Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

Ah there's just been a 'Sky breaking news' that they're declaring the over 50's done and they're opening up to the over 40's, seemingly starting with the over 45's 'in the coming days' - creeping ever closer folks!!

MRex · 12/04/2021 22:35

So many neighbours have booked, friends, family... And it's still not officially open until tomorrow. I wonder if the 45-49s crowd will be the fastest vaccine bookers, or if the 40-44s will beat them.

Out of interest, for anyone in their late 40s who have had the jab, which one have they offered you?

news.sky.com/story/covid-19-under-50s-to-be-offered-jabs-this-week-as-government-beats-latest-vaccine-target-12273535

Thats saying that its people in their 'late fourties' to be invited first which is what the Times was saying.

Nothing new but does seem to firm up the point that its 45+ rather than all of group 10.

We should just dub it Group 10A and Group10B if thats the case!

After reading a few posts I've just gone onto the national booking site and got my 1st appointment for tomorrow am first thing at the local hub. I'm 49 in the NE for anyone else who wants to try. Tbh I thought it would have rejected me as soon as I put my dob in...

TokyoSushi · 12/04/2021 22:42

@EasterIssland they might learn a thing or two! Grin

Paul Brand @paulbranditv
BREAKING: The government has confirmed that ALL over 50s have now been offered a vaccine, meeting its 15th April target 3 days early.

The under 50s will now begin to be called forward for vaccinations from this week, starting with those in their late 40s.

MimieD · 12/04/2021 22:42

Yah, just managed to book! (49 and in southeast)

Keepyourdistance000 · 12/04/2021 22:43

I'm 46, no underlying conditions and was able to book a few weeks ago Hmm

I'm in the SW though and I think they're way ahead here with jabs.

Ceara · 12/04/2021 22:44

I can now book, hurrah! Booked DH's earlier this evening, for tomorrow. The local vaccine centre only has appointments tomorrow and we don't want to get it on the same day and be laid low with side effects at the same time, so I'm holding off and hoping more appts open up. I could book for Friday reasonably locally but already have commitments that day. Or for next week but much further away. Hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot by waiting.

Ceara · 12/04/2021 22:44

46, SE

The next phase is set to begin this week, with the JCVI expected to provide further details on vaccinating those under 50. Individuals in their late 40s are likely to be called for their jabs first.

  1. Got my jab last week after an invitation text from my GP (Oxfordshire). I'd say everyone in the queue at the surgery was in the 45-49 age group.
ProfessorPootle · 12/04/2021 22:46

Just tried but ‘not currently eligible’, am 44 and 11 months!

ladygindiva · 12/04/2021 22:46

I've just booked in Cornwall, aged 46. Have been trying every other day for last few weeks. Coincidentally today did it differently, didnt enter my NHS number like every other time but said i didn't know it and entered dob etc instead and got an appointment at a centre 4 miles away. Coincidence?

TokyoSushi · 12/04/2021 22:49

Excellent, I love this thread! Just ticked two more people off my friends list who are now booked in! Still waiting as just a young pup at 41! Grin

hamper555 · 12/04/2021 22:50

Just booked Surrey (age 46)

Wakemeuuuup · 12/04/2021 22:53

My dh, sis and bil have just booked thank you

Goldieloxx · 12/04/2021 22:55

In the West Mids, I had mine two weeks ago and my friends have started being called for theirs ( all early 40s)

KatherineJaneway · 12/04/2021 22:56

I've just booked my 1st and 2nd doses! Through the NHS link. First jab is tomorrow 😃

Megan2018 · 12/04/2021 22:57

I just put husband’s details in and it offers him a slot (47) but not me (43).
Silly sod won’t go though Hmm as he’s terrified of needles. I might be able to drag him with me when I get to go though.
