@Beebityboo

I get really fed up with the comparisons to Nazi Germany too. The situations are not comparable and its honestly a bit offensive. There is some stuff here to keep an eye on, but over the top comparisons to the Third Reich is not the way to do it.
Too many people happy to give their freedoms away. Someone up thread said they were happy to wear a snot rag and do some social distancing to get back to normal.

That is not normal.

kittensarecute · 05/04/2021 23:41

I've started self harming again.

I can feel myself slipping into a dark place mentally.

I need my normality back, I need to act and sing and hug my friends.

If you read about the early years, you can't miss the parallels.

Kittens please stop reading CV threads. It doesn't help you at all

One day at a time, don't worry about June or masks or whatever.

Restrictions are lifting. Focus on the good things & read threads about naughty toddlers & 'why won't my house sell'

mrshoho · 05/04/2021 23:50

The controls and behaviour conditioning is for a completely different reason though. A pandemic of a highly infectious disease, that if left to spread uncontrolled, would wipe out a large proportion of the population. The disease is real and we've now lived through it so all the evidence is right in front of us.

purplebatbear · 05/04/2021 23:50

No. It's not going to get back to what we previously perceived as normal for quite a long time.
They are sugarcoating it and have done all the way through to try to lessen the impact on people mentally (but this has been disastrous and resulted in far more deaths due to not being proactive and fast-acting like New Zealand were).

Our atrocious government utterly screwed this up so no, 'normal' will look different for a while, I think.

And I think we all need to get our heads around that as I see so many people thinking they'll be able to go on holiday/socialise etc like pre 2020
and it'll all be fine due to the vaccines.

Nah. Not for a while. This virus is very good at mutating :(

Kittens I agree with pp threads like these won’t help at all.

It’s the same type of posts that heighten anxiety.

I hope you can seek support

bendmeoverbackwards · 05/04/2021 23:56

I wish people would stop moaning about queuing. Problem is we’ve all become too impatient what with online shopping, same day delivery, TV streaming services. No one wants to wait for anything any more.

I hope one benefit post Covid is that people’s patience will improve.

ThatchersCold · 06/04/2021 00:07

To many of us it’s been clear almost from the start that the intention was never to go back to normal. We were called conspiracy loons, covidiots, tin foil hatters etc. We tried to warn others and have been laughed at throughout. I think things are becoming a bit clearer now though for some people...

Dowser · 06/04/2021 00:13

Oh and to the pp poster who didn’t like my use of the derogatory term face nappies
I think everyone knows by now that the masks used in operating theatres are proper clinical masks, that are appropriate.y fit rent and then discarded properly after a couple of hours use.
Not stuffed in the bottom of a bag, pocket, school bag etc etc

I don’t know why people get so upset about the term face nappy or snot rag.

Would you blow your nose on a handkerchief and then lay it over your nose and mouth..because hat in effect is exactly what you are doing

Nasty horrible disgusting things
I certainly won’t wear one.

Demonstrably, we have been nothing but patient.

Patience wears thin.

Please please don’t despair. I can see you reading these posts and slipping Please look at the positive threads which list all the good things happening, it’s a bloody long road but we have started on the path to the end. Surely even if things were 80% normal for most of the year with bumps when it got worse the you can embrace the positive Please ignore all the idiots who say we are being trapped, we are gradually getting there
ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 06/04/2021 00:57

There are signs of the world emerging a bit.

But I read somewhere that Bill Gates thinks it’ll be at least the end of 2022 before the significant disruption of day to day life ends.

I think he’s fairly likely to be drawing that conclusion from a broad range of information and well-placed people with significant expertise. And he has been warning about a pandemic for years so I’d his opinion more seriously than that of most politicians.

And by then, the world have altered direction significantly, so there won’t be a going back to normal.

Ploughingthrough · 06/04/2021 01:50

I am pretty optimistic that a normal is on the way. For most of us this is the first real crisis we have lived through and its disconcerting and anxiety provoking. But a normal will emerge bit by bit. Masks might have to hang around in crowded places for a bit and there may be a shift in the way people work with a lot more remote working just because it has now become a habit. I think education will remain a lot more technology focused but that would have happened anyway. Travel might take a while to be pre covid.
I think once April rolls round and things are lifted to a degree people will start to feel more hopeful.

FFS. What do you actually mean by the intention from almost the start, was never to go back to normal? I can imagine some things staying such as more wfh, maybe not travelling abroad quite as often as its more expensive, maybe washing hands more effectively. But I assume that's not what you mean? Do you mean covid was intentional and planned? Do you mean we're going to have nano technology injected into us in the vaccine? Do you mean some of us will die as a result and the rest will be tired into transhumans? Do you mean Bill Gates and his baby blood drinking are going to then use us as slaves so they can get richer? Or is your belief more that "they" want to use this to "control" us for some nefarious reasons which you can't elaborate on or explain? What exactly is not going back to normal in you view?
toocold54 · 06/04/2021 07:30

Nazi Germany didn’t happen overnight and unless you want to feel a jackboot on your neck..you’ve got to say

What a disgusting thing to say!
Are you seriously comparing wearing masks (to protect people) to Nazi Germany!
When someone has to stoop so low to get people to believe in what they do then you know it’s utter bullshit.

whymewhyme · 06/04/2021 07:41

If masks work so well, why is the virus still spreading?

toocold54 · 06/04/2021 07:43

Please do not listen to the foil hat idiots on this thread trying to drag everyone down with their doom and gloom saying this is never going to end and we’re going to end up like Nazi Germany etc.

Obviously the virus is still out there so things can’t go straight back to normal but there is a way out which we are slowly getting there. We have a roadmap and things have already started changing like meeting up in groups of 6 and soon non-essential shops opening up.
The virus is alive so of course there can never be rigid rules but we have had to adapt to many different viruses and we get over it. Things like the Black Death and foot and mouth disease were huge problems in this country and still are today in other countries but we don’t worry about them day to day.
I’m sure farmers have slightly different rules now to stop foot and mouth spreading again but they’ve just adapted and carried on.

Please make sure you meet up with friends or family and go out and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Don’t come on MN or SM for a few days and see if that makes it any better. Flowers

whymewhyme · 06/04/2021 07:43

Is the vaccines are so effective and over half the adult population have been vaccinated.....why are they threatening another wave late summer?

toocold54 · 06/04/2021 07:47

If masks work so well, why is the virus still spreading?

Read the thread and see how many people are refusing to wear them. The masks are also just a part of it they are not 100% effective, people still need to wash their hands etc which I’m sure some of the PPs are refusing to do also.

As a PP pointed out people aren’t changing them or cleaning them properly. So their effectiveness will be reduced compared to those who are doing it properly.

I hate masks but I do have to admit that I have enjoyed not getting lots of colds this winter like I am usually prone to. That shows that they must be somewhat effective.

rosie1959 · 06/04/2021 07:52

@whymewhyme

I suppose the vaccine is not 100% but should prevent serious illness and death. The vacinne can only work on people that have accepted it
mrshoho · 06/04/2021 07:53

If 20 million are still unvaccinated and a further 20 million or so having had just 1 dose I imagine? Late Summer after another period of international travel and then mix in possible new variants appearing makes for the concern of another wave.

Dolciedolly · 06/04/2021 07:56

@kittensarecute I suffer severe anxiety etc and I know how you are feeling I was slightly anxious when posted this and feel awful today ..... please call anxiety U.K. or no panic and they can help which is what I will be doing today ... don't read the media xx stay strong my darling x
