Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

DH and I have just booked ours through the NHS link - both in our 40s

MirandaWest · 12/04/2021 22:58

He’s 48 and I’m 45

Eddmr · 12/04/2021 22:58

Same here. Didn't enter my NHS number, just date of birth and got an appointment for Thursday. So happy.

Thank you so much for the information. My husband and lots of friends in their very late 40s have been able to book. All working and with secondary school aged children. Lots of spaces in the local vaccination centre - with 62% of adults having had their first dose already our time has finally come!

boomwhacker · 12/04/2021 23:10

I can now book the first one but it says there are no spaces for the second so won't let me book. Anyone else found this?

jaundicedoutlook · 12/04/2021 23:18

DH just managed to book his about 30 mins ago - he’s late 40s with no priority factors and we’re Kent/Sussex border.

I had mine a few weeks ago - I’m early 40s but managed to take advantage of a slightly odd turn up and get a jab day if you’re from an ethnic minority. Felt lousy next day, but glad it’s done.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 12/04/2021 23:23

@boomwhacker I had that, I went back and picked a different location a little further away which had slots available for the second jab.

GreaseproofPaper · 12/04/2021 23:25

Yay! Booked for tomorrow morning!

pinkkoala · 12/04/2021 23:30

I have just managed to book my dp, he is 49, booked on nhs online. Think he felt a bit left out as i am 47 and had mine in dec and march, as hca.
Managed to book both of his and without nhs number just name and date of birth.

Blondiney · 12/04/2021 23:33

Shit. It's letting me book now, wasn't eligible this afternoon.
46, Greater Manchester.

mrsknottschicken · 12/04/2021 23:33

@boomwhacker DH had that too but by playing around with dates at the same venue he did manage to book 2 jabs.

Frownette · 12/04/2021 23:46

I had a letter telling me to book online despite not being the right group, so I did. Via hub not GP.

It was because when I ordered a COVID home test from 119 I mentioned I am around CEV people but I was surprised they made a note of it.

Only thing that worries me is that there is a 10 week gap between first and second, now that first is done I just want it over with.

10 weeks is a bit long, isn't it? Perhaps I'm splitting hairs. It feels like we're at the fairground and all jumping through hoops!

SavingsQuestions · 12/04/2021 23:56

I can only book husband a first jab and not a second (so it won't let me book first!)

Really irritatinf having got this far! Both first few venues offer first jab 1st and 2nd May and then only place for second jab is over an hours drive away.

SavingsQuestions · 12/04/2021 23:56

On the positive side though I managed to book my second jab! (Couldnt book first online, only through GP and not not heard anything about booking second.)

Lonecatwithkitten · 12/04/2021 23:58

Got an appointment for Thursday by trying different centres and eventually found one with second appointments.
Feel rather strange, had been feeling a bit let down by system - have worked through out was a key worker in first long down and down grade in third lockdown to critical worker.
I have autoimmune disease and take immunosuppressive drugs, but subtly wrong diseases and drugs to be in the CV group. My health is not great.
Feel actually quite tearful that am getting the vaccine this Thursday.

aleC4 · 13/04/2021 00:02

I'm 45 and in Derbyshire but with NG postcode.
I've just managed to book mine but o had to play around a bit with venues to get a second one.
First one is Saturday, second one 3rd July.
Feel a bit scared now!

Blondiney · 13/04/2021 00:02

Right, the places it's offering me are a right faff to get to. There's somewhere that's literally a 5 minute walk from my house that do it. How the hell do I book that one, do I wait for my GP to contact me?

Sorry if that's a stupid, ungrateful sounding question.

aleC4 · 13/04/2021 00:02

I think to get really local you have to wait for your go to contact you.

aleC4 · 13/04/2021 00:03

GP not go! 🤣

Blondiney · 13/04/2021 00:05

@aleC4

I think to get really local you have to wait for your go to contact you.
Thank you. Think I'll hang on and wait for them to contact me, could really do without the added stress of travelling somewhere new.
Blondiney · 13/04/2021 00:05

I knew what you meant Grin

sleepwouldbenice · 13/04/2021 00:14

@MummaPI

Out of interest, for anyone in their late 40s who have had the jab, which one have they offered you?
AZ you don’t really get to pick No symptoms at all though
Theimpossiblegirl · 13/04/2021 00:23

If it lets you book, would they turn you away? I've booked, I'm 45, first page still says over 50 but it let me compete the booking process.

dottysaur · 13/04/2021 00:40

DSis and BIL have just booked theirs, age 45 and 49 (N London). Me and my other DSis are younger but we got ours in Group 6. Once they are done, all the adults in our family will have had at least one jab Smile.

SavingsQuestions · 13/04/2021 01:00

Oooh glad I kept reading. By choosing third on the list I got a sooner appointment (wednesday!!) Which meant availability for the second 🥳.

Def worth working through all the date/place combinations if the first couple aren't giving you a second jab option. Also saying it doesnt need to be same place!
