Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

Way to go EenyMeeny! Work is so busy at the moment and whilst I realise I'm fortunate to have a job etc etc, it is still a worry.

Foxhasbigsocks · 12/04/2021 20:41

Does anyone know if we will all be AZ? Those of us who can book? I’m assuming so as no moderna yet and almost no Pfizer left?

MadgeMak · 12/04/2021 20:43

@Iknowtheanswer

Tried with my NHS number, tried on ds's computer in case I hadn't cleared my cookies, still no luck.

I'm thinking it's just not meant to be. I've been working with vulnerable adults throughout all lockdowns, key worker, but not close enough to count as a carer. Asthmatic, but not bad enough. 50 next month. Not going to keep trying tonight.

Try using your name/dob/postcode instead. I cleared cookies and initially tried with NHS number and had no joy. Cleared cookies again and used my name instead and was eligible.
landofgiants · 12/04/2021 20:45

I'd prefer Moderna, but I'll be happy with whatever they stick in my arm!

I'm told 1st jabs are all AZ, as Pfizer is all for 2nd jabs
CooDeGrass · 12/04/2021 20:48

Booked for Wednesday! I am so relieved I could cry.

There must be a lot of work behind the scenes as I did nothing different the time it finally worked (no NHS number, no cleared cookies). Hope everyone else still trying gets through soon

Bakeachocolatecake2day · 12/04/2021 20:49

(as in people who have already had it. we are not apparently getting any more)

urbanmist · 12/04/2021 20:49

Mid 40s. Been trying the NHS site most days. Not eligible this morning, but now able to book. Getting it tomorrow. Hurray!

Foxhasbigsocks · 12/04/2021 20:50

@Bakeachocolatecake2day that’s what I think too!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 12/04/2021 20:51

I've booked in for Thursday (47). So damn happy! I've had to go a little further away as my first choice didn't have any 2nd appts available. DH couldn't book though and he's older than me (49) so no idea what's going on with it.

Part of me is now worried I'll be turned away for booking before I should (natural worrier!).

landofgiants · 12/04/2021 20:53

Someone at work had 1st jab Pfizer last week. Not sure there's a hard and fast rule. Think AZ likely, though.

Na you will be find.

It'll be something daft like they uploaded a spreadsheet in reverse order or something.

It won't let you book if you aren't eligible.

daisiesinmay · 12/04/2021 20:57

Iknowtheanswer that sounds so frustrating. I hope you can get one in the morning. Also to those where one half of a couple is getting it and not the other one. Very difficult, I hope all these resolve quickly and people can get booked in

LoudestCat14 · 12/04/2021 21:04

I kept clearing cookies as suggested and I just got onto the website and booked!! I'm 48 and in London.

Redcrayons · 12/04/2021 21:06

What a rollercoaster of a thread this was.

I came on quite despondent that I wouldn’t get a look until till May at the earliest and now I’m going on Thursday. Could have gone tomorrow, but for early meetings with work.

Keep trying for those who can’t book yet.

Does anyone want to guess At which vaccine it might be? By massive coincidence my mum has her second jab the same day as me now. I didn’t know. She’s having Pfizer. Is it likely to be all Pfizer there or do they have a mix? This is a big hub rather than pharmacy.

Ceara · 12/04/2021 21:08

Woo hoo - DH booked for tomorrow! 46, SE. I am a couple of months younger, diff surname as I didn't change my name, but obvs same address, same GP, not able to book yet.
DH is somewhat shellshocked he's getting his jag in 12 hours.

Could be either. Lots of places are using both.

Absolutely no guarantee of which vaccine it will be until you turn up I'm afraid.

Same! It's been quite the rollercoaster today.

I reckon we will get AZ, but I secretly hope it's one of the others as I am a bit nervous about side effects. I am very pro-vax though and thrilled to be getting anything at all. I hope others still waiting get one soon.

Redcrayons · 12/04/2021 21:16

I’m just idly wondering. The AZ news last week spooked me a little, but not enough to turn it down.

If you can guess the four digit number im thinking of first time you are fucked.

There's more chance of you being able to do that, than keeling over and having a blood clot.

Keep thinking about that.

WombatChocolate · 12/04/2021 21:21

Seeing all these upper 40s getting booked this evening has made my day.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 12/04/2021 21:24

I've just booked! I'm 49 1/2 and been trying the NHS booking website for a few weeks now but "computer said no"...tonight, and thanks to this thread, I've tried again and been able to book for tomorrow evening.

I'm relieved for various reasons. I do feel slightly guilty though, as though I've somehow "tricked" the system, but it wouldn't let me book before so I'm presuming the algorithms have been changed to allow it? I would hate to turn up and be turned away.

I am willing to bet the 10pm front page news drop will make you feel better.
whittingtonmum · 12/04/2021 21:30

I'm lower 40s and can't book. Tried DH who is 46 and managed to book him for Wednesday. Very jealous as there was so much availability for him to choose from nearby and I can't access any of the available slots yet....we're in North London.

buckleten · 12/04/2021 21:33

I keep trying and it won't let me :-( I am 48.5
