Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Summergirl76 · 04/04/2021 22:16

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

I have just booked for North West. Chanced it as I’m 45 and it let me book both jabs

Torvi · 12/04/2021 17:45

42 in West Yorkshire and it's a no so far

wintertravel1980 · 12/04/2021 17:46

Wow, oxton, this gives more of us hope:). Perhaps, I can get a booking for my DH.

BunsyGirl · 12/04/2021 17:47

I’ve booked!!! I’m 45 years old.

mrsknottschicken · 12/04/2021 17:47

Wow @oxton that’s awesome! You’re the same age as me but I’m in the South East.

Welldarn · 12/04/2021 17:48

Still can’t book in east Devon and I’m 49.

Eccle80 · 12/04/2021 17:49

Wow that’s great to hear of some 45 year olds too! No luck for me but I’m in the lower 40s.

For those who have booked, how soon are your appointments?

Catslovepies · 12/04/2021 17:50

If we're all booking through the central service why does it seem like some 48 year olds for example are eligible and some aren't? It tells me I'm not eligible when I enter my date of birth (after entering my NHS number). It doesn't ask me my location before rejecting me and it seems unlikely (though possible) it's checking my location via my NHS number?

Florelei · 12/04/2021 17:50

My DP is 46 and I’ve just booked him in for tomorrow!

BunsyGirl · 12/04/2021 17:51

Mine is for this Saturday. So happy. Had a lovely day at the zoo with my kids and now been able to book my vaccine appointment on the way home.

Dates here were available for 19th bit I went for a Friday. Didn't fancy feeling rough on a work day!

Because they are only adding records to the system who are now allowed to book gradually. It cant be done instantly for everyone.
Blondiney · 12/04/2021 17:52

It's a no for me. 46 in Greater Manchester.

Echobelly · 12/04/2021 17:52

Glad to hear they are apparently restarting rollout for 40+ in England, so hoping I'll get notification in next few weeks. The borough I am in has been fairly pacey, so hopefully it'll be soonish once it's up and running.

ArtfulPuss · 12/04/2021 17:52

Welldarn same here – please do update if you get through. I know Westpoint is closed + think they're reopening at Greendale but not till end of April, so maybe that's the hold up...

RickiTarr · 12/04/2021 17:53

@WaltzingToWalsingham

Sorry OP, I've got stuck on your sister having a boyfriend AND a husband. It all sounds very friendly if they're swapping vaccination booking stories. How does it all work?
That was my first thought too. I’m in stitches that you never got an answer @WaltzingToWalsingham Grin

(Also, that’s a great username Smile Dancing pilgrimages should be a thing.)

Catslovepies · 12/04/2021 17:54

Ok but why does it ask for a birthdate before rejecting instead of doing so after entering the NHS number?

RedToothBrush · 12/04/2021 17:58

Cos your record hasn't been added yet...

Honestly this happened last time. Close friends of mine couldn't book early evening but could later.

If they are rolling out in your area, then you will be added. It just will take a little time.

Eccle80 · 12/04/2021 17:58

@Catslovepies as Redtoothbrush says, it seems like things get gradually added on, then once everyone has been activated on the system they update the front page with the current age range. So hopefully everyone 45+ will be able to book soon.

Great to hear the appointments are so soon too.

oxton · 12/04/2021 18:02

Mine’s Tuesday next week, could have booked for Friday this week but have something that I have to attend.
Now feeling paranoid I might get turned away when I turn up!

Thecatisboss · 12/04/2021 18:02

DH at 49 still unable to book me at 47 says I can book but can't as unable to book 2nd vaccination! 😉

Catslovepies · 12/04/2021 18:03

Thanks, both, I just need to muster up a bit more patience I suppose.

RedToothBrush · 12/04/2021 18:06

I'm confident that a lot of people on the thread who have said they can't book yet will be able to do so in a few hours or so. As you say, patience is of the essence.

Will be particularly interested to hear of anyone under 45 being able to book.

SaltyAF · 12/04/2021 18:07

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago (Wales, early 40s). DH and lots of our friends have been done. The reserve list is now open to 18-29 and I know of a 19 year old who had his this weekend.

daisiesinmay · 12/04/2021 18:12

Hopefully they are adding more as the evening goes on. Mine is for Wednesday - London. I did clear cookies, so that's worth a try?
Have checked it so many times I was quite amazed when it went to the next step. Really hoping for more appointments to be put on and fingers crossed for everyone
