Can the 40-49 age group now book their vaccine?

Sister’s boyfriend (43) was able today to book his vaccine by entering his details on the national booking site (he is Derby based). Sister late 30s tried too but it said she was not eligible. Her husband tried last week and was also not eligible. Just wondered if anyone else has tried in the 40s age group and been able to book?

Ah you got my hopes up there. I’m late 40s and just tried, said I wasn’t eligible

Rshard · 04/04/2021 22:20

I’m 47, same area as the boyfriend and had my jab last Sunday. Lots of similar age friends have too. I got a text from my GP

Summergirl76 · 04/04/2021 22:20

He didn’t get a text he just tried via the NHS national link

Not eligible on national thing here. It’s not meant to be rolling out yet.
Lots of friends locally are getting texts though but they are 45-49 and I’m 43.
My money is on last week of April

WaltzingToWalsingham · 04/04/2021 22:24

Sorry OP, I've got stuck on your sister having a boyfriend AND a husband. It all sounds very friendly if they're swapping vaccination booking stories. How does it all work?

Slayduggee · 04/04/2021 22:25

Just tried now and it says I’m not eligible

Rhapus123 · 04/04/2021 22:26

41 and not eligible today (Wiltshire)! My 39 brother had one a few weeks ago as his part of Leeds are really blitzing their way through the age groups. He thought his invite was an error but was confirmed correct.

LarryDuff · 04/04/2021 22:35

yes me (43) and husband (42) both got texts from our GP on Wednesday (no underlying health issues)

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 04/04/2021 22:37

Derby seem to be really far ahead on testing.
ExH and Ex-Sil both under 40 had first dose yesterday via text from GP.

lavenderlou · 04/04/2021 22:40

SIL in 30s in Derby was called by GP for hers (not in an at-risk group). Some London boroughs have been doing people in their 30s for weeks. In parts of my county I know people in their 40s who've been called but in other areas it's still over 50s only.

kerkyra · 04/04/2021 22:42

Nothing for me(49) in Northants yet.

sherrystrull · 04/04/2021 22:43

All of my over 40 friends have been done in the last week including one who is 40 and 3 months. I'm sure it won't be long.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/04/2021 22:51

Oh I wish! Our gp is still doing group 8 and below and then hub centres have had to put out the offers to group 9 to meet the target set by the welsh gov. They are also prioritising 2nd doses earlier than 11 weeks (many having them at 5-6 weeks) which further pushes back them being able to offer to younger groups yet.

I predict end of.April at the earliest before my group (45-49) gets a letter and that's IF they still go off age and dont just open it to all adults. All I seem to read is that they want to do groups 1-9 by kid April, then all adults by July with no other details.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 04/04/2021 23:17

As far as I know the national link isn't open to under 50s yet, but some 40s are / have been done via GP. I am late 40s, had mine last week.

Keepyourdistance000 · 04/04/2021 23:19

46 and got my text a few weeks ago - first jab this week.

Tealightsandd · 04/04/2021 23:40

@lavenderlou Do you know which London boroughs? Friends in SE London (mid 40s) can't book yet.

It all seems such a postcode lottery. There's definitely not been an even distribution of the vaccines. It should've been done in proportion to population numbers.

And48 · 05/04/2021 00:00

Just tried online for husband who will be 50 in a few days... saying not elegible.

middleager · 05/04/2021 00:01

48, West Mids. Nothing for me yet either. My GP does not offer the vaccine on site either.

MirandaWest · 05/04/2021 00:03

I’m 45 and just tried the National booking line - not eligible.

Am thinking it won’t be for a few weeks yet.

Welldarn · 05/04/2021 00:05

I’m in Devon and just tried to book. I am 49, the online booking said, no you are not eligible for the vaccine yet Sad

doodleygirl · 05/04/2021 00:06

My 26 yr old DD had her first jab yesterday. She had a text from her GP telling her to book in. No health problems, she is in North Manchester.

Tealightsandd · 05/04/2021 00:13

I think it's wrong that areas with surplus supply are giving it to healthy people in their 20s when upper 40s in other areas are having to wait. It's known the risk is higher from 40. Surplus supplies should be sent to other areas. I feel for my friends and I'm almost grateful I'm in the CV group and managed to get mine.

User27aw · 05/04/2021 00:26

No I cant. Im 48
