I've just booked! I'm 49 1/2 and been trying the NHS booking website for a few weeks now but "computer said no"...tonight, and thanks to this thread, I've tried again and been able to book for tomorrow evening.

I'm relieved for various reasons. I do feel slightly guilty though, as though I've somehow "tricked" the system, but it wouldn't let me book before so I'm presuming the algorithms have been changed to allow it? I would hate to turn up and be turned away.

You haven't tricked the system! They've added appts to the system for over 40s but haven't updated the holding page yet because they want to make a fanfare announcement that over 40s can apply. The website's jumped the gun, that's all.
EasterIssland · 13/04/2021 07:28

When do you think it’ll change to 40? I think Friday , wishful thinking ?

LoudestCat14 · 13/04/2021 07:29

EasterIssland I think it might be a bit longer than Friday. I imagine end of April, just to give the over 45s time to apply for theirs first.

I don’t think it’ll be that long. They were changing 50/55/60/65 every few days , once opened to 40 the 45s can still book anyway.
TankGirl97 · 13/04/2021 07:31

So exciting that it's shifted to over 45's. DH and I are in the next group down, can't wait....!

QpopTYUIop9 · 13/04/2021 07:32

Anyone else not received any confirmation - either text or email?
I booked last night and received neither, now worried it might not be booked properly.

My confirmation was almost instant both by text and email. Can you login and check if your appts are there?
Pearl97 · 13/04/2021 07:35

I’m really surprised they went to over 45’s not 48/9. Must be a good supply and positive for the under 45’s too!

MrsMariaReynolds · 13/04/2021 07:37

I'm 45 and still can't book in on the system. Same for 49 year old DH. 🤷‍♀️ Neither of us have received invitations yet either.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/04/2021 07:37

I seem to remember the age dropping around 5 years a week before but that was before 2nd doses were also being given out and before the supply issues. I would guess around two weeks time for 40-44s.

Me, no email or text but the website said I had booked and gave me reference numbers.
buckleten · 13/04/2021 07:41

Same, I have had no confirmation and mine is today, but I have screen shot and printed off the booking.

Blessex · 13/04/2021 07:42

Woooohoooo age 46 and booked! Am happy to have whichever vaccine apart from the Chinese one which doesn’t give 100% protection against severe disease. The rest are all brilliant!!!

MrsMariaReynolds · 13/04/2021 07:45

Correction, DH (49) just managed to get into the system to book, but no appointments available within a 25 mile radius. And we don't drive. Boo. Will try again later.
